Just testing Steam achievements for the first time. There should be an achievement for beating level 20 now (if you already did this you should get it automatically). More updates coming soon!
update 27 May 2022
Added car destruction animations & sounds
Added disgusting noises for blinding bottle throwers
NEXT STEPS:
Create a controls guide for the controller
I'll try to keep the pace of updates as frequent as possible, thanks guys!
update 26 may 2022
Added full controller support - the entire game / all menus should be able to be navigated now with the controller, regardless of your input settings for gameplay (controller always works in menus)
Major cleanup & organization of code completed in preparation for more updates
NEXT STEPS:
Create a controls guide for the controller
Add some funny disgusting noises for blinding throwers (with the option to turn them off)
More updates coming soon, thanks for your support guys!
update 18 may, also do you want peepeepoopoo sounds?
Added a second layout for controllers where the aimer simply rotates with the joystick but doesn't zoom in or out with pressure
Added settings for joystick sensitivity and aimer distance
Please let me know if you are able to customize your controller to perform the way you want. If none of the settings feel good: I advise using the mouse and keyboard instead. For this game, the mouse seems to not have as much of a sacrifice of accuracy for speed (or vice versa) the way the joystick does. I recommend the mouse! But I've added several controller options for those who prefer controllers.
NEXT STEPS:
Create a controls guide for the controller
Clean up, organize and document the code in preparation for bigger updates with more substantial content (new weapons, enemies, etc)
I know the blinding enemies are annoying (part of what makes the game fun and challenging) but I thought I should ask you guys before subjecting you to disgusting noises when the bottles hit you.
Should I add sound effects for the peepeepoopoo?
update 13 may 2022
Added windowed mode with adjustable size - there should be way to make the game work on any monitor now (also twitch streamers should have an easier time with their screen set up)
Fixed the default controls / override for controllers (they must be selected in the options now so they won't override the mouse any more - you can leave your controller plugged in!)
Fixed all known remaining resolution issues for the player death / pause screen etc (please let me know if any more occur)
Fixed a bug where the player stays red if they beat the level while getting hit
Added several new controls to the pause menu and main menu
NEXT STEPS:
Add a second controller layout that uses a more traditional right joystick aiming for twin stick shooters
Create a controls guide for the gamepad / controller use
Thanks again guys. Very soon I can get to adding new content to the game (not just hardware & screen support)!
update 10 may 2022
Removed the eye-straining red damage flash, added a gentle red border + player flash + pain sound
Improved support for the player death animation for non-1080p resolutions (please let me know if they don't look right on your screen and what resolution you have!)
Balanced sound effect volume (AR15 and pistol are equalized with other sounds now)
Added a brick dust cloud effect + sound to enemy brick throwers
Added shell ejection sprites to all firearms
NEXT STEPS:
Continue improving the controller use, especially aiming with the right joystick (please let me know how it works - the joystick doesn't seem to perform as well as the mouse)
Add windowed mode and preserve aspect ratio for ultra wide resolutions / non-16:9 screens
Create a controls guide for the gamepad / controller use
Thanks for all your support guys!
I will work out the best possible system for controller support, especially aiming with the right joystick, based on your feedback (I won't leave it the way it is).
To anyone who was having severe eye strain and headaches from the red damage flashes: please let me know if the new system avoids eye strain.
And to everyone with 4K monitors or bigger, please let me know if the player death animation looks right (should have a black and white screenshot of the moment you died and an angel animation).
update 9 May 2022
Made weapon drops more obvious with a spawning sound and light flash (don't want people to miss them anymore)
NEXT STEPS:
Continue improving the controller use, especially aiming with the right joystick (please let me know how it works - the joystick doesn't seem to perform as well as the mouse)
Add an option to turn off the red damage effect that flashes on the screen
Fix the player death animation on non-1080p resolutions
Add windowed mode and preserve aspect ratio for ultra wide resolutions / non-16:9 screens
Create a controls guide for the gamepad / controller use
Thanks guys!
sorry the volume controls update turned off sound - should be back by default!
Please let me know if anyone is still finding the sound turned off by default after this update. The volume controls are located in the pause menu on any level (I'll be adding settings options to the main menu soon too).
update 8 may 2022
Added volume controls
Added controller support
Submitted the .exe to Bitdefender for whitelisting (shouldn't quarantine anymore - please let me know if anyone still has this problem)
Make weapon drops more obvious (play a sound, display a light flash, and a circle on the ground underneath the weapon)
Create a controls guide for the gamepad / controller use
Thanks again guys! Keep providing feedback and I'll keep adding features.
