A-Escape VR

Update for April 6th

Patch notes:

  • Fixed a bug where holding a prop with both hands then teleporting would cause the prop to exhibit undesirable behavior
  • Fixed an issue where you could teleport on props inside the tutorial room

Hello again,

My apologies to those who were enjoying the thrill of flight via teleporting on a cassette tape a bunch of times, but everything must come to an end eventually.

Many thanks to the player who pointed out the issue with teleporting while holding objects to me earlier today, I would have never encountered it otherwise. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused anyone, the bug is now fixed and should no longer occur.

Again, if you encounter any bugs, we strongly recommend you post a bug report in the community discussions so we can keep track of them and post updates on them.

Thank you,
- Thomas

Update for April 1st

Patch notes:

  • Changed how objects behave when being held while teleporting

It's a small update today. This should keep objects from getting caught on things they shouldn't get caught on, which often resulted in the object flying off. I can't promise this will 100% fix the issue some users are having with objects disappearing, because neither me nor any of my play testers have encountered this specific bug and can't run test cases to try and find the cause of it.

That being said, if a prop disappears, press the menu button and press the reset props button. It's a simple fix you can do yourself without having to restart the entire room and will retain your current progress.

If you encounter any bugs, we strongly recommend you post a bug report in the community discussions so we can keep track of them and post updates on them accordingly.

Thank you.
- Thomas

A-Escape VR will be available on March 31st!

Hello again!

So as you can guess from the title, we have a release date! We will be releasing A-Escape VR on March 31st, 2017. The game will be available for $9.99 and will feature two chapters: Chapter 0: Julia and Chapter 1: A House in the Woods.

Each chapter is a self-contained story, and they both have their own unique puzzles for you to solve.

Chapter 0 is the same as the demo you can download right now. It is designed to be completed in about 30 minutes and follows your story as a kidnapped victim left alone in a psychopath's abandoned shack. As you go through the room you will find out about the previous victim as you escape.

Chapter 1 is a brand new escape room from A-Escape offering an escape room experience designed to be completed in one hour. While on a camping trip, you follow a mysterious light towards a house sitting in the middle of the woods. As the door locks behind you, you discover that you may not be the only one in there. In this room, you have one hour to escape. If you exit in time, you will avoid the terror lying in wait. After one hour though, if you try to escape you'll be greeted by a... special guest. Stay sharp, stay focused, and maybe you'll survive.

We'd like to extend a very sincere thank you to each and every player that took the time to play the A-Escape VR demo over the past few months. We hope you all are as excited to play the new room as we are to release this for you all to enjoy.

See you on March 31st!

Until next time,
- Thomas

Updated Demo and Announcement!

Hello everyone!

Today we've uploaded a new build of the A-Escape VR demo for you all to enjoy. This demo, as before, is free and includes one room that is designed to be completed in 30 minutes. It also has a tutorial room to allow users to practice interacting with the locks in a stress-free environment.

The included episode in the demo, Episode 0: Julia, is still the same, but there is now a new tutorial room for users to get acquainted with the controls.

This tutorial has been frequently requested, and as we approach the release date of the full release of A-Escape VR, we hope this update will encourage those who were confused with the control scheme before to go back and try it again with help from the tutorial.

You can find a changelog for the updated demo at the end of this announcement. Enjoy!

Speaking of release dates, we're now pushing the release date up from December 2017! We are now releasing A-Escape VR in the upcoming weeks instead, slating the release for late March or early April.

The new room is the first full-length escape room for A-Escape VR, titled "Episode 1: A House in the Woods."

A new gameplay teaser has been uploaded on the store page, showing the setting for the new room and giving you all a glimpse into the first full-length A-Escape VR experience.

We're very excited to release this new chapter for you all to enjoy, and we hope you're all just as excited as we are! Once we decide on a final release date, we will post another announcement to let you all know!

Changelog for March 17th 2017

Demo

  • Replaced splash screen with the official A-Escape Logo
  • Added a new tutorial room, with diagrams and voiceovers explaining the controls of each lock found in the game. Insert a tape into one of the tape decks to hear the explanations.
  • Added a combination lock which appears in the tutorial but does not appear in Chapter 0.
  • Changed the volume of the crowbar so it matches the volume of other props
  • Added guides on the track pad for slide locks and number locks. These will appear when interacting with a lock to help guide your thumb in the right position when trying to interact with a lock.
  • Added a floor height adjustment option in the menu. You can now lower or raise your playspace to make reaching objects on the ground easier. Playspace adjustments will stay consistent between teleports until you load a new room.
  • Added a slide lock in the menu. This is handy for long slide lock combinations, as it allows you to keep track of a combination and use it when you need it without having to go back and forth between clues.
