The Crystal League Championship is Coming

The next Crystal League Championship is coming June 10-11, with separate tournaments on Albion East and West. Teams can win valuable prizes like the Sabertooth Rex Swiftclaw Skin and huge amounts of Gold!

This is the first time that there will be two championships over the weekend, with each server’s tournament taking place on a single day: June 10 for Albion East, and June 11 for Albion West. Both tournaments will have a single-elimination format and, in addition, there’s a new, points-based qualification system this time:
  • Teams of five players (with at least four consistent members) gain points by winning Crystal League matches
  • The teams with the most points at the end of the season qualify for the tournament
  • Winning matches at higher levels grants more points (eg. level 5 gives 5 points, while level 9 gives 80 points)
  • Points gained in Lethal and Non-Lethal matches are counted separately, with four teams from each format qualifying
(Note: players can only qualify for the CLC through one format, and on one server.)

Watch the Action Live on AlbionTV

As always, you can watch the action all weekend long on AlbionTV, the official Albion Online Twitch Channel. Join hosts Shozen, Lewpac, and Tazzik as they bring you live coverage and commentary on these high-octane fights. The reigning champions will be crowned and receive their prizes at a ceremony after the final match on each day.

Basic Builds: Arcane Staff

Welcome to another of our Basic Builds guides for beginner-to-intermediate players.

Characteristics

This build showcases the Arcane Staff, a mage weapon notable for its chain attacks, consistent damage, and mobility.

Here’s the full breakdown!

Equipment and Skills Used

Adept’s Arcane Staff
  • Chain Missile
    • A projectile that hits an enemy then jumps to a maximum of two additional targets. Deals most damage to the first target. All enemies hit receive an Arcane Charge, which can be triggered by other active abilities or auto-attacks for additional damage.
  • Enigma Blade
    • An area attack that deals damage in a cone in front of you. If you hit at least one enemy, you unlock an optional second part that allows you to teleport a short distance.
  • Arcane Orb
    • You throw an Arcane Orb that explodes on the first target hit, dealing damage in a large radius while purging all enemy buffs and silencing targets for a short time.
Adept’s Scholar Cowl
  • Energy Shield
    • Your Cowl has a defensive spell that decreases your damage taken while recovering energy for every hit taken.
Adept’s Cleric Robe
  • Everlasting Spirit
    • The robe's active ability offers a shield upon taking damage that makes you invulnerable and increases your damage by 20% for 3 seconds
Adept’s Soldier Boots
  • Rejuvenating Sprint
    • Your shoes’ active ability is a sprint that also heals you slightly
Adept’s Torch: Passively increases attack speed and reduces cooldowns

Adept’s Bag: Increases carry weight capacity

Adept’s Cape: Increases Energy and passive Energy Regeneration

Minor Poison Potion: Inflicts damage-over-time effect on targets and decreases their resistances for its duration

Catfish: Buff food that greatly increases Health Regeneration outside of combat, getting you back to full health quickly after clearing mobs

Journeyman’s Riding Horse: Brings you swiftly across the map while adding more carrying capacity

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Good clear speed
  • Mobility and interrupts
  • Suited to large scale fights (though would require different armor pieces)
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Low-defense build
  • Issues when fighting multiple enemies

Playstyle

  • Your Q-spell deals considerable damage to the first target it hits, while chaining onto two additional targets for a lower amount of damage. Each enemy hit receives an Arcane Charge.
  • Arcane Charges can be consumed by using an auto-attack or a direct damage ability like Enigma Blade or Arcane Orb.
  • Your W-ability strikes all enemies in a cone in front of you, dealing a good amount of damage and consuming any Arcane Charges for extra damage. Hitting at least one enemy also unlocks the combo ability Flicker, letting you teleport a short distance while becoming briefly invulnerable, but increasing this spell’s cooldown.
  • Your E-ability throws an orb in a targeted direction, colliding with the first target it hits and dealing damage around it. Purging all buffs from the target while silencing it for a short time, it’s a quick and effective interrupt. Also consumes Arcane Charges for additional damage.
  • The passive, Lingering Power, is a great tool for maximizing your damage, especially when fighting a single target. Whenever you cast a spell, it increases your attack speed and attack range for the next three basic attacks. Since you’re using a Q-spell with a very low cooldown, you can use this passive to take down tough enemies rapidly.
  • When you’re low on Energy or need extra Energy, use your Cowl ability. For every hit taken you replenish some Energy while generally decreasing the damage you take.
  • The Robe's strong defensive skill can be used to avoid damage. As long as you take damage in the 1.5 second window after activation, you receive an invulnerability shield making you immune to damage while increasing your damage output by 20% for 3 seconds.
  • Your boots offer a sprint ability that can regain a small amount of health quickly, while providing increased movement speed.
  • An enemy encounter should look something like this:
    • Cast your Q to deal damage and apply Arcane Charges.
    • Use your W to consume Arcane Charges.
    • Cast your Q again to reapply Arcane Charges.
    • Use your E-ability to consume these Charges.
    • Recast your Q and consume Arcane Charges via auto-attacks, until your W and E come off cooldown again.
    • When facing a single enemy, rotate between Q-spell and auto-attacks for max damage, using the W and E situationally or when additional damage is needed.

The Knightfall Abbey Theme is Available to Stream Now

One of the standout features of the recent Knightfall patch was an all-new dungeon in the Mists - Knightfall Abbey. Along with beautiful visuals and new gameplay, it also features a stunning new theme song which is now available on all major streaming platforms.

The track was composed by Albion’s longtime Senior Audio Designer Marie Havemann, who described the ideas behind it:

“The Undead roaming Knightfall Abbey were once humans who lived there, cursed by Merlin's ritual to remain forever trapped, unable to uphold the knightly virtues they once held dear. With the music, we wanted to capture both this tragedy and the feeling of longing that comes with striving for a virtuous life. At the same time, it was important for us to convey a sense of unity among the people who believed in those virtues as well as their flawed nature. To reflect this unified yearning through sound, we combined choir with orchestral instruments and focused on strong melodies. The music alternates between moments of hope and despair, as the Undead could never complete their journey and are trapped in time in Knightfall Abbey, covered in thick layers of dust. The transitions between exploration and combat are fluid, with the musical identity of the place always palpable.”

  • Good sustain through from food and other equipment
  • Viable build for 1v1 and dueling
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Most situational W-abilities unlock at higher levels
  • Not suited to large-scale fights

Playstyle

  • Your Q-ability hits enemies in a line in front of you, dealing direct damage and applying a Spirit Spear charge (up to a total of three). It has a very short cooldown, so can be used multiple times during a fight.
  • Spirit Spear charges increase your auto-attack damage, which also heal you a decent amount if using the “Life Leech” passive.
  • The W-ability repeatedly deals damage in front of you while being channeled. It has up to 8 damage instances, making it very strong in combination with the Mercenary Jacket’s “Bloodlust” ability.
  • Your main ability is a long-range dash that throws all enemies it passes through into the air while dealing damage based on the amount of active Spirit Spear charges. Using the ability consumes these charges. This ability is very useful to interrupt enemy spells, reposition yourself, or escape a fight.
  • The cowl has an additional damage spell that lets you take down groups of enemies quicker.
  • The jacket can be used to regain health. It’s best used in combination with your W-ability but can also be triggered quickly when fighting a group of enemies with your Q-ability.
  • Your boots have a sprint ability that regains a small portion of health quickly while also providing increased speed.
  • An enemy encounter should look something like this:
    • Use your Q to start the fight and gain Spirit Spear charges.
    • Use auto-attacks on the main target(s).
    • Use your E to cancel or dodge an enemy spell.
    • Use your W if you’re in a safe spot or in combination with your jacket to quickly heal up.

Basic Builds: Battle Bracers

Welcome to another of our Basic Builds guides for beginner-to-intermediate players. Each guide presents a suggested build and describes how its abilities work in tandem. You can try these out as-is, or use them as a starting point to create new builds of your own.

Characteristics

This build showcases the Battle Bracers, a warrior weapon with high mobility, damage and short crowd control abilities.

Here’s the full breakdown!

Equipment and Skills Used

Adept’s Battle Bracers
  • Dragon Leap
    • A short-range combo that allows you to dash and deal damage in a small radius. Can be activated a second time to briefly throw enemies into the air.
  • Triple Kick
    • A slow dash through enemies, dealing damage up to three times.
  • Falcon Smash
    • You levitate, becoming immune to crowd control. With the second cast you dive to a targeted area, dealing damage in a 6m radius.
Adept’s Mage Cowl
  • Firebreath
    • Your Cowl has an offensive spell that briefly ignites enemies in a small cone in front of you
Adept’s Mercenary Jacket
  • Bloodlust
    • This jacket's active ability allows you to regain some health every time you auto-attack or cast a damage spell
Adept’s Soldier Boots
  • Rejuvenating Sprint
    • Your shoes’ active ability is a sprint that also heals you slightly
Adept’s Bag: Increases carry weight capacity

Adept’s Cape: Increases Energy and passive Energy Regeneration

Minor Poison Potion: Inflicts damage-over-time effect on targets and decreases their resistances for its duration

Beef Stew: Increases your damage

Journeyman’s Riding Horse: Brings you swiftly across the map while adding more carrying capacity

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Lots of mobility, allowing you to dodge spells or escape a fight
  • Many small-scale crowd control abilities
  • Viable build for 1v1 and dueling
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Average clear speed
  • Requires practice
  • Not suited to large scale fights

Playstyle

  • Your Q-ability is a two-part combo where you dash in a targeted direction, dealing damage. Using the ability again will perform another dash, knocking enemies into the air while putting the spell on a 7-second cooldown, while not doing so will let you reuse the first part after 2 seconds. To maximize damage output, only use the first part; the second part is better for interrupting or finishing off a target.
  • The W-ability is another dash that has three damage instances. It lets you pass through a group of targets and deal damage nearby. so you can deal the full amount of damage to your targets. If you hit a player, they will be dragged with you. To maximize damage, aim near your current location, dealing damage in a concentrated area. Aiming further away will let you travel further but spread the damage.
  • Your main ability is a two-part combo. First, you levitate, becoming immune to crowd control. Then you can recast to dive towards a targeted area, dealing damage across a wide area. This is a good opener, as you can hit a group of enemies while they’re idle.
  • Your auto-attacks can further boost your damage. The first passive “Fatal Fury” increases your damage for every auto-attack. Since gloves have a high attack speed you can fit a few attacks between your abilities to elevate your damage output.
  • The cowl has an additional damage spell to quickly take down groups.
  • The jacket can regain health. It’s best used in combination with your weapon abilities if they can hit multiple targets, or when auto-attacking an enemy for a few seconds.
  • Your boots have a sprint ability that can regain a small amount of health quickly while providing increased speed.
  • An encounter should look something like this:
    • Use your E to levitate, then recast to dive towards the target(s).
    • Use the first part of your Q to deal damage.
    • Use your W to apply additional damage.
    • Alternate between using your first Q and auto attacks.
    • Use your jacket when below 60% health, ideally in combination with area spells against groups or auto attacks against single enemies.
  • If energy becomes an issue, try switching to Cloth Sandals for Energetic Sprint.
