An Update from Aggro Crab
Hey crabs it's time for a BIG studio update. We made a video version on YouTube which you can watch HERE, but if you prefer to read - this is for you.
In 2024 we released our largest game yet. Another Crab’s Treasure was Aggro Crab’s big project that we had worked on for 3+ years!
We then released Year of the Crab. The team has enjoyed seeing your reactions to a certain mean snail and all the additional new features, including NG+. This content update was a way for us to add features that tied up any loose ends on the project. We've released a series of patches to address any bugs or stability troubles following the content release - so thanks for reporting in our Discord to help us navigate these issues!
It'll likely be the last patch for Another Crab's Treasure unless something like, explodes. This means it’s time for us to move on to new things. So let’s talk about what we did next!
Later in 2024, we announced that we'd begun development on our NEXT project… which we have been calling GAME 3. We were funded for the project already and had begun prototyping almost immediately after Another Crab’s Treasure was released.
We started off excited for a new project, with big ideas and passion! Unfortunately, after a few months… We lost funding. Our funding partner just had different visions to what we saw in Game 3. It happens! We then tried to look for a new funding partner but struggled to find one that we could come to an agreement with. After months of pitching, we decided to shelve game 3 indefinitely.
That game was-
Going Under 2. The sequel to our first game before Another Crab's Treasure.
This choice sucked! But losing funding wasn’t the only reason we decided to do this. Turns out, making a game for 3+ years is hard…and like, makes everyone really tired. Our team was burnt out, and jumping from one large project to another large project was a lot for us to handle. Losing funding really made us evaluate how everyone was feeling underneath it all. The built up exhaustion and burnout was causing us to really resent working on Going Under 2.
Although the screenshots make it look pretty great, we were struggling endlessly to land on a prototype we were actually proud of. Turns out it’s a lot harder to make fun games if we aren’t having any fun doing it.
After assessing all of this, we came to the conclusion that for the future of Aggro Crab's sustainability as a studio and the people themselves, we NEED to change what we’re doing. So we shook things up. Instead of working on a large project again, we started small. No big ideas, just something silly to bring back the spark a few of us were missing. How about a game jam?
We locked in for a month and made a game! Actually… we made TWO GAMES!!!!!!! Some of us collaborated with our friends over at Landfall to make PEAK. You might have seen this on the Landfall day livestream which you can watch here. SO PEAK COMING SOON. THEN the rest of the crew locked in to create the second game, which we’ve been calling Crash Out Crew. We’re calling these small projects An Aggro Crab Side Hustle. Both of these games are quite different to our previous projects, but the team’s passion and sense of humor really shows through, and you can tell we had a lot of fun making them!
In the end, shelving Going Under 2 was hard, and we were super bummed to see it go. But the bright side is, in return, we got two smaller scoped projects that gave us the chance to self fund ourselves. It’s pretty hype that we can even do that as an indie studio, especially in the current climate of the games industry with layoffs and the works. Not only did we get two new games out of it- we got our spark back. We’re actually excited and proud to release these games for you to see. You can expect more on both of these games soon, even sooner than you realize.
But ofc we didn't stop there...
Once those are done, we also have a third, larger project that we plan to start this year. THAT'S RIGHT. OUR NEW GAME 3! You can’t stop us. We’re actually excited to get back into a large project now!
So yeah. It’s been a hectic 2025 for us already. But it’s looking good! Keep an eye out for future updates, and thank you again for all the support on Another Crab’s Treasure and our scrappy indie studio.

Hey we fixed more things!
FIXES:
Fixed an issue where killing one out of the two Lichenthropes in NG+ could break the game.
Fixed issues where Voltai and Petroch's achievements could be obtained without actually defeating them.
ALL damage applied to Kril will now scale with NG+2 and beyond, including enemy projectiles, urchins, and certain status effects.
The Shelleport menu will now properly display total Umami Crystal count in NG+
Fixed an issue where Sinker, Sponge, and Whelk would not specify the percentage of their effect in languages besides English.
Fixed an issue where turning your shell to a hammer would give you a long parry window. (oops)
Fixed an issue where the undead Bleached King in New Game+ had no working hitboxes besides projectiles.
Fixed an issue where Wave Breaker could break cubes that can should only be broken with Mantis Punch.
Fixed YET ANOTHER issue where shells being destroyed would sometimes not properly remove bonus stats from shell-only Stowaways.

Fixed an issue where Topoda's shop could very rarely allow players to spend Umami Crystals they don't have.
Prevented the Die Instantly button from becoming available during certain important plot sequences (Opening sequence, Unfathom intro)
Fixed issues with The Consortium in NG+ where it could either fail to grant its Adaptation or level up an existing one to Lvl 2.
Fixed an issue in Flotsam Vale where a NG+ only item had replaced its default version in the base game

MAJOR FIXES
Fixed issue where entering a Moon Snail Shell with the spawned Snail Sanctum shell equipped could lock up gameplay after quitting and reloading the save.
Fixed issue where playing a Combat Memory / Trial of the Warrior could mess up dialogue flags upon returning to the main game. (The "vanishing treasure map" issue reported was a result of this)
Fixed an issue where the Consortium would not drop his Adaptation in NG+. For players who already defeated him, go back to where he was to find it on the ground.
GENERAL
Changed control prompts to fall back to keyboard when an unidentifiable "controller" is attached. Should fix a handful of issues where players saw <[inputprompt]> in place of a keyboard prompt.
Fixed an issue where Scuttling Sludge Steamroller would not have his additional friends when fought in a Combat Memory or Trial in NG+.
Snapbandit Deadeye Museum Exhibit will also be visible after defeating Topoda, as a failsafe for those who killed the Deadeye before the update launched.
Royal Shellsplitter no longer drops its NG+ reward in New Game.
Fixed an issue where fishing the Molted King while he's midair would make him unfishable for some duration afterwards.
Fixed Roland's boss drop in NG+.
Added the bonus New Game Plus boss to Combat Memories.
Fixed an issue where some Sardines have 1 HP above their intended max health
Fixed an issue where a buried treasure in the Unfathom could not be fished out.
Fixed an issue where getting grabbed while performing Twist Top would keep the hitbox active.

NEW GAME PLUS
The most highly requested feature from the community ever since we launched was New Game Plus, and the response to the game has been so overwhelming that we eventually had to do it. I'm happy to say that we cooked on this.
IMPORTANT: If you have already completed the game prior to the update, you will need to refight the final boss (SPOILERS: Firth) to activate New Game Plus. You can use the gun if you want, I won't snitch. Think of it as a warm up ;)
We didn't just lazily scale up enemy stats and call it a day, we've added new moves to bosses, some new items, and oh yeah, remixed almost every enemy encounter in the game. You'll even be able to upgrade your fork and stowaway weight even higher. Have you ever wanted FOUR stowaway slots? NG+ has FOUR stowaway slots. PLUS we've also added new exclusive stowaways for NG+, the Sigils. oOooOooOoohmysteriouswhatdotheydooooo
OUTSIDE of New Game Plus...
REFIGHT BOSSES
You'll now have the chance to go back to your favorite boss fights and get your shell handed to you through COMBAT MEMORIES. Maybe you just wanna listen to Polluted Platoon Pathfinder again, I won't judge. Re-fight any defeated boss in your playthrough from any Moon Snail Shell. Speaking of bosses...

Topoda now offers Boss Rush challenges - with a variety of themed sequential fights.

JINGLE JAM
If you haven't heard of Jingle Jam, it's a livestream charity event than happens every year during December. With already over 1 million Dollars raised, we're proud to be a part of their games collection! If you donate over £35, you'll get access to 18 Steam games. That's the price of basically buying Another Crab's Treasure Twice.
Thanks to you, we've raised roughly $70,000+ for charities this year.
(Excluding Jingle Jam) - We have managed to raise funds for ocean conservation charities such as the Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) and Sustainable Coastlines.

The content update is our big focus right now, but if you've missed our last dev logs - we're also working on our third game! That's not to say we'll be 100% done with Another Crab's Treasure though. We'll continue to monitor the game and release bug fixes over time.
This has been the biggest year for Aggro Crab yet. We released a WHOLE VIDEO GAME. We've won awards. We've raised thousands of dollars for charities. We met people from the community at events such as PAX West.
We could not have gotten this far without you.

It's Hot Crab summer.
HEY CRAB FANS - It's been a busy few months for us at Aggro Crab. We're preparing for upcoming events, tackling bugs and cooking on other projects. So let's talk about it! I'm assuming that's why you're here.
NEW GAME + CONFIRMED
just in case you missed it - I can officially confirm that we're working on a NG+. We've been taking notes of your suggestions and are hoping to share the specifics of this update soon. We mainly want to ensure we have it locked down before making any promises - including a release date. BUT IT'S COMING!! NG+ REAL.
WE'LL BE AT PAX WEST
That's right. The Crab Shack returns! This year, we'll have demo stations of not only Another Crab's Treasure, but our previous game Going Under and the one published game under our belt... Subway Midnight!
The crab shack is also supplying some merch. Including hoodies, pins and Kril plushies! and maybe more things i kinda forgot we've been popping off with our merch game.

Bug fixes and general stability across all platforms are still ongoing. We're actively checking bug reports on Steam and through our Discord. Discord is the better option for us so we can request more details and follow up with players, but we're checking both!
