Adore 0.3.0 - Pact with Draknar!
Hi, Adorers! This is our biggest update so far. We have a lot of new things to share with you. First of all, we want to thank you so much for all the critiques and feedbacks. We drastically changed our plans for the future based on the community feedback. Check the end of the post to know more about our Roadmap.
Here are the Patch notes:
New Creatures!
– Zarkee [Mystic]
Zarkee is a unique creature that needs to channel his attack before performing it. It deals a huge damage, but the channeling aspect makes him a very high risk/reward creature.
Special Attack: After hitting the first target, Zarkee jumps to another enemy nearby, repeating it one more time(it can come back to the first target).
– Breor [Beast]
Breor is a tank designed to create space for the player. His slow attacks keep him in the field for a longer period of time and his armor will absorb all the damage received.
Special Attack: When summoned, stuns all enemies around himself. For each enemy hit, gains an amount of Armor.
Armor: Ignore all negative effects (stun, freeze, slow, knockback, stagger).
– Frogma [Mystic]
Frogma throws a lava projectile that hits any enemy in his path. After hitting the enemy, it creates a lava puddle that deals damage per second to any foe inside it.
Special Attack: In each attack, Frogma throws two extra projectiles.
New Game + & ++
Our game has lots of innovation mechanics and that makes the learning curve a bit high at your first playthroughs. Because of that, Adore was balanced easier than we wanted. But once the players get usual to the new gameplay style of Adore, the game becomes much easier. To solve that, we are introducing two new difficulty modes:
Strong Curse Power
Insane Curse Power
You need to beat the current mode that you are in, to play the next one.
New Stamina System
The previous system was enabling the player to spam all 4 creatures at the same time to attack a target. That's not what we want for our game(a mindless button smash). We want Adore to have a strategic fight where you need to choose the best creature to invoke in each situation.
- With the new stamina system, you have 2 bars, each summoned creature consumes one bar. - Dodge and Recall now don't cost stamina. But they stop the stamina recovery for 1 second. - We significantly increased the stamina recovery, so you can keep your combos. - The game has strong stamina management and we decided to put the new stamina UI on the character's foot, so you can visualize it better.
Mechanics
- Pact with Draknar(New!): At any time, you can offer your maximum health in exchange for an essence.
- Return by Touch: If your creature returns to you by touch, you gain 1 stamina bar. (This was previously an item. but we moved to an unlockable mechanic due to the new stamina system).
- Walk Control: You can take full control of the movement of your creature.
Implementations
- [ Community Suggestion ] - The name of the bosses now appears in their health bar. - Now, cursed creatures spawn on boss fights. It will make the boss fights more dynamic and there was some situation were your creatures die in the boss fights and you end up with few creatures, support creatures or even with no creature. Even if you have no essence, you now can use the new mechanic "Pact with Draknar"(described further in this patch notes) to trade 30 maximum health for an essence.
- Spawned creatures don't give XP and Gold. - The essence bonus now gives you + 10% of stamina regeneration instead of maximum stamina.
Balance
- [ Community Suggestion ] - On the Regular difficulty, bosses deal less damage and have less health. - [ Community Suggestion ] - Fragment's drop rate increased from 10% to 25%. - Abbu's synergy now gives 2 extra orbs instead of 3. - Abbu's synergy now gives 15% attack speed instead of 30%.
Krongur's charge now stops chasing the target if it's close to it.
Krongur's rock attack now divides into three pieces.
- [ Community Suggestion ] (Mouse & Keyboard) Interact button now changed from left mouse to "F". - Dodge and Recall now don't cost stamina. But they stop the stamina recovery for 1 second. - The items Dodging Claw and Winged Sandals don't cost any stamina now. - General optimizations in performance - All the items that used to increase player's maximum stamina now increase player's stamina regeneration. - Adjusted all selected circles on the foot of the creatures. - The creatures of the player now have an increased stagger resist (only at Regular difficulty). - Tutorial rework with the new implementations. - Reordered all unlockable mechanics, creatures and items. - Adjustments to the Score Screen.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where the player could not see the fragment behind the environment. - Fixed the VFX of Azuno's slow not appearing on the target. - Fixed a bug involving Felwin's death. - Fixed a bug that was causing the player to dodge in a random direction. - Fixed a Pot at Gaterdrik's forest that was impossible to break. - Fixed a bug when using the statue would freeze the player's animation. - Fixed a bug causing Meecra(from the last boss) to stop. - Fixed a bug allowing the player to recall disabled creatures.
Roadmap
We received lots of feedback regarding being able to keep your creatures. We thought that would break the variety of each run, a pillar of roguelikes/lites. But we've been discussing about that and we finally found great ideas to implement Creature Collecting in our game. That will be the focus of our next Major update: Creature Collecting. Stay tuned.

Adjustments
- [ Community Suggestion ] Now you can avoid the projectiles of Mandra and Abbu without rolling. - Boss area reward now spawns after a small amount of time(like after clearing a common area). - Some dialogues were removed until storytelling improvements.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Player's Icy missing the attack if an ally using Fouboo's shield was near. - Fixed Felwin getting stuck in run animation if its special was used while invoked. - Fixed Creature walking while disabled (Freeze or Stun effects). - Fixed Save Slots menu images not changing to PS4 icons. - Fixed: Holding a creature then recalling another one would make the first creature freeze the animation after releasing its button.
