Here’s a new update from us. The "Covid crater" coined previously is sadly still taking up space, but it won’t stop us from launching our new prototype demo, cinematic trailer and Kickstarter campaign in Spring 2021!
What’s been happening?
We’re continuing to survive doing work for hire and supporting other game projects. We helped Might and Delight with programming for Book of Travels, a TMO (Tiny Online Multiplayer) that PC Gamer wrote: “It could change the way we think about MMOs..”
We're still working remotely. We’ve taken on art interns and a new part time community manager. The team is continuing to work on the release for you! It may be a bit slower than we imagined but it’s happening.

We’re breathing life into these cinematic environments and beautiful sweeping shots. Our trailer will not only feature in our new prototype demo, but on socials and in our kickstarter.

The Year 2040 - A Peaceful Future?
Alongside our cool looking VTOL aircraft we have come up with something we call an "EMP Torus" which is meant to be a peaceful deterrent in this world. Wars and conflicts exist in this future too, but we might just have found a way to deal with them more smartly, more peacefully. Above you can see our idea about "anti-weapon weapons", or a super huge EMP device run on renewable energy.
We are Crabpunk
Stories are a bit like roads… Some go to dark places, happy places, others wind through heaven and hell. Among Ripples is one of those stories. Cyberpunk is a dystopian genre showing us roads we as societies shouldn’t take. Utopia or “Hopepunk” depicts the paths we need to take to achieve happiness on Earth. A friend once said it’s like a society's collective dreams and nightmares. And what happens between those states are the waking moments when we’re conscious.
We may be pessimistic sometimes, the struggles we face to obtain sustainable living feels almost impossible…. Do we have a future? That’s what we’re imagining in Among Ripples: Shallow Waters. Utopia feels alien and a dystopia too close to home. So we’re calling it Crabpunk; a future far from perfect, but one I can imagine us working towards.
As we said before, publishers have been interested but a few people in the game industry are on the fence. Some people think environment and ecology is too niche. But we know it’s not, and with your support, we're going to make it! Let's crab it!

It's been awhile, I hope you're safe. We're still working and things are finally settling after the "Covid crater" as a colleague put it. It's been a hectic few months since March, 2020. But now we're back to inform that we will launch a new Kickstarter campaign in early 2021! Let's start with showing our work in progress intro to celebrate (soon you can see it in glorious three dimensions).

What's Been Happening?
In short we've spent these months trying to survive, doing work for hire, applying for loans, grants and investments. We also spent two months pitching to a major publisher and almost got signed with a huge budget, but fell through. It's also been interesting to transition to a complete remote team, from being in an office for 5+ years. We're going to work remotely as long as the pandemic continues.
We've found more work for hire until the end of the year and our investors have given us some more money to keep going. We're in a position where half of the team can work full on with the prototype and prepare for the new release.
Improved Prototype
Since March, 2020 we've improved the feedback and are upgrading the visuals, the economy system and improved the animal AI and mechanics. It's still a proof of concept, but we're trying to show how we can iterate with feedback. There's still no insects though, sorry. ;) Check out the paintover below with our new "Eco Ship", a VTOL aircraft (vertical take-off and landing), it will complement our awesome eco van.
A New Kickstarter
We're doing a new campaign in the beginning of next year, early 2021. There are publishers who are slightly interested, but a lot of people in the game industry are on the fence, they want us to show numbers, some feel that games about the environment and ecology is too niche. If you ask me I think it's something that anyone on Earth can relate to in some way, but I digress. We're going to show everyone that Among Ripples: Shallow Waters is a game people want, and with you, our early fans we're going to make it!

We're part of Steam Game Festival and to celebrate that we're hosting a "you ask us, we ask you" session.
You Ask Us
The rules are simple, you ask us questions about the game, our game studio or general development questions and we will answer. We will host these question sessions online until the 22th June, 2020. You can ask us questions on these platforms:
We will answer these questions during the coming days on these platforms, but please be patient during the weekend, we need our beauty sleep. We will compile all the answers into a FAQ which we will post on our newsletter (sign up today!) next week. You need to sign up to get the full demo experience anyway so there's a nice bonus for you. ;)
We Ask You
In the same newsletter where we compile all answers from all platforms we're going to send you a few questions too, a questionnaire. We want to know what you think about some decisions and features. If you don't ask you'll never know, as they say. What you ask us first might change the nature of the questionnaire so your actions have consequences, they create ripples, as it were.
So please ask us questions until the 22th June and after that we'll send you newsletter folk a compiled list. We will be answering questions live-ish on each platform but only compile in the newsletter (hey, we got to collect eyeballs too you know).

Demo Now Available on Steam

Valve just approved our demo and you can now download it on the coming soon page for Among Ripples: Shallow Waters. Hope you enjoy!
Please remember that this is a proof of concept prototype so it's not an optimised game, older computers may have problems running it on higher resolutions. The finished game will of course be much more polished. :)

New Demo Available
Hello everyone,
We have now uploaded the new demo for you to try out. In the new sandbox maps you can explore more of the possibilities of the game. Each map has its own season.
We have added three new sandbox maps with different seasons and a new toxic trash gameplay mechanic. To play these you need to subscribe to our newsletter. Everyone who are already subscribed can download the new demo and login with your email to unlock the new demo. What the game does is simply ask Mailchimp (our newsletter provider) if you're subscribed and if Mailchimp says yes you're good to go. :)
Coming to Steam Soon
We were not able to upload the demo in time, Valve will review it for release here on Steam for a few days. We will update you when it's finally online here. But if you're really itching to try it you still have four other ways!

A lot has happened since we last spoke, we're starting to get the funding for the project together. We haven't found a publisher yet but if we play our cards right we will make it anyway, maybe we'll find one later down the line. The important thing to know is that we're progressing on the development with Among Ripples: Shallow Waters!
