Afterburn

Scoring + Radar blowing up

There are 3 ways to make a better score:

  • Be accurate: every kill is rewarded with extra points depending on your accuracy.
  • Be quick: the time left at the end of the mission will be converted in extra points.
  • Fly low or near objects: ⬆ look at the gif ⬆ and the "dangerous flying" pop-up.

Thats it. Getting closer to early access release and as usual, feedback is welcome!

Cargo first look

You might have seen a few glimpses of it in the old screenshots and gifs but now it is complete in all of its destructible glory.

Similarly to Furious Angels, bigger ships need to be destroyed in stages and for the cargo here you need to destroy two of its engines.

It is going to be the biggest ship for the EA release, which will have a total of 4 enemy types. I know its not much but hopefully they will be diverse enough from each other to guarantee a minimal core gameplay.

As usual, let me know what you think!

The "Falcon" Variants

First of all, my apologies for the lack of updates but I assure you I've been working hard on the game.

Below you can see the variants of the Falcon currently available. The "M" version features homing missiles but you have to work for it first:

The "C" version has better maneuverability and a powerful 30mm fixed gatling gun but aiming is harder:

As usual please let me know what you think and if you have any questions!

Brief Game Loop Explanation

Every game session in AFTERBURN is like a mini-campaign:

  • You start by selecting your aircraft, the "MK-1" version.
  • Then you play a series of missions, randomized each day.
  • If you fail you can quickly restart from the last mission you reached.
  • After each successful mission you can select an upgrade.

As you can see from the picture, each "mark" after "MK-1" represents an upgrade, at the moment I'm thinking about going up to "MK-5". The number of choices for each upgrade will vary, depending on the aircraft design.

Thats it for now, let me know if you have any questions!

*edit* This announcement was quite premature regarding the upgrade system, it was an experiment. I decided to go back to the original plan of having a list of aircrafts to select from, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

Early look at aircraft selection

The menu and the Valkyrie are still work in progress but you get the idea. If you have any feedback or questions, let me know!
