We're releasing our latest Agtnan update today with new music for the Octagon Lines arena, a few new models and a bug fix or two.
New background music for the Octagon Lines, giving every arena its own unique BGM.
New player character model, in preparation for future player updates
New cage model, because the old one looked too old.
Fixed one bug on Day Rings that caused the player to not actually fall to their death when they fell off the map, and another that caused the player to get stuck on some of the gears' corners.
Improved colored lighting in all arenas, giving them a more unique look.
Agtnan 1.41 - New Option and Custom Control Menus
This is a quick update to add a new in-game menu for easily configuring your graphics, resolution and controls.
Agtnan 1.41
ADDED: Improved main options screen with graphics level and resolution settings
ADDED: A customizable controls menu for setting/changing keybinds
Agtnan Now has a New Lower Price
With the progress we're making on Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence, we want to share it with more and more people, so we're lowering the purchase price - permanently!
This is a one-time event, so don't look for future price drops. However, don't expect it go back up, either - this is where it'll stay going forward (barring event sales and seasonal discounts).
What better time to jump on in and try to survive the Shutdown?
Pyramid Patterns Arena - Now Available
Today we’re releasing the first new map for Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence. Called Pyramid Patterns, it’s a compact arena with roving pyramids, harmless dust devils, warp pipes and, of course, the ever-ravenous Night Terrors.
We’ve also improved the mouse-look controls, fixed some bugs in the options menu, and re-made the level select menu to be more user-friendly and intuitive.
Our next major update (exact release window TBD, but hopefully by summer) will be focused on new player customization and skills, including new bomb types and game-changing abilities.
Agtnan v1.03 (Pyramid Patterns Patch)
MAJOR UPDATE: A new arena: Pyramid Patterns, a desert-themed arena with two small pyramid-shaped monoliths and a pair of warp pipes. The doors on the pyramids are locked in place for most of the match, but the pyramids themselves are not, and will move around the arena. The dust devils circling the arena are mostly harmless... usually.
ADD: Inserted a toggle to opt in or out of analytics tracking. Upon starting the game for the fist time post-patch, you will be asked to choose if you want to opt in to share your game analytics with us (to improve performance and find and fix errors). If you ever change your mind in the future, you can toggle this setting in the options menu at any time.
FIX: Re-wrote the camera/mouse look scripts to remove the jittering/stuttering that sprung up after the last fix.
FIX: Options that weren’t always saving accurately in the options menu (namely, the hints and control display toggles) have been fixed to save first time, every time.
FIX: Rewrote the bomb spawner timers so they consistently start in sync with one another.
CHANGED: Cleaned up the movement scripts for better responsiveness and less input lag.
CHANGED: On the stat panel, the deaths counter has been merged into one line with wins and matches, replaced with a win rate tracker.
CHANGED: The level select menu has been replaced with an updated version, showing a preview picture and short description of the arenas before you choose one.
Winter Sale and a New Upcoming Arena
It's time for the Steam Winter Sale and we're taking part, so if you haven't already, you can get Agtnan for 15% off for the duration of the sale. The big news, however, is that we're finally unveiling the next arena for Agtnan, and it's called Pyramid Patterns.
This new arena will include:
A pair of roaming pyramid-shaped monoliths
A network of warp tubes buried beneath the surface
Intrusive dust storms that can hide the terrors hunting you
Hidden areas to find and unlock
Appearing to be an open-air arena, any smart robot knows can't always trust your optical sensors.
The new arena will hopefully be ready for release shortly after the new year. Have a safe, happy holiday season everyone!
October 24th, 2019 Patch
We're happy to announce the Freedom of Movement patch, where we've re-written all of the player movement code to make it smoother, more reliable and more consistent across the board. It's a quick fix that should go a long way to making the game enjoyable for everyone in the long term.
Changelist:
ADD: New bomb dispensers have been added to Octagon Lines, for those times you need to rain explosions down on the Night Terrors
FIX: Rewrote all of the movement scripts to work more consistently across a wider range of hardware and framerates
FIX: Improved the timing sync for the conveyor belts in Portal Belts for smoother animation and movement
CHANGED: The fling mechanic on Octagon Lines has been dramatically lessened to improve consistency
Bomb and Timer Updates
We've pushed out another small update, addressing some quality of life issues. We unclogged a bomb spawner on DayRings, tidied up all of the spawn timers, added a new timer, and also give you the option to make the new timer go away.
ADDED: New countdown timer before matches to let players know how long before the first Night Terror spawns
ADDED: Toggle for text-based alerts and notifications, including DANGER and SAFE flashes and spawning notifications, if you want less text clogging the screen.
FIXED: Fixed the blue (giant) bomb spawner on DayRing. The Night Terrors thought they’d plugged it up, but we managed unclog it
FIXED: Bomb spawners are made more consistent by tying them to the global timer instead of individual ones.
Timer and Achievement Tracking improved
We've just posted an update that fixes a few small bugs and inconsistencies, including the stat page timer not showing hours and achievements being unreliable.
FIX: Timer on the stat page now reads Hours:Minutes:Seconds instead of just Minutes:Seconds when the player exceeds 60 minutes played
FIX: Creds now always properly count towards unlocking achievements.
FIX: Achievements for buying upgrades now reliably unlock as intended
It's Shutdown Time - Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence has Launched
Agtnan is now available! We're excited to see how it's received, but it's also time for us to dig back in and continue work on the new arenas we currently have in development. Every future update (arenas, game modes, features, etc) will be added at no additional cost - no DLC or microtransactions ever.
If you find anything that needs worked on, fixed, or just have some feedback for us, post it in Agtan's discussion page here on Steam.
Known Bug The play clock on the stats page doesn't show hours, only minutes and seconds. It'll be fixed in the first patch.
Agtnan coming soon to Early Access
We're putting the finishing touches on Agtnan as we prepare to launch it on Steam as an Early Access title. Yes, after some internal discussions, we've decided to officially designate Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence as an Early Access game. We're looking to have the community help grow and sculpt Agtnan as it evolves over the next few months, leading up the the full release before we transition to working full-time on the free story expansion.
The exact release date for Agtnan: Monster Shutdown Sequence to Early Access has not been announced yet, so look out for that in the near future.
