Arma 3 Steam sale and free Karts DLC (May 28-June 1)
Bohemia Interactive is hosting a sale on Steam for Arma 3 between May 28th and June 1st (10 AM PDT / 7 PM CEST). Additionally, we're celebrating the six-year anniversary of Arma 3's first premium DLC - Arma 3 Karts - by making it available for free for the duration of the sale. You can simply add the DLC to your Steam library via its store page and it will be yours forever.
The Arma 3 Karts DLC – a small but fun sidestep in our typically military sandbox – adds a 20hp 4-stroke engine go-kart, 5 Time Trials races, plus various assets related to karting, such as a race driver character, a motorsport marshal and starter pistol, and various plastic barriers to build your own race tracks in Arma 3's scenario editor.
https://youtu.be/cSAJdRpqltM Starting its life as an April Fools' joke, Arma 3 Karts is Arma 3's first premium downloadable content (DLC). It was released six years ago in 2014 on the 29th of May, and served as a pilot test of Arma 3's DLC 'content-licensing' technology – a new system designed to prevent a split in our game's multiplayer community between DLC owners and non-owners. After Arma 3 Karts' first million of Czech koruna in proceeds was donated to charity, it maintained its popularity and went on to become the best-selling Arma 3 DLC to date.
Moreover, you can enjoy additional bundle discounts on top of these product discounts if you pick up one of the following Arma 3 bundles (complete-your-collection) on Steam:
Grab your art supplies, tablet, or mouse – we've just announced the Arma 3 Art of War contest and are calling on you to get creative!
By taking part, you'll be helping to develop the "Arma 3 Art of War" charity DLC. This small but meaningful DLC will consist of the contest's winning entries, plus two singleplayer scenarios developed by Bohemia that will make use of the new assets. It is scheduled for release on Steam in Q4 2020 at an expected price of 2.99 USD / EUR / GBP. 100% of Bohemia's proceeds after tax from this DLC will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic and continued efforts in protecting the lives and dignity of those affected by armed conflict. After approximately 10 months of sales/fundraising, the charity DLC then becomes permanently free for all of you to enjoy.
https://youtu.be/dhMfUciqSNk As for the contest, it is open in 4 different categories; props, character accessories, character clothing – plus a special 2D artwork category in any medium on the theme of International Humanitarian Law in future conflict. If you're interested, you can learn about the challenges that new technologies present for organisations such as the ICRC here, on their website.
Or if you'd rather, you can wait for our addition to the DLC's playable content, where contest entries will be lovingly showcased and the topic explored as part of a virtual exhibition, hosted by Arma 3's very own fictional NGO, the International Development & Aid Project (IDAP). In addition, we'll also be adding a short singleplayer scenario, featuring the winning entries from the 3D asset contest categories.
Besides supporting a charitable cause, there are also a few other incentives for entering the contest, including splendid prizes. 1st place winners will have their choice of a Wacom Intuos S drawing tablet or a collection of professional Derwent art sets, plus a copy of the sumptuously illustrated book, "Art and War", a limited edition Arma 3 silver medal, a back-catalog of all our games, and an Art of War T-shirt. Runners-up will also receive a medal, our games, and the T-shirt, as well as the book with a fine collection of sketching pencils for 2nd place winners, and a handy sketching wallet for drawing on the go for 3rd. Last but not least, there's also the prestige of getting your name in Arma 3's credits and the fun of seeing your own work in-game as official content – a great addition for any portfolio!
If you'd like more information about the Arma 3 Art of War contest and DLC, be sure to check out the web page here. If you want to enter, please read through the Contest Rules, see what's available from the Contest Resources, and fill out the Submission Form in full.
The closing date for all submissions is July 15th 2020, 12am CET (GMT +1). Good luck to all of you looking to enlist!

EVALUATION
Hello Arma 3 Community!
It has been exactly one year since Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany was released. Early on we made it clear that we are dedicated to continuing our post-release support by adding more content in free, follow-up updates. To make good on this promise, last year’s 1.1 update saw the addition of more armored assets and the introduction of the Polish Army faction.
In this blog today we want to give you an outlook on the upcoming 1.2 update and highlight the new aerial units that we will be releasing as part of Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany.
“La mission est sacrée, tu l’exécutes jusqu’au bout et si besoin, en opérations, au péril de ta vie.” – The Legionnaire’s Code of Honor, Art. 6.
Bienvenue! Today we're officially releasing the Arma 3 Apex: Old Man open-world singleplayer scenario. This new scenario is free for everyone who owns the Arma 3 Apex expansion. In support of the release, Arma 3 and all of its downloadable content will also be on sale with discounts of up to 70% between April 14-21.

How to play Arma 3 Apex: Old Man?
If you already own Arma 3 and the Arma 3 Apex expansion, you just need to download the latest Arma 3 update (1.98) on Steam. Afterwards, launch the game, go to SINGLEPLAYER in the main menu, click on SCENARIOS, and select Old Man.
In Arma 3 Apex: Old Man, you assume the role of a retired Legionnaire living on the South Pacific island of Tanoa. When a new strain of malaria causes yet another humanitarian crisis, and local authorities fail to distribute an effective vaccine to the civilian population, you're tipped off about a possible plot. Together with a former military contact, you attempt to avert a catastrophic power play in the region.
The new scenario drops you into Tanoa’s 100 square kilometer tropical terrain with just a few instructions. It’s up to you to find your way around, gather intel, obtain weapons and equipment, and decide on the best tactics to accomplish objectives. While the scenario aims to offer an authentic experience, you do have access to a few convenience features, such as the option to wait and skip time, and the ability to fast travel between known safe houses.
Arma 3 Apex: Old Man provides more than 10 hours of playtime. It's released together with a free platform update for Arma 3 (1.98). This update adds new static machine gun variants and several other assets to the game, and implements various fixes and improvements. The full changelog for update 1.98 can be found on the Arma 3 website.
The beta version of the Arma 3 Apex: Old Man scenario was originally released in December last year via the Arma 3 Steam Workshop. If you helped playtest the beta version, we recommend to unsubscribe from the Steam Workshop item and restart the scenario to avoid compatibility issues.
