MULTIPLAYER & more!



Hello everyone! Long time no see!

We were doing some company management, along planning and defining a new roadmap for the game development. Our most sincere apologies in case you missed us!


UPDATE POLICY:


First of all, we are forced to change the pace of updates for the coming months due to the work requirements of the next updates. Updates will come more distanced in time, but with more relevant content.

We intend to update at least once a month, but this is not a fixed time. Updates can take 3 ,4 or 5 weeks depending on the amount of work needed to complete them. But panic not! We will continue working and updating every time we have something interesting or meaningful for you.


With this in mind, these are some of the updates you can expect in the forthcoming months:


MUL-TI-PLA-YER:


Yes, you read right. Multiplayer is coming.
Last few weeks we were building the foundations on which multiplayer will settle. It was a hard work but is done now. This feature will require some time, but we expect to have a funcional multiplayer in early 2019. Yay!


NEW UI:

Our current UI does not present the information as we wanted/intended, there is a lot of room for improvement. Also, it does not match the quality we desired.
Hopefully, the new UI will let everyone know how to use all the tools, elements and systems of the game in an user friendly way. We reduced the quantity of windows and menus, standardized some tools and buttons and even some screen layouts so you will find everything you need easy & fast.


NEW PLANES!:

New model of planes will be included soon, with more detail, animations... and love!.


NEW FEEDBACK:




New feedback system will be implemented to complete the experience with the more relevant info you will need during the game. Aspects like where your money goes or comes, how many of any resource you have or lack and a bunch of other info will be improved in the near future.


OTHER STUFF:



  • Photography: Our artist have redefined the style of game’s graphics to improve scene reading, difference elements and give relevance to the interesting actors in each case. This will be implemented after multiplayer and UI tasks are done.
  • Bugs & corrections: After multiplayer is running, we will invest some time making corrections and fixes to the game in order to achieve an error-free smooth robust product.

Update #6 - HUGE performance improvement and more!



Hi there, Hoomans!!

We are very excited about this update.
We have been updating the Unreal Engine version to the last available this past few weeks.

This change came with a few bugs we had to address, but we did gain a lot more than we thought.

The main change is in the performance. Now the game runs smoothly even on low spec computers! You should really try it and enjoy the new fps!

Also, we have the pleasure to present a new room: The mine!


This new room is only available in "The Lab" gamemode at the moment.

The main function of this room is to repair the ground. Also, provides a little passive source of income.

In addition to this improvements, here is the changelog of the most remarkable changes in this version:

  • NEW ROOM: The mine
  • HUGE, VERY HUGE, even colossal FPS improvement.
  • Improved stability of the game, no more frame peaks.
  • Reduced camera pan speed, now works with hoomans.
  • Increased camera zoom speed.

Surprise Update! Tutorial (Part 2)



Hello Hoomans!!

*These last updates were delivered directly to the default branch and will continue like that for you to try the new content, until we reach a certain number of players.

Surprise update in your face!!

Yeees, we know today was not an update fryday but... we really wanted to have an almost-complete tutorial for you to try ASAP and give us some feedback.

In addition to the previous update, now you can play 6 levels total, 3 new included today. This 6 levels will guide you through the main mechanics of the game.

Here is the changelog of the most remarkable changes in this version:

  • Added 3 new maps of tutorial.
  • Fixed plane visualization room not displaying planes.
  • Fixed level objectives in level 03.
  • Fixed narrative messages not displaying right in level 03.
  • Balanced AI attack times for levels 01 - 03.
  • Fixed energy bug with breeding room.
  • Balancing of levels starting money.
  • Fixed bomb factory bomb's cost.
  • Removed lose time trigger from maps.
  • Fixed blocked expeditions in janitor room.
  • Colision box of defenses adjusted to the graphic.
  • Increased missile velocity.
  • Fixed defense destructibles not displaying properly.
  • Fixed plane controls graphic.
  • Added camera transition to queen if you win or lose a game.
  • Balanced explorers reward (now you get more chunks for expedition).
  • Fixed napalm doing A LOT of damage.
  • Fixed explorers going out of bunker but never starting expeditions.
  • Fixed AI cucas spawn on player's bunker.
  • Fixed camera limits.
  • Kamikaze planes now breaks ground.

Update #4 - Tutorial (Part I)



Hi there, cucas!

This fryday we bring you a new update to Acucalypse!

We have been working on the tutorial of the game integrated as part of the campaign. At this time, the tutorial has only 3 maps, but more are coming (probably) the next week!

This time we have uploaded the new build to the default branch so everyone must have it.
You can find the tutorial clicking on "PLAY" in the main menu.

Some of you told us about the tutorial and was something we wanted to priorize it before starting to develop other features so... here it is!

As usual, we did a bunch of fixing, corrections and performance improvements in order to archieve the quality we want for the game (we know, there is a lot to do :P). Here is the changelog of the most remarkable changes:


  • Added tutorial.
  • Added room limitations to levels.
  • Fixed bug with cucas in rooms when deleted.
  • Fixed bug with resources feedback.
  • Fixed some music & sound issues.
  • Fixed fps dropping bug on the first level of the game.
  • Fixed bombs feedback, now the crosshair around the bomb should be displayed properly.
  • Fixed 'The Lab' tutorial.
  • Fixed repair tool not working properly.
  • Fixed repair feedback in bunker entrances not working properly.
  • Fixed explorer's bug in tutorial level 3.
  • Improved defense radar performance.
  • Improved cucas load on the game.
  • Improved LODs.
  • Removed 'Status' and 'difficulty' from level buttons.

  • Implemented auto repair on defenses for tutorial maps.

Update Fryday... NOT!



Hello Hoomans!

Today we have to tell you that we had to postpone this update.
We had an intense two weeks of meetings and documents for possible investors.
Being as few as we are, we had to sacrifice some work time for the company.

But worry not! Because next update will be... HUGE!

What we have done is to update the 'default' branch of the game to the latest build for everyone to test.
Right now everybody should have the latest content regardless of the branch.

Update #3 - AI attacks!



Hello Hoomans! Today is Update Friday! Yay!

Update #3 is up on the 'experimental' branch and will be there for the next 2 weeks for you to test it.

The main change for this update is... AI attacks to your bunker! :D

We introduce you the first iteration of AI system! Now the game is much more interesting and intense, we hope you enjoy this new feature.

*(These attacks are only available in "The Lab" mode at the moment.)

These are the changes of the Update #3:




  • NEW AI SYSTEM: The AI will try to kill your Queen if you don't destroy the enemy's Queen first! Bombs save the Queen!
  • Bomb construction system rework: We have changed how the bomb pieces affect the stats of the bomb. You should now appreciate more differences between the effect of the pieces.
  • Plane construction system rework: We did the same with the planes. Above all with the cargo part, responsible for the amount of bombs you can carry on a plane.
  • Changed values of every part of planes and bombs.
  • Added new loading screens with mini-tutorials and/or tips.
  • Added 'AI attack warning' graphic before an attack from AI.
  • Added 'Bloom' to options menu.
  • Added camera shake when bombs explode.
  • Fixed 'Spy enemy' button.
  • Fixed bombs visual, now bobs will not show shrapnel attached to the body.
  • Fixed kamikaze planes not damaging hallways.
  • Fixed bug with explorers blocking explorations queue when they die.
  • CONTROLS: Camera pan now is binded to Mouse 3 (Mouse wheel button)


Update #2 has been moved to the 'default' branch of the game, so it must be available for everyone already.

Acucalypse - Update #2



Hello Hoomans!

Today we had delivered the second update of the game as part of our 2 week plan to add content to the game.

These are the changes of the Update #2:




  • Rework of the repair and destruction tool: Preparing the ground for the AI attack system that will be delivered in a few weeks.
    -> These tools now have two modes: 'single click' on a room and/or 'click & hold' to cover an area.
  • Construction menu rework: Now you can find the 'repair' and 'delete' tools, 'launch attack' and 'spy enemy' buttons easily in the upper left corner of the construction menu.
  • Added new mouse cursor graphics.
  • Added sky colour cycle. Beautiful!
  • Added load screens with short tutorials/tips.
  • Fixed bug with janitor.
  • Fixed sound levels of some rooms/UIs.
  • Minor UI corrections & bug fixing.


This update will be on the 'experimental' branch for the next 2 weeks.

Update #1 has been delivered to the 'default' branch of the game, so it must be available for everyone with the default version.

First game update! Updates every 2 weeks plan in progress.



ACUCALPSE: Update #1



Hello Hoomans!

Today begins the update schedule we planned to deliver changes, content and fixes to the game. This first update contains the changes listed below:

  • HUGE performance improvement: The game now will behave smoothly both in bunker management and attack.
  • Added resources feedback: Now rooms indicate lack of resources (workers & energy).
  • Added a lot of sounds to player’s actions and UIs (clicks, buttons, constructions…).
  • Added damage types: Each kind of bomb (Rock, fire, acid…) will behave differently depending on the hitted entity. SPOILER: i.e: Acid does not affect ground anymore.
  • Added visual feedback to energy system: When a room does not have sufficient energy supply the lights go off.
  • Priority UIs deactivated at the moment. We are reworking the whole system and will be added again when done.
  • Developer shortcuts removed.
  • Defence room reworked regarding slots for defences, energy management and workers.
  • Fixed bug with explorers not going out of bunker.
  • Fixed construction freezes when constructing rooms.
  • A lot of minor corrections and fixes.

As mentioned before in our last post, this new build will be under “experimental" branch in BETAS.

How can you test these new changes?



  1. Go to Acucalypse in your library -> Right click.
  2. Select BETAS tab.
  3. On the dropdown menu, select the “experimental” branch.

THE PLAN: Next months of develop



Hello Hoomans!

We want you to know what to expect about Acucalypse in the next few months and how will be done.

Here is a breakdown with the main MILESTONES of the plan:



  • Damage Types - Depending of bomb's nature, structures will be affected differently.
  • Bomb Behaviour - How defense's effect affects each bomb.
  • Resources feedback - Signs and info for better understanding of the game.
  • Bomb & plane module balancing - Balance modules to make bombs and planes more unique.
  • New Levels - New enemy bases and situations.
  • AI Attacks - To attack you and your bunker! :D
  • Defense balancing - Polish defences with the new behaviour and damage systems.
  • Barrel roll balancing - Make Barrell roll an awesome mechanic to dodge missiles.
  • Performance - Improve performance in general.
  • Corrections & bugs - Bug fixing.
  • Multiplayer (1vs1) - First multiplayer mode, 1 vs 1.


WHEN to spect this updates?


The idea is for us to follow the following pipeline:

  • Every 2 weeks we will collect all the changes and new features to make an update.
  • This update will be deployed on the testing branch of the game.
  • The update will be there 2 weeks for testing until a new update comes to take relief and the old will be deployed to everyone.

This pipeline will ensure updates with fresh stuff at least 2 times/month for you to test and give us your opinion about changes.

REMINDER: How to change game's branch from default to test.


  1. Right click on the game in your library -> Properties.
  2. Click on "BETAS" tab.
  3. Select the one you are looking for.

Once you select a branch, Steam will download the new version. Enjoy!
