Presenting American Arcadia’s first in-person demo, official trailer & gameplay
Dear fellow citizens!
We've had a pretty exciting and nonstop few weeks and we're happy to be able to have some time to go through all the fun events and happy news in this recap.
On June 9th the team assembled for the #SummerGameFest where American Arcadia’s official trailer was being shown to the public!
It was really special to be able to share and watch the event together and enjoy people's first reactions to the game across social media. But the fun was only beginning, because the next day part of the team flew to New York to attend The Tribeca Festival!
We previously mentioned in one of our blog posts, that American Arcadia was selected as part of the Tribeca 2022 Festival Games program. What a great reason to flee Arcadia’s dome and go on a mini adventure to the city that never sleeps!
We really enjoyed watching people trying to escape from Arcadia in our very first demo. The booth displayed some exclusive concept art that players loved. We were also featured in the Tribeca Spotlight at the Summer Game Fest with a documentary about the making of American Arcadia.
It was amazing to finally attend an in-person event after so long, being able to meet such talented developers like Night School Studio (Oxenfree). And the party only got better because our wonderful VO stars Cissy Jones and Krizia Bajos joined us for the occasion. We really want to thank the Tribeca organization for their amazing work and how well they treated us.
During that same weekend, we were also delighted to be featured in the Future Games Show with brand spanking new exclusive behind-the-scenes footage about the making of American Arcadia.
On our trip back home, we read the first previews from media outlets of American Arcadia’s demo and it's hard to put into words how happy they made us. Here's some excerpts below.

American Arcadia Full Trailer Premieres at Summer Game Fest
Some months ago we showed you a sneak peek of American Arcadia when we announced it had been nominated for the Tribeca Festival 2022 Games Selection.
Now we are proud to present the official trailer reveal that has just been unveiled at Summer Game Fest tonight!
This world premiere gives players the first detailed look at our upcoming 2.5D platformer and first-person puzzler, where players explore the unique stories of two characters – each with their own distinct gameplay – whose lives and fates are intertwined.
"As we did with Call of the Sea, we wanted to move into a world that was evocative for us. We like to create worlds that are striking, visually appealing, and evocative," commented Daniel Nombela, our Art Director at Out of the Blue. "We also like to give them a twist and in this case, we have chosen a bright and colorful vision of the 70's. The characters, the environments, and even the furniture represent this utopian and kitsch version of a city of the 70's."
“Trevor Hills is just an average person, living a mundane life and enjoying his daily routine; it's the little things that make him happy,” says Tatiana Delgado, the co-founder and Creative Director at Out of the Blue. “In the real world that wouldn’t be a problem, but in Arcadia, where citizens are secretly being broadcast live, 24/7, not being popular enough means trouble. So when Trevor realizes that everything is a lie and that the show wants to get rid of him, his life changes completely.”
But Trevor finds help from a mysterious voice promising to guide him through American Arcadia's backstage to his freedom. Is this offer real, or merely a gimmick to raise audience ratings?
"In American Arcadia, nothing is what it seems, and we have tried to convey that idea in the puzzles as well,” declares Álvaro González, our Lead Game Designer. "In most cases, the solution is never what it initially seems. The player will always have to use logic and deduction to figure out how to solve the situations presented to them."

Announcing: AMERICAN ARCADIA
After all these months, we here at Out of the Blue Games are extremely happy to finally share with you what we have been developing: American Arcadia. And once more, we are working together with our friends at Raw Fury to make it a reality.
American Arcadia is a thrilling single player experience that combines two gameplay styles, a 2.5D action side-scroller including challenging platform action, breath-taking chases, stealth and puzzles. As well as a full 3D first-person game, with hacking, exploration, stealth elements, and puzzles to solve.
The game takes inspiration from movies and TV shows like The Truman Show, Logan’s Run and The Prisoner. As in Call of the Sea, we love to create striking visually appealing worlds, and in this case we have chosen a bright and colorful version of the 70's. The characters, the furniture, the environments, represent this utopian and kitsch version of a 70's city.
In our games, we like to design characters that are not what you would usually expect in a video game. Meet Trevor Hills, an average man enjoying a mundane life in Arcadia, the retro futuristic 70's city that is nothing but a huge TV set for the most watched reality show in America. Meet Angela Solano, a Puerto Rican stage technician that works for the show and will help Trevor escape. But these characters wouldn’t shine if it wasn’t for our amazing cast. We have Cissy Jones and Yuri Lowenthal on board again, because we absolutely adored their performances as Norah and Harry in Call of the Sea. And we welcome the talented Krizia Bajos to the cast, and many more.
We are also really proud to share that American Arcadia has been selected as part of the Tribeca Festival 2022 Games Program.
