Aaand the long wait is almost over, hurray!! New year, new update, right? Update 0.970 will bring a lot of changes as many things were improved. You can check below the main changes/features.
MAIN FEATURES
The connection bug is fixed - players should now be able to connect freely to matches. Of course, this needs confirmation from the community but in theory everything is perfectly OK now. Let’s put this behind us, please.
Increased performance - lots of tweaks were made to increase the in game performance.
Map overhaul - while working to optimize the map I ended up completely reworking it and now it has a different vibe and layout. I am very happy with this new change from a design perspective.
The introduction of Chapters - I have decided that I want to stray away from individual maps and monsters like most multiplayer games handle their design and dive a bit into lore and story arcs to give the game more character and depth. This is why each monster will have 3 maps that each represent a Chapter of their story. The current map is Chapter III of Gormoth’s arc and is called “The Ritual of Gormoth” and in this map we reach the conclusion of this monster with the villagers trying to perform the Ritual to cleanse the land. This means that there will be Chapter I and Chapter II, where we get to play during the awakening and respectively, the dominance of Gormoth. The main idea is that each Chapter has its own rules and atmosphere and is unique. I am VERY excited for this new journey!
Key bindings - now players can customize their input. I know this was a very requested feature and I made it a top priority.
New villager tutorial - a proper gameplay tutorial has been implemented. Check it out, it’s really cool and it also gives some rewards. It kinda makes me wish I was able to create a single player campaign for the game:D
New engine version - this doesn’t do much for players but in terms of game’s structure and performance it’s a big win for me.
Bug fixing - lots and lots of bugs were fixed and lots of new bugs were introduced with the new engine version. Please remember this is an Early Access and I am counting on the community to find and report new bugs, bad texts and weird behaviors. As a solo dev working on a multiplayer game there’s only so much testing I can do on my own. I really aim for a smooth, AAA, experience but I need your help.
BALANCING - Burning Shrines now also slow the monster when he’s in the village - The Church instantly depletes the monster of power
KNOWN ISSUES: - The monster progress bar cannot register the gained XP if it doesn’t has enough XP to gain a new level - There’s an Inventory exploit that allows players to switch items and food between villagers - There’s sometimes an Inventory display bug when the Inventory is full.
So let’s start the year with a big win and give this game a proper welcome with this new update!
