Make sure you're on version 16.0.5 so you're good to go! Let's take a look at what it covers.
If everything goes according to plan (fingers crossed for no sabotages), you won't notice any big changes. This is because the update focused on changes to the backend, which helps us keep development moving forward. This includes improvements for how we tackle hacks, exploits, and bugs.
Patch Notes
Here are some of the changes you can see in this update:
[The Fungle] [Classic] - Impostors and Shapeshifters can't kill through sabotaged doors anymore (you're safe for now, Crewmates!)
Hack fixes - We deployed anti-hacks and are keeping our visors peeled for any new sabotages. Big thank you to everyone who reported the issues, and to the hard work of the programming team.
Updates to the Kamurocho Cosmicube - We updated some Kamurocho cosmetic names along with a minor store image change (can you spot the difference?)
If you come across any new issues, remember to send us a helpdesk ticket!
Welcome to the part of the devlog where we talk about the bugs and glitches that have creepily crawled into the game. Here's what you may run into while you're prepping your alibi:
Known Bugs
Switching from windowed to fullscreen may break the UI.
In rare cases, accepting a game invite will cause a disconnect with the Among Us servers.
It is difficult to see currently highlighted buttons on the Find Game screen while using a controller.
Exiting Practice Mode returns players to the Main Menu instead of the Online Menu.
In rare instances, buttons can't be selected while in the Dropship.
Players may remain on the Find Game screen when trying to join a lobby after a network disconnect.
[Hide n Seek] - Win stats are not updating as intended.
The team is working hard to eject these bugs, so hang tight! If you encounter any bugs or glitches, send us a ticket via our helpdesk! Remember to be as descriptive as possible so we can hone in on a solution and get you back to your tasks.
Before you enter the Dropship, let's take a moment to talk about one of the more recent bugs that's had an impact on Among Us.
Disconnects and Temporary Bans
When we released 16.0.0, we saw more black screen errors reported by players when trying to start a round. This would crash the game and give out an incorrect temporary ban (like in the screenshot above), which made for an understandably frustrating experience.
Let's break down how the temporary bans work:
Temp bans exist to discourage players from disrupting the game flow. This can be for things like: repeatedly leaving games before they're over, or leaving right after role reveals because you didn't get the Impostor role.
Leaving one game before it's over shouldn't result in an immediate temp ban.
Leaving multiple games before they conclude will start to count against you and potentially get you a temp ban.
Before the 16.0.0 update, you could completely close Among Us, and that would clear a temp ban. Now, this isn't possible.
With the last hotfix (16.0.2), we tweaked how you could get a temp ban. Now, if you disconnect from the game before roles are revealed, that won't count against you.
Now, you should see far fewer instances of getting a false temp ban (AKA super long timeout) because of a black screen or game crash.
That was a lot of info! Hopefully, this helps clarify what's been happening. Before we go, let's dive into the Fun Zone!
One of my favorite parts about writing these blog posts is sharing the creations y'all come up with. Without further ado, let's start off with some art from our official Discord.
This piece is rad looking bean is by Zel! Gotta say, those Kamurocho cosmetics go pretty hard. I wouldn't mess with Lime.
This next piece also comes from the art section of our Discord. Honestly, SMHtheConeDodger captured how I act during Emergency Meetings, haha... don't look into it.
This next piece is from DarkD33z over on the subreddit! I love how Red is looming in the background like the villian on a movie poster. The shimmering effect across the colors is really slick too. Great job!!
You Crewmates are so talented! Keep up the great work, cause we never get tired of seeing what you're making. Remember to tag us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, and TikTok when you're sharing so we can get our visors on what you make.
Thanks for sticking with us!

A match made in update 16.0.0 | Emergency Meeting #40
Matchmaker, find me a match!
Update 16.0.0 is here and brings an important change to Among Us! Remember to update your game so you get these changes and can keep betraying everyone.
Matchmaking Update
HERE. WE. GO. Our overhauled matchmaking is here! The team made changes thanks to your responses to last year's player feedback survey. Your thoughts have had a big influence on the kind of chaos we bring in updates like this. Thanks for helping shape Among Us.
Finding Games
At the core of matchmaking, we want to make sure you have the right tools to find the lobby you want. With that in mind, our team put their heads together and cooked up this new interface:
Doesn't that look snazzy? The screen delivers key info at a glance like: the amount of lobbies currently online in your server region, the map, and how many Crewmates there are. We added the player speed and if roles are activated too. With all these visible right away, you can quickly choose a lobby if you're trying to jump into a round.
We've heard your cries for improved filtering! Now you can fine tune your searches via the "Filters" button. When you do, you'll see this new screen:
In the "Filters" screen you can choose the settings you'd like to home in on for your preferred lobby. Choices include:
Classic
Hide n Seek
Maps
Number of Impostors
Roles
Player Speed
Kill cooldown
Voting time
Visual tasks
Anonymous votes
Confirm ejects
Tags (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert)
After you select your settings and close the tab, you'll see how many lobbies match your choices and be able to join. If you can't find any games with the settings you chose, either unselect some or choose the "clear filters" option to wipe all the filters at once and start over! This just means you've gotten too specific.
When you find a lobby you're ready to join, you can either tap the listing to dive right in or click "More" and see the game details:
If the lobby settings look good to you, it's time to join and investigate some Impostors (or at least carry your fellow Crewmates).
Lobby Creation
For those Crewmates who like holding the reins and creating lobbies - your experience has been upgraded too. After you select Play and Online you'll see 3 options: Create Game, Enter Code, and Find Game. When you choose Create Game you'll see this:
Along with the cute animation every time you increase the player capacity, you'll be able to choose between:
Classic and Hide n Seek modes
The 5 maps
Tags
Server regions
Chat types
Chat language
When you select "Create Game" you'll see a confirmation screen before it's set in stone and unchangeable forever... bwahahahahahaha (not really - you can always change these).
"But what about the roles and visual tasks and confirming votes...?" You'll still be able to edit these settings once you're in the Dropship by going to the good ol' laptop and editing the settings from the menu we updated previously:
Joining a Game
Among Us is best when playing with your friends (and soon to be enemies). When one of them sends you a lobby code to join a match you'll have an updated screen as well:
Now, when you enter a code you'll be able to confirm the host, lobby capacity, region, and the chat type. If all looks in order, you can click "Join Game" and enter the lobby. And don't worry if your chat type or region don't match - the game will update this for you (as long as you have permissions to use Free Chat) so you can focus on the upcoming chaos!
Wooooo - that was a lot of info. If you find it a bit confusing, check out our handy tutorial. We hope these changes make it WAY easier for you to find that perfect lobby and be the impressive Impostors you really are.
As you start getting used to the new setup, we'd love your feedback as well as any reports on bugs that may have skittered in with this update. You can send those to us at our helpdesk!
Kamurocho Collab
It's time to be(an) like a dragon, Crewmates! Our first Cosmicube collab of the year is here. Spend 110 Stars so you can start unlocking some criminally good cosmetics - check our collab blog for the details.
With these hot new cosmetics you'll be ready for The Skeld karaoke party or to chase after all those Crewmates dressed like Kiryu-chan...
Before you head to the cafeteria, let's cover one more change for this update.
New Version Number
Those of you with sharp visors will note that I called this update 16.0.0 instead of v2025.3.25. That's because of Impostor sabotage the team wanted to make things easier for us going forward.
What do the new numbers mean? Well, if we reference the image above:
The first number (blue box) increases whenever we have major updates. Think updated systems like matchmaking, or content like new maps or roles!
The second number (red box) increases when we have smaller updates. This includes things like bug fixes or cosmetic drops.
The third number in the series (yellow box) will increase if we deploy hotfixes or have platform specific changes.
This new version system will also help us narrow down what could be causing you trouble if you have to send us a helpdesk ticket.
Speaking of the helpdesk - let's check in with Mike in the Bug Zone!
So many things to explore! Our team has worked hard on our tasks to get the new matchmaking feature ready, and we hope you love all the new ways to find exactly the lobbies you want. But like any new feature, there's always the chance that some things don't work exactly like we planned.
Don't worry, we're keeping a lookout! If you see anything that doesn't work, are having trouble finding games with your friends, or see anything else that might be a new bug crawling out from under the Dropship, let us know. Crewmates like yourselves play a big role in helping us find and squash bugs, ya know!
If you find something wrong, head over to this page and send us a message. Remember - specific is better! Tell us everything you can, send screenshots, record a video if you can get the issue to happen more than once, etc. Our team will look over everything and figure out if there's something to fix.
Phew. Okay, enough bug talk. Time to create the perfect lobby to sabotage diligently complete my tasks...
Mike
If you made it here, you have one final task... check out some fun community creations!
First up is from one redditor, Ok_Walk_9285! They drew some adorable little Crewmates and did it all through MS Paint?! Great color choices and cute style, imo.
Our second piece of community art is also from the subreddits! This cool automata was made by backwardslamb. Major kudos on bringing Red out of the vent... literally!
This third creation was drawn by Felix from our official Discord server! They took a "bean of the week" prompt and personified it. I think you should add a gold star, Felix! You earned it.
We never get tired of seeing the wonderful art and creations y'all make! Be sure to tag us on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky and Tiktok when you're sharing so we can get our visors on what you make.
Off to the karaoke lounge,

Among Us Version Number Changes
Hiya Crewmates!
Small heads up that starting with the next update, we'll be changing how we display the version number for Among Us. We thought it'd be fun to explain what the numbers mean but it you don't care then uh... just go ahead and exit the page.
Let's use the picture below as a reference:
The first number (blue box) increases whenever we have major updates. Think updated systems like matchmaking, or content like new maps or roles!
The second number (red box) increases when we have smaller updates. This includes things like bug fixes or cosmetic drops.
The third number in the series (yellow box) will increase if we deploy hotfixes or have platform specific changes.
As an example, if we have bug fixes after this update the version number would turn into 16.1.0. Then if we deployed a hotfix, the number would update to 16.1.1.
And there you have it. Now the only thing you have to worry about with the upcoming updates is your alibi!
Off to fake some tasks,
Dors
Among Us 2022 Depreciation
Greetings, Crewmates!
As of today, we will no longer be supporting any 2022 versions of Among Us. If you see "v2022" on the top left of the main menu, you will be affected. Please update your game to v2024.11.26 as soon as possible so you can keep slinging false accusations playing!
We plan to keep expanding Among Us with features, roles, bug updates, improved security, etc. and getting Crewmates on similar versions helps with that development. As we keep completing tasks, eventually 2023 versions will have to be depreciated too but don't worry! We're not quite there yet. We'll keep you informed when that time comes.
Thanks for understanding and sticking with us no matter which version you've been playing on.
This is the BEST way for you to make sure Admin hears your thoughts on Among Us. We use this data to better inform future updates, fixes, and plans for the year, so make sure you fill it out now - the survey will close on March 31st, 2025.
Are you enjoying the Phantom, Tracker, and Noisemaker? What would make Among Us even more fun? What do you want to see in the game? What problems have you had? Why isn't cheese a topping in the burger making task?
There are still plenty of ways for Among Us to continue growing - help shape it with your 10000 IQ.
Got it? Good. Now fill it out. DO IT. GO GO GO GO GO.
NOTE: Please update your games! In early March, any 2022 versions of Among Us will be depreciated (removed) - if your game starts with "v2022" at all, you will be affected. Prepare yourselves and update now for the most seamless transition. The latest version is v2024.11.26. As Among Us grows, we need to ensure everyone is on similar versions for security and feature development reasons. We'll post again with information when it officially happens - thanks for your understanding!
With our note complete, it's time for the 2025 roadmap - also known as our game development plans for the year! Of course, all things are subject to change, but we want to continue being transparent about what we're doing.
Roadmap 2025 - The Year of Plans
Matchmaking Overhaul
Okay! So! With more and more roles, we realized matchmaking needed a makeover so it'd be easier to find the specific settings you like to play with. Wish you knew what the player speed was going to be before joining? If Anonymous Votes are on or off? Us too, and that's something we're aiming to get you that within the next month.
Also, when accepting room codes, you'll be able to check the settings on the lobby before you join. If everything looks right you'll join in without having to update your region or chat type - it'll change automatically (if you have the proper permissions)! Pretty snazzy, imo.
Even More Roles! 2? 3?? 4???
We added the Noisemaker, Tracker, and Phantom last June bringing the total number of roles up to 7! Why stop there when we could introduce even more levels of deception and chaos?
We're being ambitious and aiming to bring in... uh... 2? 3?? 4??? new roles this year. We're still testing them out for ultimate fun-ness. (Real word I made up.) The goal will be as many as we can, but don't yell at us if you only get 2. (Fun fact: We have about 12 different new role ideas cooking.) Our goal is to bring our own twist to roles while still balancing gameplay for all platforms, so it's always an interesting science experiment. Hope you enjoy them when they're out!
SPOILER: Right now, the most promising roles we're testing involve poison and maybe some detective work... but we'll see. 🧐 And now you get to brag that you have insider knowledge because you read the roadmap. Proud of you.
Cosmetics + Collabs
It's not truly a plan for 2025 if we don't increase your aura with the finest of bean drip. We'll have some, killer, cute, and of course fabulous collabs with other studios in the works. You won't know what hit (or ejected) you.
And it's not just collab cosmetics either! Our art team is dreaming up some fun Cosmicubes to drop throughout the year with new themes we haven't dressed these unsuspecting space beans in yet.
Security Updates
Am I being a hater for calling security updates boring? I guess they could keep Impostors away. Hmm.
Anyway, we wanted you to know we're constantly working on keeping Among Us (and your tasks) running smoothly and compliant with current legal and safety laws. With more server optimizations and anti-cheats, you're gameplay experience should hopefully continue improving.
Among Us TV
I KNOW. I KNOW EVERYONE HAS BEEN ASKING ABOUT THIS. CBS FREE ME FROM MY CHAINS OF SECRECY I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMOREEEEEEE. Things are COOKING. There will be news SOON.
It's a blast being the bean who gets to share these plans with you! There's so much on the horizon for Among Us and the team can't wait to make it a reality. We'll be talking about these items and more soon!
Off to charge my headset,
Dors
P.S. We're not the only ones with Among Us plans to share. Schell Games, our partner behind Among Us VR, has news to share on February 20th! Keep those visors peeled.
