Version 0.8.2 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

While our lore update isn't ready yet, we've been working on other features that should bring more life into the game. Since we're happy with the state the game is balanced right now we began working on ways to make it more challenging for those who've already completed this early access version or to go easier on those who are struggling with the mechanics or who may be new to the genre. Let us know what you thought of these new modes, and if you can beat the harder mode you can totally brag about it!

Here's the list of changes for this update:

  • New difficulties added! - Apprentice and Savant modes are open by default, and if you prove that you're ready Master mode will be waiting for you!
  • Added a animation for the recipe book - since it's the most important part of the user interface we thought it needed more love
  • Added a new artifact: Ring of the Frozen Soul - which comes with a new gamechanging status, Invulnerable
  • Added a new seasonal theme for the holidays

As you may have noticed, the world of Alchemia is celebrating its first end of year holidays, so we hope you enjoy the game and happy holidays to all!

Version 0.8.1 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

We hope you've enjoyed our Halloween event! Now that we've got the hold of it, expect more seasonal events in the future, and with them we'll try to always introduce new appropriately themed permanent content to the game too. We're back to the regular update schedule now, and with this latest release we mainly fixed a few bugs that have been bothering some of you.

These are some of the most important changes:

  • Added some missing translations and fixed typos
  • Enabled clicking to skip the empiric points animation on the gameover screen
  • Nerfed the Hand of Veknor artifact - our first seasonal event inspired artifact, it was a bit LOT overtuned, so we've reduced it's stats while increasing the hp lost when picking it up
  • Fixed intent values not appearing during battles
  • Fixed Preserved Beetle reagents getting destroyed on use
  • Fixed a bug that could cause reagents to become invisible


This month we'll focus on bringing a lore filled update, so stay tuned if you're interested in knowing more about the world of Alchemia!

Version 0.8.0 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

This big update brings the seasonal Halloween event changes, which will be happening between 25th of October and 2nd of November. We're planning to add a few more things during the event, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates in the near future!

Summary of most important changes:

  • Halloween Event! Several aestethics that will remain temporarily in-game and some permanent additions too!

    • New Artifact
    • New Event
    • New Recipes

  • Complete overhaul on "draw" build

    • Normal draw recipes won't reshuffle your discard bag
    • New recipes (and keywords) that have benefical effects to this strategy

Halloween Event on Alchemia!

The leaves are ruffling. Pumpkins are carved. A colony of bats gathers in the distance.

It's Halloween time.



During the period of 25th of October to 2nd of November, a special event will be taking place in the once magical, now terrifying land of Alchemia. Bring out your torches, you'll be needing them.

Alongside new soundtracks and visuals to all magical creatures and locations in the game, there is a bunch of new content arriving too, includlng:

  • A new artifact, the Hand of Veknor
  • A new event, the Castle of Veknor
  • A new terryifing elite, the Undead Morhk
  • Several new terrifying recipes to learn
  • And much more to discover!


And if you haven't got your hands on Alchemia yet, now is the perfect time! Thanks to our lovely community, in the past few weeks we have been hard at work developing new features, a ton of balance changes, bug fixing, and improving the game all around. To top all that, Alchemia will be getting a nice discount during the event!

Version 0.7.7 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

As some of you may unfortunately know, we're still experiencing some issues with save files being lost. We made yet a few more changes that might solve this problem but, since our main goal is to not have anyone lose their progress, this time we implemented a backup system while we still investigate the cause of the problem.

If you're playing on version 0.7.7 or higher and face this issue, please follow these steps:

  • 1. Copy one of the most recent ..._profile.save files (every one has a timestamp on their name) from one the following folders, based on your operating system:

    • Windows: [your username here]\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Alchemia- Creatio Ex Nihilo\archived_files (AppData is a hidden folder, but in most systems Windows Explorer shows hidden folders by default)
    • OSX: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Alchemia- Creatio Ex Nihilo/archived_files
    • Linux: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Alchemia- Creatio Ex Nihilo/archived_files


  • 2. Rename the file to profile.save and paste it on the 'Alchemia- Creatio Ex Nihilo' folder, replacing any file with the same name there.

  • 3. Restart the game and it should load this previous profile!

We also have a few minor improvements to the game:

  • Tweaked some music and sound effect volumes.
  • Balanced cost of removing reagents from the shop throughout the run.
  • Added a Discord button in the main menu - we find it easier to interact with our players there, that's why we're hoping to get more people to join and build an even better community!

Version 0.7.6 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

This update's round of changes focus mostly on our biggest issue so far: loss of save files. We get really upset whenever this happens to someone and we're grateful for everyone that reached out and helped with testing and logs to assist us. We also have some quality of life and art updates, you can see the most important changes below:

  • New backgrounds for first and second regions.
  • Ability to zoom in on recipe grids on the recipe book.
  • Updated images for reagents - some of them were too similar and were difficult to recognize at a glance in places they appear small, they're a bit different now and have a thicker border.
  • Better safety when saving - we think we may have solved all of the bugs that happen during saving that lead to loss of save data, including some safety measures when saving files.

Hello alchemists!

Here are the changes for this version:

  • Balanced several recipes, encounters and artifacts - We're always listening players' feedback to help us reach a good balancing point, so we want to thank everyone who shared their opinions!
  • Added a skip button during tutorial.
  • Improved visual effects for burning reagents.
  • Optimized recipe autofill - It now prioritizes utilizing lower tier reagents to not accidentally use more valuable reagents.
  • Added particles to acessible map locations.

Version 0.7.4 - Update notes

Hello alchemists!

As always we're prioritizing bugfixes and balancing on our way to the game's full release, and on this latest update we're bringing the following changes:

  • Balanced the Plantora and Morhk Savage encounters.
  • Fixed a bug where the game could freeze after attempting to discover a recipe with 7 or more reagents.
  • Improved handling save files - This is a critical issue. We don't want anyone losing progress over this, so if it happens to you please warn us.
  • Fixed a few tooltips appearing when they shouldn't - We think we've got them all this time, but if any are still appearing let us know.
  • Fixed damage dealt by burning reagents.
  • Improvements on the Knowledge Administration screen - Some players didn't immediately recognize the sliders and were stuck on this screen without knowing how to proceed, hopefully the slider's new visuals will resolve this.


Those are the most important changes for now, but as always any problem with the game you can reach us here or on our Discord server!

FIXED: Game crashing on Mac/OSX

Some players on the Mac/OSX version reported the game was crashing on startup after the latest update (0.7.3). This was fixed and shouldn't happen again, but please feel free to report any other issue here or on our Discord server.
