Armor Clash Beta 0.94: Improved UI, 2 new maps



New Map
Lost Harbor, Black Gold.

New Unit
Lav-25: APC that can carry 8 infantries.
TOS: MLRS unit with heavy armor.

Features
Improved UI: Relay point of factory is now displayed. When infantry is selected, there will be special icon for garrison buildings and vehicles.
Ability target UI: When using abilities, there will be according UI.

New Map:
War Factory: A flat, small map. Rails and oil tubes divided the industrial zone into several parts.

Remake Unit:
Hummv: A scout unit with +100% repair rate.
M1A2: A tank unit with +100% repair rate.

Feature:
Improved UI: Now there is unit information panel, with icon and descriptions of the unit and its weapons.

Improved graphic: SSAO is now implemented.




Beta 0.92 Terminator has arrived



New Map:
Overpass: A large map with 2 bridges, units can pass both on or down the bridge.

New Unit:
Terminator: A tracked firesupport unit. Using gatting gun and rocket launcher to attack both ground and air enemies.

Balance:
Tank standard fire range reduced from 60 to 50.
Resource and tower gathering rate -50%, bonus from capturing small camp increased from 750 to 1000, medium camp from 1000 to 1500.
Small and medium camp revive time increased from 3:30 to 5:00.

G-6: Howitzer that with fast speed and short prepare fire time.

New Feature:
Enhanced AI, more intelligent.

Bug Fix:
For Mac version, menu and dock do not spread out the mouse the on the top or buttom.
Easy AI now can attack player's base now.
Fixed some spelling error.

Balance:
Increase the cost of all artillery units.
Scud-B cost increased from 5000 to 6000.
M1A2 tank now have the trait of +100% repair effect.
Hummv now have the trait of +100% repair effect.

New Units:
Type-10: Main battle tank, +33% move speed.

T-14 Armata: Main battle tank, have more hp and and additional rocket launcher, the rocket can attack both ground and air units.

Scud-B: Superweapon, launch a gaint missile to the target ground and make massive destruction. Once the player captured a high level mercenary camp, he will get a Scud-B for free and unlock it in the war factory.

New Feature:
Classic top down camera can be selected on option menu.

Hotkey can be defined on option menu.

High level mercenary camp: Special mercenary camp that only can be captured 8 minutes after the game start, and with the strongest guards. Once been captured, it will send a free Scud-B and 2000 resource to the player, and it can not be revived as other mercenary camps.






1 man + 1 year + Unity = my first RTS game: Armor Clash

By using the Unity 5 game engine and its asset store. I made my first RTS game: Armor Clash, within 1 year. Now its beta version is available on Steam.

20 years ago, at the great age of RTS game, I was still in school and dreamed of making my own RTS game one day. The dream is sweet, but when I really decide to do it, I feel it is impossible. Like many others indie developers, I can do some coding work but lack in art skill. Forming a team need influence and funds, which I am also in short of.

It is in 2013 I know Unity first time from a forum, at first I did not care much because I thought it is just a SDK like many other programming tools, till I found there is the asset store, I can get model and sound assets at a reasonable price, even I can find solutions like dynamic water, mini radar and vehicle system. I realized that if I bought all the works I can not do, I can make the game just by my self.

Then I began to learn Unity by sparing time. and after made a small demo I had enough confidence and resigned my job. Although there are plenty of art assets available, it still cost me much time on modifying to meet my needs, new ideas came out before implementing old ones, the developing work is still not easy.

After 14 month's work, it is now 90% finished and goes into beta phase. I will keep updating this game with new ideas and the latest technology of Unity engine.

Scud Launcher ready for battle



In the coming Beta 0,9, which is a big milestone of Armor Clash, there will be a new unit class: Super Weapon.

The super weapon unit can deal massive destruction to ground enemies. Compared with Artillery class, the super weapon unit not only need Tier-3 tech building, but also need player to capture at least one super level mercenary camp.

This kind of new camp is opened on 8:30 after game started, and can not be revived. This is the highest level mercenary camp, with 5 guard units. By capturing it player will get 2000 resource and a free super weapon, and then player can make super weapon unit in the factory.







Super Weapon will be in the next version



As the biggest milestone this year, Beta 0.90 contains many exciting new features.

New Map
Urban Combat 2: There is a basin in the center. Slums and constructions spreads along the road.

New Units:
Warrior: A tracked APC, with heavy armor and high HP, but can not attack air targets.

Challenger 2: A tank that +30% HP.

Stormer: Fire medium range rockets to both air and ground units, with a long reload time.

AS-90: Howitzer unit, fire at long range and with high accuracy, but need time to prepare before firing.

Rocket Infantry: Infantry can attack both air and ground units, not efficient to other enemy infantries.

Commando: Need to unlock the command ability "Special Force" first. Commando can kill other normal infantries with one shot, when attacking vehicles or buildings, commado use laser to aim the target for a short time, then air force will be automatically called to hit the target.

Features:
Enhanced lighting: Environment lighting effect are improved.
Tree: There is trees on the new map, with the effect that leaves can be waved by winds

Balance
Gepard: HP reduced from 800 to 700.
Infantry: Each shell's damage reduced from 30 to 15.
Su-25 Strike: Each bomb's damage increased from 150 to 200.

Bug Fix
Some weapon's fire sound spreads at correct range.
