Version 2.00 -- One Way Roads and more!

This major update will be followed by some smaller changes over the next few days. One way roads offer a new opportunity for strategy. Putting them together with roundabouts and overpasses can produce some very complex road networks and your opportunity to shine with good strategy.

The update includes:

  • Roads curve more naturally, and taper nicely from one road type to another.
  • Vehicle pathing through roundabouts is better than before.
  • The glossary includes some of the recent upgrades.
  • The tutorial is tighter and teaches the game better.
  • One way road tiles offer a new strategy to the game.
  • Cleanup of some small graphics nuances such as water motion.
  • UI doesn't wobble like it did before. Entering the game is a clean dissolve.
  • The exploit of free upgrades when changing road types on bridge-ways is gone.
  • Some cities have larger item exchange options.

I will continue updating the game for the next few weeks. Perhaps updates will last longer if I can figure out how to market this game. I am a single mom trying to make a living as a solo game developer with no other means of support. How can I get people to buy this game? Should the game sales really take off then there will be updates long into the future.

User control that blocks neighborhoods from auto-connecting to nearby roads is upcoming soon, as well as some fixing some graphics issues in the game and UI. I believe this game could be beautiful, but beauty takes time.

if this game makes it to the long term than I really hope to add a day-of-the-week challenge. For example, every Monday there is a random "Mega Monday" map where you have ridiculous amounts of inventory to work with. These day-of-the-week maps would give me a good testbed for some new ideas including different play styles. "Turn-based Tuesday" would be a wonderful challenge to implement.

Version 1.24 - Bug fixes

This patch fixes a number of bugs. Most importantly,

  • The road traffic colors remain visible on re-loaded games.
  • An impassible region on the northern edge of Staten Island in New York now allows roads.
  • Some visual oddities in the Paris map are repaired.

Version 1.23 - The Roundabout

The old traffic light wasn't very effective at controlling traffic. The roundabout replaces the traffic light and provides pretty effective traffic control. Drag it onto an intersection and give it a try!

Version 1.22 - Freeways Don't Slow Down

Whether a freeway crosses another freeway or crosses a simple road the traffic continues at freeway speed limits, not slowing down for the intersecting road.

Also, minor balance changes to New York.

Version 1.21 - Easily Upgrade Bridges

You can now rebuild the road across an existing bridge without first destroying the bridge. No more destroying bridges just to upgrade a road to a freeway! This also applies to tunnels.

Version 1.20 - Camera Bug Fixes

Fixed various camera related bugs including one where restoring a saved game results in being zoomed-in too far. Unfortunately, this does not fix existing saved games. Also made balance improvements to Rio de Janeiro.

Version 1.19 - Bridge & Tunnel Destruction

When bridges and tunnels are destroyed there is now an accompanying effect.

Version 1.18

Added road building and destroying sounds as well as effects to make the process of building feel better.

Version 1.17 - London Balance

Improvements are made to the London item progression so that the first city is a little easier to master.

Version 1.16 - Ferry Good Capacity

Ferries were intended to have capacity corresponding to the length of the ferry route. This update makes ferry boats and parking lots for longer ferry routes have larger sizes.
