ARM: Planetary Prospectors Asteroid Resource Mining
UPDATE on UPDATE Prison Mining Barge leaving the docks
Hey community, just a quick update that we are nearly ready to release the next update that has the new Prison Mining Barge along with some other improvements. The Prison Mining Barge will be undergoing some additional changes before final release and will need the communities feedback to make sure its the best possible experience. Sorry for the delay, just we had some technical and hardware issues that came up, long story about mobos burnt out and server issues.
We are also interested on what the community things about dropping the psychological horror aspect and focusing more on the core gameplay of being a survival space mining game where the player has to escape a prison barge and eventually have freedom and operate a mining fleets with your friends online, while avoiding raiders, rival mining companies and other unknown alien entities that are unlocked as the ancient xeno-archaeological digs reveals the multiverse deep dark secrets.
I would also like to remind the community that the art is not final and will be changing throughout development. That also this game will stay in early access until its reached the desired level of quality so that we can then go after some awards at shows.
Some of you maybe already playing NMS, and although there are some similarity to what we are doing being a space game that uses procedural systems. However we want to point out that we have for more differences than similarities. I do recall working on the ARM prototype in early 2014, when I saw the announcement of NMS, I was also excited to see what they could come up with and what kind of things we at NDi can learn from their mistakes, to make ARM a more entertaining survival space mining simulator.
Some say that NMS over promised and under delivered, with such things as no real multiplayer nor fully destructible planets. These are all things that we eventually plan to have, just it will take development time for us to get there.
We are still on the lookout for Senior game developers that have some similar titles behind them, were also interested in chatting with passionate juniors that are looking to make a difference and learn and work together.
Thanks again, and looking forward to your feedback.
If you have a negative review, please contact me with any requests on what we should change so that you can change your review into a positive one.

UPDATE this week! Prison Mining Barge and more!
Hey community, apologies for not being as active on the community forums or social media. We have been really busy and focused on the dev side of things, and behind an indie company that is still looking to be fully funded to complete this and future episodes to the highest level of quality. Even if it means it might take a bit longer in the long run to get the version for final release. This is every important for us to hear from the community and have feedback so we can address those issues. If our response time is slow, we will work with finding a Community Manager that will hand most of the forums.
We value and factor in all criticism and bad bugs found so we can improve the game further with each iteration. If you find bugs, please report them with the R button. Then we can track and reward points for your discoveries and suggestions. If you find bugs or something you would like fixed, please contact us first and let us know so we can fix that issue in for the next update.
Being that we are a startup indie, it would be great if we can change some of the negative reviews once the issues are fixed, if you still have problems with the game, please let us know and we will try to make it better. If your unhappy, please come talk to us first, and let us know what is wrong them we can work together and make the game kick ass.
The next update that will be out this week will include the new Prison Mining Barge, that will have players enslaved by a benevolent AI to work as asteroid miners. Then make friends with cell mates, and find a way to escape or take over the barge. The barge will also be a fortification for the player to run for protection, while being chased by pirates and other entities. Although this is not the final version we will be updating the exterior and the interiors as we complete this episode.
As for VIVE support, we had to rebuild our workstation for VR as we needed a new mobo. We will work extra hard to have at least the HMD VIVE supported in the next coming weeks as a hot fix.
Bug fixes and optimization to the asteroids, mores fixes coming in the next update along with improved Pirates and Merchant ship.
Sorry if some of the updates take a bit longer or if there is a delay in the community, as most developers are working part time, some with other full time jobs in the industry.
The next update will be ready this week, it would be a great help to test it out for us and find those bugs and make those suggestions. We need our community to shape this game into an award winning game, that we will continue to work on for years to come.

Asteroid Destruction Improvements and Mining Barge +more in next update
Greetings ARM community, at NDi we have been busy creating and building a better space flight simulator that has an optional psychological horror storyline. Procedural generation and player choices within the multiverse will further allow for near unlimited expanded universes. Eventually, we will expand our game and allow Multiplayer that can either connection with other players universes, then decided to join each other's world or even go back in time or to another dimension.
These are things that the team is working on and developing further so we can bring the best user experience possible, and open up many more possibilities.
Teaser for the next update, we will have newly optimized asteroids procedural generation and destruction. Big wins for expanding the limitations and the performance issues. Asteroids will further be worked on to provide the most fun and realistic space mining flight simulator, mix with a psychological adventure.
We are happy to finally bring in the newly designed and constructed Mining Barge, as it will play a significant role in the game, as the player will eventually use wit and hard work to find a way to freedom.
Other than that we have been fixing many of the bugs that keep coming in. Good work community team members for finding those bugs and making those suggestions.
We are bringing on a couple new developers that will help adding quality and polish, maybe even an extra feature or two. We are always interested in talking with developers who are interested in joining the team. If you want to make fun and amazing games, and have the passion and skills we can build our dreams together.
The key objective is to get ARM to finely refined Award winning game, that will be played and remembered for years to come.
Looking forward to proving you the next update and gather more feedback that we can iterate on.
Thanks Community

Update version 0.65
Apologies to the community, for the not so major update as we had to pull back on the monthly major update and were able to only add a few of the features like the newly improved MRRM, improvements to controls and physics along with hundreds of bug fixes and suggestions. The newly redesigned mining barge is near completion and we didn’t want to just put it in because of criticism of putting in incomplete work. We ran into a few snags and huddles, although we are solving them and redoing most work to improve the overall quality of the game. We are also working on improving performance so that we can have it running on PS4 and XboxOne.
Its taking us extra time and care to implement the HTC Vive controls. Many changes are being made to accompany that new controller style.
Even though we are still in early alpha, as any or all content can possibly change, only for the better, and with the help of your suggestions. We will however have a beta available for those who want to see more of that and behind the scenes development and interaction with the development community.
We really need the community to start writing reviews as we only have 16 at the moment giving us “Mixed” Reviews. It would be most excellent, if we can get back to mostly positive and eventually Overwhelming Positive would one of the goals before releasing final version 1 Episode One.
For those who write a positive review we can reveal another layer into the game like a sneak peak and chance to have feedback and input on the game.
Currently our team is in talks with other investors, grants, publishers and planning a Kickstarter. It would be great if we did some pre KickStarter marketing and share the link to this page.
You too can be part of the crew, send us your CV even if you want testing experience

It’s taking us a bit longer to finish the alpha, and we will continue development for as long as it takes.
Thanks for your support and patience, may the multiverse be with you!

Most MAJOR UPDATE coming next week!
Hello Community, we have been working hard fixing and making improvements that the community has suggested. We have received both Oculus CV1 and HTC VIVE to be supported. Along with a newly designed MRRM and mining barge, plus more and hundreds of bug fixes.
Apologies that we haven't been as active on social media or had a major update for some time as we have been restructuring and building a more solid business plan and marketing strategy as we are now addressing feedback we have received from GDC Publishers and investors.
As a reminder that we are still an indie team that has some devs working other jobs (mostly in the game developer industry) This means it's going to take us a bit longer to complete episode one, as we much rather collect more feedback and address the issues, before we have a final release. We look forward to supporting ARM indefinitely, as long as we have a community with us. We are currently talking with Publishers/investors and also accepting resumes and portfolios. They can be sent to info@nefariousdimensions dot com.
We at NDi are busy preparing for a Kickstarter, that we will use the funds to leverage some grants so we can add more features and polish.
We still need the help of the community, to be active on forums, help us with marketing by sharing on social media, and finding bugs and reporting suggestions with the report tool (Press R to capture a screenshot to send to us) We in return will want to reward our community with digital and possibly physical rewards for improving ARM Planetary Prospectors.
Looking forward to having you play the update and give more feedback.

HTC Vive Pre VR SDKs have arrived in our studio
Hello valued community members, we are happy to announce we have received both our SteamVR HTC Pre and Oculus Rift CV1 VR HMD SDKs, and will be working during the next update to make sure they are supported.
Although VR is not required to experience ARM, we highly encourage people to try in VR, as the experience is really immersive and adds layers of depth to intensity of being in space.
Reminder that since we don't have a QA team, we still relay on our community to test and find bugs, while providing feedback. When we developers have to spend time testing, it takes away from our development time.
Thanks for your support, patience and understanding, while we update and integrate the new kits and controls. To make this one of the most enjoyable VR and non-VR space FPX.
Hello ARM community, this month our dev team has been busy refining features, making improvements and optimizations. As we have a few important trade shows in the new few months. There is even new amazing art that we are excited to share and get into the next update, including a Merchant ship to trade minerals for rare items. Along with Pirates that will chase after the player and demand the cargo, or face the consequences.
Supports Oculus Rift CV1
AI improvements, behaviors and turrets attack angles.
Debris now have a fracture mesh that will split apart
Optimization and improvements for the meteor storm system
Fixes to the Upgrade system
Improved Inventory System
Improvements to particle system
VR and non-VR improvements to the UI and UX
Improved physics optimizations and realism
Improved visuals of space and stars
Hundreds of bug fixes and framerate optimizations
Next week we will complete the setup of our Vive Pre SDK to make sure the HMD is supported, and then after we will begin to work on the IR room tracking. So the player can walk around inside the jail cell.
This month we are preparing a special build that we will be showing at trade shows. We will continue to work on improving the graphics and design with a whole new redesigned Mining Barge and MRRM mining mech.
Polish and more animations are being added to make the feeling of motion more fluid.
Merchant ship AI now supports weapon systems, same as the Pirates.
Final textures and models are coming in for the Merchant ship and Pirate ship.
We are also working with some new Writers to improve the overall story and make it more character driven. Our community is welcome to participate with steering the overall storylines and direction of the story and characters.
In other news our CFO Alex Pryor will be leading the business team, as we are in discussions with investors and publisher. NDi is undergoing more organization as we will be releasing a more documented monthly Dev blog that will show our progress, and what we plan to do the following month. NDi is still hiring for a few key roles, as we look to fill some gaps in our team. We are always looking to talk with talented Artists, Programmers, Writers, Composers and other roles.
Those interested can send a CV to info@nefariousdimensions.com
We still need the community help to find bugs, and make suggestions as we shape the game for final release. We intend to keep the game in Early Access, until its ready to ship. As our goal is to strive for quality, and win some awards and receive Great ratings. We want to build our community and retain our customers so they will trust our brand and label.
Nefarious Dimensions is now an Official Oculus Developer
Our CCO Clinton Bowman attended GDC last week, and had meetings with Publishers and investors. He also met with the Head of Developer Relations at Oculus and was able to obtain an Oculus Rift Engineering SDK for the CV1.
Currently the team is working in upgrading from the DK2 to the improved CV1. Our main focus is improving the performance and fixing bugs.
Our dev team is busy working hard, so that we can have a fully functional build ready to present at PAX East.
We still need the Communities help to find and report bugs, and also share on social media. Remember we will give points for rewards, when you help in these areas.
Our marketing plan, is being worked on with a 3rd party company as we should have more coverage and marketing traction soon. We will then leverage this for getting grants, and starting a Kickstarter this summer.
We need the feedback from the fans, to make this game amazing, we really would rather keep the game in early access, than rush a game out and get a bad review. Now is the time to critique and tell us what you want changed.
Thanks for your support

UPDATE v0.55 Meet Devs at GDC and PAX East
Many crashes and Bug fixes, Thanks community for reporting them, and remember to press the R button during the game to capture a screenshot, and write a brief description of the bug or suggestions. We are tracking the reporters and Special prizes and credits will be given for reporting and sharing on social media.
This week a couple of NDi Devs will be attending GDC, if you would like to meet and discuss more about ARM PP, and work possibilities contact us at info@nefariousdimensions.com
We will also be attending PAX East in Boston at the end of April.
We are working on a new video and screenshots, since we haven't spent to much time on marketing or on the websites, that are also getting upgraded and overhauled like our graphics. That will soon be fully PBR and Direct X 12, we will still support a Direct X 11 version also. We are still awaiting Oculus support on Mac, as they currently stopped. We will continue to support the Mac in any way we can, if the bug is our fault.
Next Month we will have a new Mining Barge, and MRRM, although with many updates and fixes, based on your feedback.
Our team is undergoing some changes that will allow us to have a 6 month marketing plan, and help with some new business managers. This will in turn help us find funding and complete the game to the high level of quality and polish. We would much rather keep it in Early Access for a bit longer, and get Great reviews, rather than rush it out and get bad reviews.
We need your reviews, please give an honest one was we are currently only at 15, and we are not one of those companies that buys fake reviews. If you choose a negative review, please tell us why, and we will do everything we can to fix the problems, and hopefully you will change it to a positiveːsteamhappyː
