Changelog: Paths to Glory Patch 1

Fixes

A number of progression and reward issues in the Albion Journal have been addressed. These changes will take effect with this patch and will not retroactively change existing progression unless otherwise noted.

Albion Journal fixes:
  • Fixed issue where the ‘Loot Baby Animals’ missions could be completed by looting the item from a player’s corpse
  • Fixed issue where the same vanity item reward could be obtained from two missions (see updated mission rewards above)
  • Fixed issue where the mission ’Own 3 plots in the same city simultaneously’ rewarded a Snow Leopard Cape item instead of the untradeable Snow Leopard Cape unlock item
    • Unintended Snow Leopard Cape items that have already been claimed have been converted into the untradeable Snow Leopard Cape unlock item
  • Fixed issue where resource mobs in the Mists would not count towards skinning missions
  • Fixed issue where hide animals in the Mists and hide treasures were not counted as unique animal types
    • As a result of this fix, the amount of hide mobs required to complete the mission ‘Skin every type of Hide Animal’ has increased significantly. To offset this increase, two additional steps in the mission chain have been added:
      • ‘Skin 52 types of Hide Animal’
      • ‘Skin 65 types of Hide Animal’
      • Unfortunately, these missions have to be started from scratch as, for technical reasons, they are considered new missions
  • Fixed issue where the mission 'Use the Journey Back ability in a Black Zone' could be completed by returning from any zone
  • Fixed issue where missions to kill a certain number of mobs did not count mobs defeated by a party member
  • Fixed issue where ‘Gain Brecilien standing’ missions were not completed if maximum standing was reached prior to the Journal’s release
  • Fixed issue where Phalanx Beetle mounts did not count towards the 'Ride a Battle Mount' mission
  • Fixed issue where some crafting missions could be completed by other means
  • Fixed issue where percentages in category progress bars were rounded up, causing the UI to incorrectly indicate that a threshold had been met
    • Percentages now include one decimal number
  • Fixed some inaccurate mission descriptions

UI fixes:
  • Fixed issue where speech bubbles could obscure important UI elements. The display priority now functions correctly, in this order:
    • Player's own nametag
    • Selected nametags
    • Nametags with an icon
    • Spellcasting bars
    • Speech bubbles
    • Other nametags
  • Fixed issue where mount healthbars and spellcasting bars could display incorrectly when other spells were cast nearby
  • Fixed issue where the Journey Back ability could not be used after closing the notification pop-up with the ESC key
  • Fixed issue where opening the Destiny Board or World Map with the Journal Tracker UI open would cause the tracker to display as empty
  • [MOBILE] Fixed issue where mail notifications would appear during the tutorial despite the mail menu being inaccessible

Other fixes:
  • Fixed various mob spawning issues in Randomized Dungeons:
    • Fixed issue where boss encounters could spawn twice
    • Fixed issue where elite mobs could spawn in solo dungeons
    • Fixed issue where veteran mobs could spawn in groups in solo dungeons
    • Fixed issue where multiple groups of mobs could spawn at once
  • Fixed issue where cooldown reduction buffs could sometimes cause longer than intended cooldowns for the Crystal Reaper, Panther Shape, and Imp Shape
  • Fixed issue where Territory Activity Chest shield visual states would not change when standing next to them
  • Fixed issue where Victory Emotes would activate if a player used the ‘/die’ command when ‘also trigger on knockdown’ was enabled
  • Various additional graphical, animation, terrain, audio, UI, and localization fixes

‘Zero to Hero’: The Bird is the Word

This series follows writer Will Borger as he joins the AlbionTV crew on his very own Path to Glory. In this, the second installment, he finds his calling in an unfamiliar weapon. (Read part one here.)

By Will Borger

Everything clicked once I could start dropping nukes.

I wrapped my last Zero to Hero a couple of days ago, and I’m still thinking about the journey. But that’s not the subject of this write-up. You’ll hear from me one more time in a couple weeks, after the whole thing has marinated a bit. Right now, dear readers, I’d like to catch you up on what’s happened since you last heard from me in… May. Whoops. Time and tide, and all that.

Last time on Zero to Hero, we were at rock bottom. We were losing a lot, I didn’t know what I was doing, we were trying to find the right build… It was a lot. But as I said in May, I didn’t expect to stay at rock bottom forever.

Sometimes, the fix you need comes from somewhere you don’t expect. In this case, though, it was someone. I had no shortage of expert advice - I was playing with Lewpac, Bogul, Shozen, and Tazzik, after all - but the suggestion that changed my ever-lovin’ Albion life came from Meletriss, who, after one show was over, suggested I try out Lightcaller. I had no idea what a Lightcaller was, but I did know that Great Curse staff wasn’t working for me. As the old saying goes, I’ll try anything once.

When I play a game, one of two things tends to happen: I either find my character/class/weapon almost immediately and stick with it forever, or I fumble around for a while until something clicks. With Albion, there was a lot of fumbling. We started with a Longbow, moved to a regular Bow, tried out the Great Curse Staff, and, eventually, settled on the Lightcaller. But I never would have gotten there without Meletriss. We only spoke a few times during my run on AlbionTV, but she changed the trajectory of the show with one simple suggestion. Funny how that works out. Thanks, Mel.

Lightcaller wasn’t a plug-in and play, either. The early games were… rough. You wanna see someone do 10,000 damage on a Lightcaller? Watch my early games. I wasn’t managing my stacks well, using my auto-attacks to set up my Q, switching at the right times, landing my Ws, you name it. You want a primer on how not to play Lightcaller? Watch my first few games.

But it’s amazing what a couple of examples can do. One day, after he was tired of me doing less damage on Lightcaller than his cat did while walking across his keyboard, Lewpac had me watch him play a couple games with the Lightcaller. We went over positioning, using the auto-attacks to set up the Q, when to switch, using defensives, and so much more. And seeing it in action, I finally understood.

I’ve said it before: I’m a fighting game player, and playing that genre taught me how I improve: practice. I’m decent at games when I first pick them up, but if I actually want to improve, I have to put in the time, watch replays, see what the pros do, and so on. I have a lot of respect for people who can pick something up and immediately be good at it. But that’s never been me.

Bird had the thing all the other things I’d tried since the Bow had lacked: it was fun. So I knew what I needed to do. Stick with the bird.

And slowly but surely, the numbers started to go up. 15,000 damage. Then 20,000. And by the time my last show happened, 30,000, pretty reliably. That’s a story for the final piece, though.

Picking one build and sticking with it unlocked Albion’s arena for me. Once I knew and liked what I was doing each game, it became easier to form a stable gameplan, and once I had that, I had to think less about what I needed to be doing, and more about what the other team was doing, and how I could coordinate with my team to beat it.

I’ll stop there for now. I want to save some stuff for a couple weeks from now, and I want to spend a little more time in Albion before I give my final thoughts. But in my experience, every competitive game has the one thing that unlocks it for you, whether it’s a weapon, character, class, or something else entirely. For me, it was the Lightcaller Staff. And that’s when I finally understood Albion, and when everything started to click. All hail the pigeon.

Stay tuned for the final piece in this series, and watch Will’s journey unfold live on AlbionTV every Saturday at 19 UTC!

Guild Season 23 Wrapup

With the dust having settled on another intense Guild Season, it’s time to take a look at the fierce battles that took place and the ever-shifting landscape of Albion’s alliances. With the first full season on Albion Europe, and old rivalries reigniting elsewhere, the struggle for power has never been more thrilling. Read on to find out how Sex and Flex, PLAC, and IFures, secured their victories:

Albion Europe: Sex and Flex wins the server’s inaugural season

A brand new server means new guilds, alliances, and coalitions going to war to control the Outlands and make their mark on the world of Albion.

In the beginning, we saw battles raging with fighters in modest T4 gear, riding their Mules into battle like true warriors. But it didn't take long for the players to get stronger and the gear bumped up to T8 – then those poor Mules were no more.

Soon, the first coalition war broke out on the European server. Sex and Flex, in an attempt to push for the first season victory, formed a massive coalition to support their efforts. The winners of the Albion Europe Beta Season, Escalation, led the fightback, with their eyes also on the title. Massive battles took place day after day across multiple time slots. Escalation really had their work cut out for them, as the Sex and Flex coalition was also extremely large. They were not alone, however, as Woof Woof was there to support them, and PLAC was also summoned from the Asia server to lend a hand.

But it wasn't to be. With internal drama, and Del having no time to lead, Escalation was unable to sustain the charge, and within a month or so of the Albion Europe launch, they effectively folded. This allowed Sex and Flex to push on unchallenged and take the server’s first ever season title.

Smurfing Monkeys has opened the season with a strong showing, but couldn't hold off the forces of Vodafone, with BOBER also wreaking havoc on them in the final month. All of this damage caused the guild to close its doors after one last run at second place.

APE was able to place third, resulting in all three members of the same coalition taking the top three spots.

Top 10 Guilds:
  1. Sex and Flex (970,117 points)
  2. Smurfing Monkeys (734,820 points)
  3. APE (536,057 points)

  5. POLSKA GUROM (463,401 points)

  8. Vodafone (395,372 points)
  9. CONTROL (388,435 points)
  10. Escalation (382,503 points)

Albion Asia: PLAC remains uncontested

Season 23 started out the same as Season 22, with PLAC claiming that they were going to push for the season title. And with a strong coalition still in place, there wasn't much standing in their way.

However, a handful of guilds tried to stop them. Radiant and their coalition attempted to fight back, but after a few short weeks, with well over a thousand players involved at once, it was too much for them to handle. Henrie, the guild master of Radiant, called it a day to refocus their efforts on the European server.

Weeks passed, and PLAC managed to hold onto the #1 spot for the entire season, taking home their third Crystal Gem with astounding back-to-back season victories, making them only the second guild in Albion’s history to do so.

In spite of that, shot caller Fuckcall parted ways with PLAC at the end of the season and announced that they will attempt to lead Peony Flower to victory in Season 24. But it won't be plain sailing, as the Arthur's Rest coalition has formed and is already pushing back against PLAC's major holdings in territory ownership and Hideout placement. Season 24 is already shaping up to be a very interesting one for Albion Asia!

Top 10 Guilds:
  1. PLAC (865,973 points)
  2. Kestrel (795,387 points)

  10. Arirang (297,031 points)

Albion Americas: IFures secures a second crown

Season 23's Outland wars picked up where Season 22 left off, with little change to the overall landscape. The IFures coalition held strong, but the BOBER alliance wasn't going down without a fight, and battles raged throughout the season as IFures sought their second season victory.

The Lonely Men looked extremely healthy throughout, and held onto second place with the help of FAX. But one thing was missing: the POE alliance withdrew after some drama unfolded, and a once mighty force in the Outlands slowly faded from the war. At the end of the season, the oldest Hideout in Albion was destroyed for the first time. Owned by the leader of the POE Alliance, Crimson Imperium Reborn, its fall marks the end of a legacy seen only once in the world of Albion Online…

Coming back to the race for the crown, it looked like it would be an easy second place for The Lonely Men, but with the final Invasion Day of the season and all territories' payouts happening, a plan was hatched by the IFures coalition to have PIVAS, one of their members, take second place.

And so, on the final day, battles took place. But it wasn't just about fighting, and Silver payments were made to guilds all over the Outlands so that PIVAS could get their territories for their stored Season Points. With this plan in place, PIVAS was able to grab a total of 60 territories and, gaining over 200,000 Season Points, leapfrog over The Lonely Men to take second place.

Top 10 Guilds:
  1. IFures (907,399 points)
  2. PIVAS (900,298 points)
  3. The Lonely Men (799,138 points)
  4. I Guess What I (500,362 points)
  5. Outlimits (453,720 points)
  6. Pressur3 (420,880 points)
  7. Fax (412,510 points)

  9. D R U Y D S (310,002 points)
  10. I M O R T A I S (305,877 points)

Season 23 will be remembered for its intense battles and guild-breaking drama across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. With Season 24 underway, new challenges and alliances are forming, setting the stage for another thrilling chapter in Albion’s history. Adventurers are invited to check the full season schedule on our forum post and prepare for the exciting battles ahead!

Paths to Glory is Here!

It’s time to walk the Paths to Glory! Albion’s latest content update has arrived, bringing the Albion Journal - a new achievement system offering unique rewards - new Crystal Weapons, Dynamic Spawn Rates, and a wealth of improvements across the game. And, as always, we’ve produced a brand-new trailer for the occasion. Check it out here:

Write your Journal

This update introduces the Albion Journal, a brand-new achievement system with missions for every type of player, from the very beginners to the most seasoned veterans, covering the full breadth of Albion’s content. Each mission has its own prize - like bags of Silver and new Tomes of Learning - while your progress through each category grants you unique, themed rewards. So whether you’re an extravagant merchant tossing around your wealth, or a rugged gatherer with a barbeque-bearing boar, you’ll be able to demonstrate your expertise to all around you.

For more on the Albion Journal and its rewards, check out this Dev Talk.

A Dynamic World

An important new feature is coming to the open world and the Roads of Avalon: Dynamic Spawn Rates. This adjusts the amount of treasure, resources, and mobs which appear at a given time based on each server’s activity levels, with more available during peak hours. The Roads have received some adjustments too, with rebalanced zones and content, and the introduction of Tracking. And speaking of which, there’s a sinister new Rare Quarry out there to hunt down: the Shadowmask.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Weapons now have all of their spells unlocked from Tier 4, bringing greater diversity to combat and giving you more to play with early on. Items can be overcharged twice, too, allowing fierce, large-scale battles to rage for longer. New Crystal Weapons are coming for Daggers, Maces, and Holy Staffs. Guilds can now own multiple islands, with beautiful new visuals that reflect the atmosphere and biome of their host city. Countless other quality-of-life changes are being introduced as well, including improvements to the Destiny Board and a new Party Ready Check system.

Paths to Glory is live now, so open up your Journal and start writing your story! Read the full patchnotes here, and check out the official update page here.

Changelog: Paths to Glory Update

Paths to Glory Update - Version 26.000.1 - July 22, 2024

The Albion Journal

Overview
  • The Albion Journal is a personal logbook that will help you keep track of your adventures and to build up the chronicle of your journey through the lands of Albion
  • This is a new achievement tracking feature designed to provide clear guidance and exciting goals for all players, whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just starting out
  • The journal offers a mixture of missions that can be completed in a single play session, as well as longer-term goals that unlock valuable rewards and unique vanity items
  • The Journal provides an overview of the game’s core activities and features, guiding players through Albion’s sandbox structure immediately after the tutorial

We want every play session to have an achievable goal. Whether you're completing a quick task or taking on a more significant challenge, progress should always be within reach. With the introduction of the Albion Journal, we want to provide everyone with a quantifiable way to measure their progress while exploring all the different features Albion Online has to offer.
With this update, the Journal has five main categories, and we plan to expand this with four further categories in the future.

HUD changes
  • The Albion Journal has its own section, the Journal Tracker, on the player HUD — just below the Destiny Board button
  • The Journal Tracker displays up to three missions for you to follow your progress.
    • You can choose which missions to follow here, or let it show recommended missions
  • The Journal Tracker is a collapsable menu, which notifies you when you have rewards available

Your Journal
  • The Albion Journal starts with one revealed mission and gradually reveals more as you progress
  • Missions can be completed even if they are not yet revealed in the Journal
  • Missions are organized into categories and subcategories, with goals and rewards unlocking as you progress
  • Main Categories included in the Paths to Glory update:
    • PvE
    • Gathering
    • Economy
    • Exploration
    • PvP
  • Some brand-new items are available as rewards as you progress through the Journal (see ‘Albion Journal Rewards’ below)
  • Many existing Steam Achievements are now part of Journal Missions
    • If these were completed prior to the launch of the Journal, their rewards will be ready to claim
    • Steam Achievements will remain in the Achievements section separately

Albion Journal Rewards

Mission Rewards
  • Each completed mission grants a reward
    • These rewards can be claimed in the Albion Journal UI
    • Rewards for individual missions include Tomes of Insight, Silver, Focus Restoration Potions, Gathering Tomes, and many more!
    • A new reward item is available, Tome of Learning, which grants Learning Points when used

Category Rewards
  • As you progress through each of the main categories, you will unlock unique new vanity rewards at various stages
    • 20% completion: A unique Avatar
    • 40% completion: A matching Avatar Ring
    • 60% completion: A wardrobe item with a vanity spell
    • 80% completion: A brand-new mount skin
    • 100% completion: A very rare, elite version of the wardrobe item and spell
  • These vanity rewards follow the theme of each category
  • All Category Rewards are non-tradable

Dynamic Spawn Rates

In order to provide more content during each server’s peak times, this update introduces a new feature to the open world and the Roads of Avalon: Dynamic Spawn Rates.
  • Snapshots of each server’s activity levels will be taken ongoingly
  • Some spawn and upgrade rates will be automatically adjusted based on this activity
    • Spawn rates will dynamically increase during busy times and decrease during off-peak periods
    • There are limits in place to ensure that low-activity periods don’t offer too little, and busy periods don’t offer too much
As a result, it should be easier to find content during the busiest times on each server. With this update, this feature will affect treasures, resources, and mobs, with the amount available more in line with each server's activity. The impact will be measured and adjusted as necessary and it may be expanded to other content in the future.

Roads of Avalon Improvements

We've listened to your feedback and, as promised, we're working on the most popular change requested by the community. With these changes, we’re not looking to completely reshape the Roads of Avalon, but rather to rebalance their regions and rewards while adding new content in the form of Tracking. We will continue to monitor gameplay in the Roads after this update, to see what further changes and improvements can be made.

Region Balancing
  • The tier of Roads region you enter is now based on the zone type from which you enter
    • Tier 4 Roads: Primarily found when entering from Blue and Yellow zones
    • Tier 6 Roads: Typically found when entering from Red and Black zones
    • Tier 8 Roads: Exclusive to Deep Roads and 20-Player Portals
  • The number of 20-Player Portal Regions has been increased to provide more frequent connections to Roads Hideout Regions
    • Some connections to 20-Player Portal Regions from non-Hideout Regions have been added too, to increase competition
  • Group Portals within the Roads now have a 300 second recharge time

Content and Reward Balancing

We wanted to better balance Roads content and rewards with other activities in Albion. There will be fewer Roads regions for gathering, but those that do exist will have higher respawn rates to compensate. Additionally, the Roads will not be quite as powerful for leveling as in the past, but will instead be more attractive for loot.
On average, Fame has been reduced by around 20-25%, while the total Silver output from the Roads (taking into account increased spawn rates) has been approximately doubled.

  • Tracking is now possible in the Roads
  • Group rewards have been significantly increased to encourage cooperative play, while solo rewards have been reviewed to ensure fairness compared to other content
    • Avalonian Chests have had their value increased
      • Tier 4 and Tier 6 chests have received a slight buff, and Tier 8 chests a significant buff
    • They now also upgrade in size over time if left untouched
    • Small Avalonian Chests can never be rare or legendary, while Large Avalonian Chests can never be common
  • The number of areas dedicated to gathering has been reduced
    • Their respawn rate has been increased to maintain total resource output in the Roads
    • The free spots will be used to introduce additional PvE areas and Solo Randomized Dungeon entrances
  • Randomized Dungeons with fixed entrances have had their bonus loot reduced
    • To compensate, they are always Enchanted now
  • Randomized Dungeon entrances, Mobs, Chests, and Resources have been moved to offer greater diversity of content and remove ultra-specialized regions with only one resource type

Mob Adjustments
  • Mob tiers are now standardized in each different Roads region

Quality of Life Improvements

With this update, we wanted to provide several much-requested quality of life enhancements by improving a number of important weapon functions and UI elements, along with some other frequently-requested changes and additions.

Weapon Improvements
Based on your feedback, two important changes have been made to weapon functionality:
  • Weapons now have all of their spells unlocked from Tier 4 upwards, to increase gameplay variety
  • Items can now be overcharged twice in combat, increasing overcharge duration at a  greater risk of breaking the item
    • This will allow for prolonged ZvZ battles beyond the 30-minute mark

Party Ready Check
A new system allows party leaders to check on the readiness of their group members, to help in activities which require coordination.
  • A party leader can initiate a Ready Check in two ways:
    • From their character drop-down menu
    • By typing /readycheck in the chat
  • All party members, regardless of location, receive a notification asking if they are ready or not
  • Responses are displayed to all party members
    • Green check-mark: Ready
    • Red cross: Not ready
    • White question mark: Pending/AFK
  • If a member does not respond in 60 seconds, they are marked as Pending/AFK
  • Responses remain on-screen for 30 seconds after the end of the Ready Check
    • If a new Ready Check is initiated in this time, the original responses are overwritten

UI Improvements
  • The Destiny Board has improved scaling and zooming
  • All players in a Randomized Dungeon now receive a message when the entrance closes
    • No more counting to 90 and guessing if an entrance is gone!
  • The Daily Bonus Tracker in the HUD can now be collapsed
  • Last Death Recap can now be accessed from the Player Menu at any time during the same play session
  • Siege UI:
    • The Siege UI is now accessible at any time when using the Siege Banner item
    • Improved information display that better reflects the requirements necessary for Siege Banner use
  • Added a market value estimation of equipment when inspecting a player
    • The estimated value includes equipped items only, not items in inventory
    • Displayed value is a rounded number; hovering over estimated value shows the exact amount
  • Player Rankings UI:
    • Added options to filter rankings by “Guild Members only” and “Friends List only”
    • When a player ranks outside the top 10,000, their position along with the two players immediately above and below them are displayed
  • Party and guild management:
    • Player markers are now displayed in front of other elements (such as health bars) and are easier to distinguish from the background, improving the visibility of marked players in large battles
    • Player pings now appear as system messages in chat
    • Added button to Guild UI to copy Guild Member list to the clipboard
  • Territory Activity Chest world map overlays added, showing:
    • Average Activity Chest Value
    • Next Activity Chest Value
  • Trade UI now displays projected character weight after a prospective trade
  • Added confirmation popup message when using Journey Back to better inform about Silver costs
  • Added an opacity setting for the chat box in focused mode
  • Improved search function by allowing variation in words instead of requiring an exact match
  • Improved target dummy DPS view to be more consistent and closer to actual damage timing

Additional Changes and Improvements

  • In order to create some economic space and bring greater parity to Albion’s various features, various slight adjustments have been made to the Mists and Knightfall Abbey:
    • Boss and Shrine chest values in Knightfall Abbey reduced by approximately 10%
      • Duo Mists’ chests have had their bonus values adjusted to offset this change, and are unaffected
    • Resolved an issue where some mobs in Knightfall Abbey gave too little Silver
      • This has resulted in a ~9% overall increase in Silver from mobs
    • Already small loot chances from mobs removed to offset increased Silver and protect chests from further reductions
    • Arcane Spiderling spawn chances in the Mists reduced by 18%
  • Veteran and Elite mobs now regenerate health in combat, making them less profitable when engaged by fewer players
    • Their overall health has been reduced to maintain the time needed for a group to kill them
  • Mobs with very long respawn times (e.g. Ancient Resource Mobs) will spawn at more unpredictable intervals
  • Reworked animations and VFX for Quarterstaffs and Scythes
  • The following spells have also been visually redesigned:
    • Threatening Smash (all Maces)
    • Slowing Charge (two-handed Hammers)
    • Rending Strike (two-handed Axes)
  • A-key can now be used to exit islands

Combat Balance Changes

Our main focus with this update was to adjust the resilience curve, which addresses the survivability of melee and ranged weapons in large scale battles. The goal is to make these fights less focused on melee brawl compositions, and give ranged damage-per-second more room to succeed.

Resilience
The impact of Resilience on large-scale fights has been reduced significantly, making melees less tanky with higher numbers of attackers. This means that all players (including ranged players) deal greater damage to melees. To compensate for this, the resilience penetration for various long range melee weapons has been reduced. This is aimed at large-scale fights - for up to five attackers melee Resilience values are unchanged.

The Resilience curve has also been normalized for ranged weapons, to use the same Resilience values as melees and make both these weapon types more competitive in all group sizes.
  • Melee weapon Resilience remains unchanged for groups of five or fewer, and ramps up more slowly from six attackers
    • For example, melee survivability has decreased by 10.58% against ten players, and by 19.16% against fifteen players
  • Ranged weapons now uses the same resilience values as melee, which means that the ranged survivability increases more quickly
    • For example, Ranged survivability has increased by 9.72% against three players, by 17.99% against ten players, and by 6.47% against fifteen players

Albion Online Turns Seven!

And just like that, Albion turned seven! With so much going on - a new server, soaring player numbers, and several big updates - the past year has just flown by. And on the eve of the Paths to Glory update, it’s time to take a moment to look back at just how far the game has come. So put on your Anniversary outfit, grab a slice of cake, and make yourself comfortable as we look back at some of the biggest moments of the last twelve months.

Wild Blood

Albion’s players got a taste of Wild Blood in the fall, as a new content update introduced some massive features to the game.

With Shapeshifter Weapons, Tracking, Awakened Items, reworked islands, and much more, Wild Blood unleashed Albion’s primal side, and opened up a whole world of new possibilities.

End of Year Awards

Winter saw end-of-year awards handed out, and Albion Online added to its growing collection with two more prestigious prizes. MassivelyOP awarded Albion Best PvP MMO for the third year running, and MMORPG.com then named the game Indie MMO of the Year. Thanks again to everyone whose continued support has made this possible!

The end of the year also saw the announcement of a new approach to the game’s update schedule, which would begin at the turn of 2024…

Crystal Raiders

No sooner had Uncle Frost thrown his last snowball of the season, than it was time for Albion’s first update of 2024. Crystal Raiders was the first in Albion’s three-monthly update cycle, and it brought some big changes to Guild Seasons.

With the introduction of Territory Raiding and Crystal Weapons, along with other changes like a reworked Conqueror’s Challenge, Crystal Raiders shook up guild warfare in Albion for the seasons to come.

Albion Europe

A year after the successful launch of the Albion Asia server came another momentous announcement: Albion Online was launching a brand-new server in Europe. This would bring massively improved ping to thousands of players, old and new, along with the chance to build a completely independent gameworld from the ground up.

To celebrate this development, an all-new live action trailer was released, which might have a familiar ring to some of you…

Albion Europe had a unique Beta phase, with players flocking to the new server to earn the exclusive Duelist vanity set. A special, condensed Guild Season was won by Escalation, and then, on April 29, the new server opened its doors.

Foundations

While all this was going on, development of the game didn’t slow down. Along with the new server, April saw the release of Albion’s second update of 2024: Foundations.

Foundations continued to add new dimensions to Guild Seasons, with the introduction of Fortifications, Siege Banners, Territory Activity Chests, and more. With guilds now able to construct powerful defenses for their territories, Season 23 marked the beginning of a new era of warfare in Albion.

Record Player Numbers

2024’s updates and the launch of Albion Europe made Albion more vibrant than ever before, and this was confirmed when the game smashed its player number record in May.

Albion Online surpassed 350,000 daily active users on May 1, eclipsing the previous record set a year ago with the launch of Albion Asia. With so many new and experienced players enjoying the game, it’s a truly exciting time to be a part of the world of Albion as we look ahead to the future.

Paths to Glory

And that future begins next week, with the release of the Paths to Glory update on July 22.

This will bring the Albion Journal, a brand-new achievement system with some very special rewards available. It also sees some big quality-of-life improvements, a new Dynamic Spawn Rate system, new Crystal Weapons, and much more. With all this, Albion has never offered so much to so many players.

Join us in celebrating Albion’s anniversary now with the Living Legacy event, featuring some all-new statues of Albion’s previous season winners to take down. And the special Anniversary Paladin vanity bundle is available until July 30 at 10 UTC, so grab yours while you can! Meanwhile, we’d like to once again give our thanks to you, the community, for what’s been an incredible year. Here’s to the future!
