Have you ever needed help getting through a puzzle in Alekon? Or wanted to read up on the lore and behind-the-scenes trivia? Well, thanks to our community members ZoraDementio and Mr Pie 5, you can now do that on the Alekon Community Wiki!
Alekon 1.3
This patch doesn't have a single main feature, but instead includes hundreds of small improvements - more customization options, fewer invisible walls, faster loading times, improved tutorials, prettier lighting, and major performance improvements.
To support an upcoming platform port, we have redesigned many of the core parts of the game's graphics system, which provided huge performance improvements for lower end machines without any loss of quality. Any PC with a graphics chip from the past decade should now be able to run the game, and most PCs that were able to run the game on medium graphics settings previously should now be able to run it on the highest quality and still perform more smoothly.
And since it's gifting season, we're offering Alekon at an unprecedented 75% discount! We hope you enjoy the game!
Happy Holidays!
Alekon 1.2
With this patch, we've added full gamepad support to Alekon. Every game system and interface has been updated to behave differently depending on your input method, so we can provide the ideal user experience for both the players who use a mouse and keyboard, and those who prefer to use a gamepad.
We've also added a variety of quality of life features and optimizations that will hopefully make the experience even more enjoyable for everyone! Many of these were based on feedback we've received on the Steam forums, from streamers, and on our Discord. We look forward to receiving more such feedback to continue improving the game, and of course if you enjoyed it, please drop us a Steam review!
To celebrate this patch, we're also offering both the game and the soundtrack at a 25% discount until March 7th!
Alekon 1.1
We've released a number of patches since launch, adding a variety of small features and improvements based on your feedback, and patch 1.1 is the biggest one yet!
Kickstarting Your Creativity
Sometimes creativity requires a little push to flourish. That's why we are adding randomization to all of the customization options in the game. Don't feel like configuring every little decoration on the Celebratory Spruce? Hit the Randomize button and you'll get a fully decorated tree to further customize! The same can be done with your graffiti tag, a fiction's clothing choice, and all the other customizers.
We hope this change will help people engage more easily with the dozens of customization rewards unlocked throughout the game!
Acknowledging Perfection
We were surprised to find that quite a few players went as far as taking a perfectly scored photo of every pose in the game! While there's an achievement for capturing every pose, there was no reward for perfecting them all. So we went ahead an added a brand new reward for that! Highlight the spoiler below if you want to find out more!
Once you perfect every pose, Japley will congratulate you and let you set up a group photo at the Well of Whimsy, where you can arrange the fictions of your choice and take a commemorative photo that includes all of your fiction customizations, including colors and clothing! You can talk to Japley afterwards to arrange further group photos.
If you've already perfected every photo before patch 1.1, you will be offered the reward next time you return from a trip having taken any photos.
Rhythm Game Difficulty
One of the most common pieces of feedback we've received is that the rhythm mini-games can be very challenging to players not used to that genre, so we went back and adjusted the difficulty on all of them, and additionally, we've changed how mistakes are handled. Now, as you hit correct notes you gain points that forgive future mistakes, which will allow you to recover from early mistakes as the song goes on!
Faster Loading
A small minority of players using older hardware have experienced very long loading times when starting and ending photo trips. To counter this, we've added support for optional texture streaming. This will drastically improve loading time on lower-end systems, at the cost of minor texture popping. This feature is enabled by default on graphics settings below Magnificent, and can be turned on or off in the settings menu.
Other Changes
In addition to the larger changes described above, here's a list of other fixes and improvements included in this patch:
Added a tutorial for mind reading.
Added paper boats in the Prickly Pass river when returning after the entire river is unblocked.
Added a hint about being able to switch fictions in the clothing customizer.
Improved score counting clarity in Hippoli's score challenge quest.
Improved grammar and readability in various dialogues.
Improved some NPC cameras to better see their emotes.
Increased the mistake allowance in the music rhythm games.
Fixed the depth of field lens not working correctly on low graphics settings.
Fixed how visibility is calculated for the Shrooma hiding pose.
Fixed the Bizyburd mesh using a low detail version from too near a distance.
Fixed clipping in some snowman body parts.
25% Off Until August 2nd
Last but not least, as part of the World Conservation Day celebration, both Alekon and the Original Soundtrack will be available at 25% off until August 2nd.
We hope you enjoy the game, and we're looking forward to hearing more of your feedback!
