8BitMMO is now fully Free to Play on Steam! As I explained on the store page, previously I was very worried about being able to handle server scalability. I wanted to initially limit the number of players online by requiring a premium pack purchase -- that way I could be sure that the servers were able to handle the load. Many of you were disappointed by this decision, and I understand your frustration.

Based on how well the servers were able to handle yesterday's load, I am now feeling confident we will be able to handle the server load of open access to everyone. Based on this and your feedback, I have decided to open up access today.

If you like, you are still able to purchase the founder packs. Note that for the founder packs, the game checks & grants them when you boot up the game's launcher, so if you do buy them, please be sure to restart the game.

If you purchased a founder pack yesterday, I am very appreciative of your support. While the game is now available to all for free, they will not be receiving the gold, plat, and hat bonuses that are exclusive to you -- so I hope you will still consider your purchase worthwhile.

We are Live!
8BitMMO is now publicly playable via Steam! Having worked on this game for the past twelve years, I am so excited to bring 8BitMMO today to the Steam community. I very much hope you enjoy playing it. See you in-game! :)

Launch Target: Friday the 13th
All beta tokens have been sent out! You should have one in your inbox now if you signed up for the windows beta (linux & mac are still to come post-early access launch).

If you missed it, not to worry - I am hoping to launch the game this lucky Friday the 13th on Early Access! I've added a number of servers and done a fair bit of load testing, so fingers crossed we should be able to handle the launch load. Fun fact: I'm now paying more for servers than my rent, lol -_-

Thanks everyone for the bug reports, suggestions, and generally being active in-game and in the community. It's so awesome to see the community grow! :D
