I know it has been a while since an update. I wanted to let you know what is going on with AEU. The bottom line is that AEU needs a lot of work, the sort of work that needs to happen from the ground up. There are some fundamental issues that can't simply be fixed without a total rewrite. A plan was drawn up to address this and it will be implemented at the proper time. That time is scheduled to be in 2023.
> Why so long? The answer is simple. I want AEU to be a great game but the answer is simply time and money. It's going to take more time than I have at my disposal to make it into the game it should be before bills need to be paid.
> Does this mean AEU is dead? Not at all. But it does mean that there isn't any new updates currently planned for this year. Instead, I have a different game with a more reasonable development cycle well underway, set to release a demo very soon. In addition, a massive worldbuilding initiative is being undertaken between dev work which AEU will benefit from greatly.
> A different game? How do I know this won't result in the same thing? Two reasons. AEU was my first released game. I made mistakes and I will own up to that. I have returned wiser and more humble. In addition, I will not accept one single dime until the game is ready to play.
> What is this new game? Snipe Hunt. A VR supported horror maze game with a twist set in the old west. It will have a demo that is partaking in the Steam Next Fest this June. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1975370/Snipe_Hunt/
Meet the races of AEU's universe.
After much painstaking work, we are pleased to introduce to you the races of AEU.
Humans: The humans are a race of contradictions. They are both warmongering and diplomatic, industrial and artistic. Their versatility often confuses the other races.
Fictex: The fictex are a race of robotic merchants created solely to sell wares to their creators. They conquered their creators who had little interest in what they were selling.
Ironclad: The ironclads are a cybernetic race. They were once biological but rejected their organics in favor of mechanical parts. They value life little over the raw resources they find.
Kris: The Kris are an AI race created to cure a deadly plague ravaging their creators' homeworld. They succeeded in eradicating the plague by eradicating their creators.
Devana: The devana are a race of demonic socialites. They are wildly religious and will defend their beliefs to the death but would rather it didn't come to that.
Lazulians: The lazulians are an eldritch race of diplomatic prowess. They are empaths who employ their skills to improve relations with other cultures. They fear the return of the 'great old one'.
Vidar: The vidar are a race of tree people that are complete technophiles. They used their tech to preserve their home planet's quality from countles disasters turning it into a natural paradise.
Viscy: The viscy are a race of goo-like people that tend towards engineering. They are amorphous but frequently assume a humanoid form when speaking. They appear friendly but are very secretive.
Each new race has their own unique AI and playstyle. Each race gains unique bonuses at the start of the game such as free traits, already known techs, or even getting a free LSP or Agent of a certain type in every new territory they acquire.
Additionally, this patch adds many bug fixes, a cleaner UI and a fancier screen to choose your race and other starting options.
Moving forward, races will be developed alongside sockets sockets. Each race will be getting their own unique graphics in preparation for the global events system. Sockets will be fleshed out and eventually be equippable in-game for various bonuses and gameplay changes.

Added: - Added Steam Achievements. Only a few basics were added so far but more will be added later. - Added visible ships for displaying combat, settling territories and refortifying armies. - Added a new territory view that can be accessed with the 'V' key when a territory is selected which shows the entire star system view. - Added tooltips to many major UI windows. Sockets: Socket items and Steam drop logic were added to AEU. Sockets are planned to grant both boosts and penalties when equipped. They come in three types; Memory Cores, Logic Units and Processing Units. When the system is complete it will be possible to equip two memory cores, two logic units and one processing unit. For now they will drop up to 4 times a day with a 15 minute cooldown between drops. Sockets dropped randomly will be tradable and marketable via the Steam Inventory Service. Start collecting today!
Steam Leaderboards Update
After several requests for it, Steam leaderboards have been added to AEU. There are now 6 leaderboards, one for each victory type(Domination, Diplomacy, Economy, Technology and Espionage) as well as one for general high scores. Expect these leaderboards to be reset a few times as AEU develops.
In addition, a random crash bug has been tracked down and fixed. If any more crashes are discovered, please report it so it can be found and fixed.
Finally, several tooltips with missing information have been fixed.
