30th Century Post Office

Removing 30th Century Post Office from Sale

It has been over 3 years since 30th Century Post Office first launched into Early Access, and almost as long since the last update. I have been dwelling on this for some time, but have decided that it is time to call it quits and remove the game from sale on the Steam store.

When I initially submitted 30th Century Post Office to Steam, it was before the current system allowing anybody to sell a game on Steam for a fee. I sent an email to Valve, and my game was manually approved. At the time I was incredibly excited, in hindsight I see that I got swept up by this excitement and wasn't considering the reality of my skills, and what I could actually achieve with those skills.

In general I have always been incredibly critical of my own abilities, but the fact that my game, my game, was manually approved for sale on Steam gave me a sense of confidence I have never experienced before. I see now that this confidence was misplaced. The truth is I was just a guy with a computer, like any other.

I managed to squeeze out a few updates, but I increasingly felt more unsure, and less happy with what I was creating. I tried my best to continue, but the more I worked the more my lack of knowledge and skills became apparent. Slowly but surely, I gave up. I should have sought to stop selling it immediately, but part of me wanted to hold out hope I could still work it out.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I would have at the very least developed a more complete, polished game before putting it up for sale, if I would have at all.

To all of my customers, I am deeply sorry, and I hope you can understand why I have made this decision.

Thank you, and goodbye.

Update 2 - Bigger this time

Good day everyone,

Today's update to 30th Century Post Office is fairly substantial so let's get to it.

For starters, the level select returns, in a new form factor. The level selector will let you select any day you have previously completed and replay it.

Secondly, I've realised how much some people dislike teleportation, so there's now an option to turn off teleportation and use artificial locomotion instead. There is a switch to toggle between them in the main menu, next to the volume sliders.

But most importantly, this update adds the new, second level to the game!

This level will take you to a new facility, at the bottom of the ocean, where you'll face new challenges in your task to sort to the best of your ability.

You might also notice I've made some changes to the shader, giving the game a crisper look. I think it looks a lot better, and I hope you all like it too! Let me know what you think.

Update 1

Good day, fellow humans.

The first update to 30th Century Post Office should be live as of this posting. Nothing too major today, but keep an eye out for more in the future!
