Ancient lands: the Tsar awakening

Joystick

Now you can use joystick to control the game.

Camera bug fixed

Annoying bug with camera when it moves into a corner and you can't stop it is fixed. It was happened when you used keyboard controls and some game events started and after that camera infinitely moved.

Small improvements

1) When you select the "Blade Tempest" card, all enemies that will be damaged will be highlighted.
2) There is new page with parameters description of cards in the Information window.
3) Hotkeys 1-5 show the big preview of cards if you pressed and hold on.

Alternative controls.

Now you can use keyboard buttons to control camera:
1) W and S - to zoom in and out.
2) A and D - to rotate camera.
3) Arrows - to move camera.
And also use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 buttons to select a card when hero is selected.

Not a clone.

Since I did the game anounce a lot of people asked about is this game a clone of "Metal gear acid" (MGA) or "Warhammer 40k: Spacewolf" (W40kS)?
Answer is no, it's not a clone. In these games there are basic very similar things — turn based battles and cards with a deck instead of weapons, but there are a lot of differences.

  • At first in "Ancient lands: the Tsar awakening" (ALTTA) there's no effort system, all heroes do movements and actions during their turn and all enemies do their stuff in enemy turn.
  • The next difference is movement. In MGA and W40kS heroes use cards to walk and it means that price of the movement equally price of a card. In ALTTA every hero has 4 action points (AP) and every cell movement price is 1 AP. It means that hero can move to 4 cells maximum during his turn.
  • One more difference is actions. In MGA and W40kS there are 2 actions at turn, hero can use 2 cards for movement, attack, etc. In ALTTA every hero have 4 AP and player can do any sequence of movements, attacks, etc.
For example the first hero moved on 1 cell after that the second one attacked someone, the third hero did something, after that the first hero can use cards or move again and other heroes too, of course if they have any AP and cards. So in ALTTA player can create his own sequence of movements/attacks/hero/etc.

These are the basic differences of these games, I hope that these mechanics will be interesting to the players.
Thanks for your attention.

Bestiary is here

Hi everyone,
It was long time without any news but I don't want to post any things about how I moved some buttons little bit left or right and so on. Actually a lot of work is done and will be. But today there is something interesting to show and it's how the bestiary screen was done.

  1. In the most situation I start work from sketch.
  2. Sometimes 3D model has a lot of differences from sketch. You can see that right side has objects that sketch hasn't. This is because in 3D you already see that this screen is too simple when it stays near others and it needs something more.
  3. Here I rendered light, color, ambient occlusion, specular and some other layers and combined it.
  4. Added factures and textures. All this stuff is done by hand painting.
  5. Exporting this result in Unity3d engine and added some particle effects. But it's not final yet because it needs some programming stuff - buttons, update cards data for every enemy and other things.

And that's all, now when you will fight with new enemies they will be unlocked in this screen.

Thanks for reading and your time.
