Demo Now Available!

Hey there again everyone, Steam approved the demo build faster than I thought they would have so I'm going to have good news about being ahead of schedule for once! Beta testing has also finished up and while there are the minor bugs that are listed in the previous announcement, nothing gamebreaking was found. I'm excited to finally be able to at least share a small snippet of my progress with you all, and I encourage you to leave feedback and bugs in the discussions!

Steam Demo Release Date!

Hello there all! I apologize greatly for the lack of communication especially regarding the delay in the early access release once again. I had a very personal issue that I was dealing with that delayed me from working on the game as much as I would have liked, resulting in the abrupt release date change. I apologize again for the matter and will be taking steps in such a matter than it will not happen again. For now the release date is in the window of May 2019 to give myself plenty of time for polish, but it has the potential to release before then. If so, I will update accordingly.

For some more positive news, August 2nd is the scheduled release date for the Steam version of the Above and Below demo. It is currently being beta tested to ensure a smooth release. This can be considered demo version 1.4 and thus has differences from the 1.3 versions that can be found on Gamejolt, RPGMaker MV workshop, and the RPGMaker.net forums.

Changes include:
-Updated dialogue
-Patch of a game-breaking bug that occurs in Shasla Village once the player has finished the story segment in Twin Pines church.
- The quest, "Missing Stuff" has been updated to require the player to collect 3 Stuff from Stuff Slimes before the quest is able to be completed.
-Fixed a glitch that allowed the player to complete the quest, "Missing Stuff" before even acquiring the quest.
-Tuned up hit detection in the LMBS
-Added a simple overworld tutorial once Arietta awakes from the first dream.
-Added a simple battle tutorial when Arietta initiates the battle with the Dream Slime.

Known Issues:
-When entering a battle with a Stuff Slime encounter, there is about a 2 second delay before the battle will begin. This is due to background code running, and I will be working on a fix to minimize the delay for the early access release.
-Hit detection is still not at the level I want it to be at and thus may still feel a bit clunky in battle. Please note that improvements are being worked on for the early access version.
-Minor overworld collision issues.

Change of Release Date

Hey everyone,

I'm just going to be clear here, the November release date isn't happening. I've tried my best to get the first version of early access up to the standard I want it to be, but it still needs a lot more polish. I want to release something I can feel good about, that's why there's going to be a delay. I'm looking in the area of May 2018, that'll give me time to get all the loose strings tied and perhaps add in some extra content that I wasn't planning for. Sorry for the delay, but I really want this release to be the best it can. I hope you all understand.
