Update 1.1.5 is Live!

Hey Everyone,

New version 1.1.5 is live on Steam! The update includes major performance improvements and several other small bug fixes and other improvements.



We've been focusing on Oculus build which had some issues on version 1.0.0. For Oculus users who have a 2 sensor setup, we've added the option to rotate with both thumbsticks for a more immersive 360 experience.

Alchemist Defender VR 1.0.1 is Live!

We want to thank again the Early Access community who have witnessed the whole development process from the first Early Access 0.1 version. We have come a long way and have more plans in the upcoming months.

Oculus Rift Compatibility and Upcoming Launch Announcement

Hey Everyone,

First of all, we want to give a big shout out to all of our Early Access Discord community that have been working closely with the Dev Team to improve the game and squash bugs. If anyone wants to join before launch here is an invite: https://discord.gg/NuENrbz. We have been sharing a few secrets of the game with the Discord team.



First big announcement, version 0.9 is live with Oculus Rift Compatibility. The core game play is the same as the Vive version but we added a few platform specific mechanics and visual details.

The next big announcement is that we are launching version 1.0 this Wednesday 22nd of November. We are super exited and eternally grateful to the Early Access community who made this journey possible. We have really enjoyed the whole development and production of Alchemist Defender VR.

We want to note that this is definitely not the end of journey. We have some big plans for a major update before the end of the year holidays as well as some possible future plans for MobileVR/Oculus Go as well as a possible PSVR port.

Again we are so grateful to everyone who took part in this journey. We hope Alchemist Defender VR lives up to this new generation of immersive experiences. We deeply believe we are at the beginning of a new generation of how humans experience realities.

Announcing major new update

Hey Everyone,

We are very excited to announce a huge new update to Alchemist Defender VR. New levels, new weapons, new enemies and new gameplay. We are very exited about this new update and would love to get your guys feedback.

We want to give a special shoutout to some of the Early Access members that have really helped us out during the earlier stages of the game. These users being Bald Bull, code2quest and B.O.R.G. We are very grateful to have you guys supporting us from the early stages of Alchemist Defender VR.

We are currently in the final development stage of Alchemist Defender VR. We are pushing to launch the game in October. There is still a lot of work to do and we would love to work closely with the Early Access community and ask you guys to join us in the final testing stage. We are opening a Discord server to have direct communication with the Dev Team to discuss game balance, design decisions and other day to day game development discussions. We are also available on Twitter with daily updates on the progress of Alchemist Defender VR.

New VR UI design



After several design iterations we have been slowly but constantly improving the User Interface. UI/UX in VR has really proven to be a big challenge. What we as VR developers think is obvious we have found that players with no VR experience are completely lost. Showing lots of information for us developers is better but for a new user can be overwhelming. Knowing where to pay attention for us is obvious but for Non VR user not so much.

Here is the new UI we put together after several design iterations. We would love to get your feedback on the new design.

Previous UI Design



Testing with users who have little VR experienced has given us extremely helpful insights. Watching people play VR for the first time is always amusing. Witnessing the awe dropping experience of entering a new virtual world for the first time is priceless. These testing instances give us key insights on many of the design decisions we had done. Iteration after iteration we have been polishing and improving the UI.

One of the biggest decisions we had to take was cutting out a key feature to offer a better VR experience. We had developed a tower hight changing system that allowed the user to select the tower height before placing a tower. This is a great feature since it adds variability in the strategic decisions where the user has to budget his coins by placing small towers and tall towers in key locations around the map. After developing the feature we noticed in the testing stage that users didn’t understand what the feature did or added a frustration of being overwhelmed with additional options and information. After long discussions we decided to remove this feature. We decided that a cleaner and better VR experience was more important an additional feature.

New Levels



From the last Update we have added 2 new full featured levels into Alchemist Defender VR. The Mushroom and Lava worlds. We are very happy with these new levels and have put lots of work into making the experience of being inside these worlds magical.






There is still some lighting details we have to work on, especially in the Mushroom world but a final version should be available very soon.

New Weapons



We added new sets of weapons for each new level. The weapon system is still classified as melee, ranged and proximity mine. We really think the community is going to love these new weapons. We have always tried to innovate with new mechanics and not use the cliche weapons like bow and arrow. We think you will love them.

New Tower Defense system



Since the core mechanic of the game is a Tower Defense we have put lots of work into creating some amazing looking towers. Here are showcase image of the new Fast Cannon.

Announcing Update: v0.2

Hi Everyone,

We are very happy to announce that a major update has just been released. We are super exited about the feedback and reception of the Alchemist Defender VR players. One of the most repeated feedback suggestions we received were players wanting more content and this is exactly what we have been working on since that last update.

We have also be reorganizing the core logic of the game so adding in new content in the following updates will be available much faster.

Hope you enjoy all of the new content. Any feedback and suggestions are more than welcome.

New Level



The theme of level 2 is a spooky graveyard environment. We have been focusing mainly on a mystical greenish color pallet and have put a lot of emphasis in lighting ambience.



Level 2 has an extended battle ground that Level 1. Multiple enemy routes will add complexity to the challenge of defending the main gate.



New Enemies



We custom built a new set of enemies composed of three classes: Runner, Healer and Tank.



The new set of enemies have a much larger scale than the enemies of level 1. The first person combat gives a more intimidating experience to the player.


New Weapons



The player will be equipped with three new weapons of the same class as level 1: Melee, Ranged, Mine.

For the Melee we designed a spiked mace which destroys the skeleton enemies with ease.



For the ranged weapon we designed an Alchemist Crossbow equipped with exploding arrows. The player will be able to manually recharge the crossbow in battle. The firing rate in this weapons is in the hands of the player.




Upcoming Updates



We are very exited about all of the new content that has been added to Alchemist Defender VR Early Access. We will be releasing a new update very soon with a few hot fixes of some known bugs.

We also have a new content set already on its way. New level, enemies and weapon.

We are also redesigned the tower system to add in a whole new concept of how the player adds in towers into the battle field. We are currently brainstorming and testing out a few ideas. We are really exited about redesigning this concept.

Announcing update v0.12

Hi Everyone,

We are exited to announce that update v0.12 is live on Steam. We have been hot fixing some bugs that we missed and adding more VR interaction in the menu environment. We are working on bringing a new update really soon. We will also be sharing some sneak peaks of the new level we are working on.

Here are some of the new features in update v0.12:

Regenerating broken objects



Breaking things in VR is fun. To extend this fun we added in a regeneration feature to the breakable objects in the Menu. Now players can enjoy endlessly breaking things.




New ways to destroy objects



Apart from throwing bottles on the floor or destroying things with your War Hammer, we added a few new ways to satisfy the player's desire for destruction.

Welcome to Alchemist Defender VR Early Access

Hi Everyone,

We are very exited to have launched Alchemist Defender VR Early Access. We want to deeply thank everyone who has already joined us on the Early Access journey.

This new chapter of Alchemist Defender VR has just begun. We have big plans for the next few months.

We are currently working on the first update which hopefully will be released by the end of next week. One of the main components we are working on is adding more interactivity in the main menu. This new update will also include audio improvements as well as some fine tuning to the game balance of the 18 waves of the first level.

We would also like to announce that a new level is already in development. This new level will have a Graveyard/Spooky theme and will have a skeleton army. We have attached a preview of the progress of the skeleton enemies.

In the next few days we will be starting new discussions where we can start brainstorming future levels, enemies, weapons and general ideas for the future of the game. We want to invite the Alchemist Defender VR community to joint our idea brainstorms.

We want to remind everyone that this game has just been launched as an Early Access and that we will be working hard in the next few month to complete the game and officially launch as a full featured VR tower defense game.

We are very thankful to everyone who has joined us during this process. We will be publishing as much of the development process as possible and have open ears and minds to any suggestions, feedback, comments or ideas. Our goal is to create the best Virtual Reality tower defense game available on the market.
