News: Battlefields are being replaced as part of first Major Update for Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus

Hello, everyone! Glenn and I are writing this post to let you know about a big change that's coming as part of our first Major Update for Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus.

In response to some feedback received about the look and feel of the battlefields, Glenn has painstakingly recreated each of the three existing maps to improve and extend Dominus' aesthetics—in doing so, he has also set a new, much higher bar, and from which all the battlefields yet to come will likewise benefit.

This change in approach to battlefield design is actually what has caused the first Major Update to take as long as it has. But we think it's worth the wait—we hope you will agree.

We have posted screenshots of the replacement Desert Wastes battlefield, which is now being tested in-game, to our Facebook page

We'll be posting screenshots of the other new maps when they're ready.

On behalf of Glenn and myself, THANK YOU for your continued support for us and Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus through our Early Access journey. Your feedback, your Steam reviews and your enthusiasm has been fantastic and is very much appreciated. We hope you will continue to add your voices, sharing your thoughts and opinions with us, and help make Dominus the best game we can make it. :)

Updated! New Warlord Battle Titan variant!

We have added a new Warlord variant today. This new Warlord variant is packing a Sunfury Plasma Cannon and a Volcano Cannon, supported by twin caracace-mounter Laser Blasters, making it a VERY serious beast on the battlefield.

Update makes Dominus' AI a tougher opponent

This fortnight's update brings further AI tweaks aimed at improving the challenge it presents to veteran players. There's a lot more work needed on the AI front, but we're happy it's on the right track.

The AI now better prioritises potential targets based on line of sight and proximity. It also makes better, smarter use of Overwatch. From our testing, it uses Overwatch about as frequently as we do, so that's feeling about right.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback, questions and words of encouragement in our Steam Discussion forums as Glenn and I continue the journey of bringing Adeptus Titanicus to your PCs. It's all extremely helpful and very much appreciated.

That's all for now. See you around the Steam Discussion forums!

Updated! AI changes and a new Warhound variant!

Another Warhound variant has been added to Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus, combining a Vulcan Mega-Bolter with the new Turbo Laser Destructor for a mid-tier Scout Titan that packs a decent punch without the pricey points cost of the more powerful variants. The new Warhound TL|VM variant is available for immediate deployment in your single- and multi-player games.

This update also brings a much-needed overhaul of the AI. It selects targets more intelligently, resulting in fewer wasted turns, and it will now use Overwatch. Combined with the new scenarios released in last week's update, we hope veteran Legates will get a fresh challenge.

Latest update replaces Skirmish AI and scenario play army lists for new challenges!

Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus has just been updated again. This minor update brings in a number of important bug-fixes (full details in the Update Notes in our Steam Discussions forums), but much more exciting is that it also brings in the first revisions for the single-player Skirmish AI and scenario army lists.

All Skirmish enemy AI forces and all 12 scenario army lists (player and enemy AI) have been remade to make use of the Titan variants we have added since launch. These new lists should provide fresh challenges to veteran Legates.

WHAT'S NEXT?

From here, while we will of course continue to fix bugs and release new variants in the minor udpates, our main focus continues to be preparation of the first Major Update for release, which will bring in Close Combat and other great features—see our Steam store page for more information.

The first Major Update has the highest priority for us; however, we will also be putting effort into expanding the AI's toolkit and ensuring its challenge level is increased. We are aware that some players are finding the AI too easy, and we're aiming to remedy this with incremental changes over future updates.

Update - anti-armour Warhound variant added!

We've added a new Warhound variant to Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus. This latest Warhound variant packs twin Turbo Laser Destructors for great anti-armour capability!

Update - new Warhound variant and new weapon system added!

Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus has just received its latest Titan variant—a Warhound that combines an Inferno Cannon for short-range work with the new Turbo Laser Destructor weapon system! This new Warhound variant is available for deployment right now in your single- and multi-player games.

We have also implemented several bug-fixes that were messing with player chi. See the full update notes below for details.

MEET THE TURBO LASER DESTRUCTOR

The Turbo Laser Destructor is the smaller cousin of the Laser Blaster. It offers a lesser rate of fire and a reduced range when compared with its larger peer, but also comes at a lower points cost than the beastly Laser Blaster. The Turbo Laser Destructor is a potent weapon and favoured by Warhound crews needing enhanced anti-armour capability over what the Vulcan Mega Bolter can provide.

The Turbo Laser Destructor is primarily intended for use on Scout Titans, which cannot carry the weight of a Laser Blaster; however, the Turbo Laser Destructor can also be mounted on Battle Titan carapace, enabling its use on Warlords and Reavers.

New Warhound variant updated!

Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus has been updated again, this time adding a new Warhound Titan variant armed with dual Vulcan Mega Bolters! The new Warhound variant is available to play now in both single-player and multi-player!

The "See! We Do Listen!" Update

We have just released an update that addresses some of the feedback we have received since the launch of Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus—specifically, ways the game's UIX might be improved.

NEW TIME-COMPRESSION FEATURE ADDED TO MARCH ORDERS

We have often received feedback that Dominus feels too slow in the early stages of the game—most notably on the first turn, which is usually dedicated to manoeuvring your forces. To improve this, as a trial, we have implemented a time-compression feature on March order execution in single-player. This will cause time to move at three times normal speed while the Titan is executing its March order.

If this single-player trial is well-received, we can add this to multi-player games too.

NEW BATTLE LOG FEATURE ADDED

A feature we have often seen requested is a log that would enable players to review recent events for a greater understanding of what's happening behind the scenes in the game.

In response to these requests, we are very pleased to let you know we have added a new Battle Log feature to both single-player and multi-player.

The Battle Log reveals the mechanics underlying Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus, providing detailed information about the current game.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

As with all aspects of Dominus, we will be reviewing feedback we receive about the Battle Log and Time-Compression on March features, identifying what is working and what needs improvement.

Let us know what you think of these additions here in our Steam Discussions forums. We look forward to reading your feedback.

Update - new Warlord variant available!

We have updated Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus again, this time adding another new Warlord Titan variant! Armed with twin Volcano Cannons and dual Laser Blasters, this latest addition is perhaps the most powerful Warlord yet—but it comes at a hefty price of 1025 points.
