Challenger 2 Streetfighter II

The Streetfighter II is an upgrade program to overhaul the venerable Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank for the conditions of modern battlefields, especially urban combat. It features a number of improvements and extra components, most notably a dozer blade, a Brimstone ATGM twin launcher and an advanced camera system by Elbit. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Challenger 2 Streetfighter is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank. Its main advantages include excellent frontal armor (enhanced by the presence of its dozer blade covering its lower frontal plate), increased ramming damage and long range lethality, courtesy of a powerful ATGM launcher. Whether you desire to bring the fighting up close or support other MBTs at distance, the Streetfighter’s got your back.

The Challenger 2 Streetfighter II Tier 10 Premium MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

Leclerc T40

Sometimes called the French Terminator, this vehicle was designed on the Leclerc MBT chassis with one purpose in mind – to accompany tanks and fight off infantry attacks the same way as the Russian BMPT series does. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Leclerc T40 is a Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer. It offers you a combination of a durable hull, rapid-fire 40mm automatic cannon and, most importantly, the Javelin missile system. Simply right-click the target, wait until it becomes locket and fire the Javelin ATGM – it will home itself on the target, attacking its weak roof armor. Thanks to this ability, the Leclerc T40 is one of the most destructive vehicles in the game.

Leopard 2 Revolution

The Leopard 2 Revolution is a continuation of the older Evolution upgrade, intended to improve the performance of the older variants of the Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank in order to make it excel even on the battlefields of the 21st century. The improvements include a comprehensive armor upgrade, ROSY soft-kill APS and smoke grenade launchers as well as an entire suite of cutting edge electronics. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Leopard 2 Revolution is a Tier 8 Main Battle Tank. It is not only well-armored, it also features an extremely accurate 120mm gun with advanced ammunition, allowing it to destroy its opponents at very long ranges, rivaling those of Tank Destroyers. The German tanks in general perform best at longer ranges and the Revolution is no exception.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Marder 2

The Marder 2 was an experimental German IFV, developed in the late 1980s to replace the aging Marder IFV. It featured more armor, a new turret and a brand-new Rheinmetall dual-caliber autocannon that could fire both 35mm and 50mm rounds. Despite its qualities, the vehicle was never accepted in service due to its high cost and because it was no longer needed because of the fall of the Soviet Union. A single surviving prototype can be found today in the Koblenz military collection. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Marder 2 is a Tier 8 Armored Fighting Vehicle. With its 44 tons, it’s one of the heaviest and toughest AFVs around. Unlike many other AFVs of its Tier, it is not armed with guided missiles, relying instead on its extremely powerful 50mm autocannon. This vehicle can also deploy Mechanized Infantry.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

AMX-10 RCR

The AMX 10 RCR is the updated variant of the French AMX 10 RC fire support vehicle by GIAT, originally developed in the early 1980s. This light and nimble wheeled 6x6 AFV was armed with a 105mm gun, allowing it to knock out even armored targets at considerable distances. Over 200 of these aging vehicles were upgraded by Nexter in 2010 with improved armor and electronics, enabling them to fulfill modern battlefield tasks until their eventual replacement by the Jaguar. You can learn more about its history in our dedicated article!

In Armored Warfare, the AMX 10 RCR is a Tier 8 wheeled Premium Tank Destroyer. It’s incredibly agile with its wheeled chassis allowing it to outrun pretty much any enemy on the battlefield save for the fastest AFVs. Its gun accuracy is also top notch, making this vehicle perfect for sniper-style gameplay as its thin armor can’t protect it against enemy shells at close distances. This vehicle also comes with the Hydraulic Suspension active ability.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Kampfpanzer 70

The Kampfpanzer 70 is the German sibling of the MBT-70. Back in the 1960s, the Germans and the Americans cooperated on the creation of a new, highly advanced Main Battle Tank, armed with a powerful 152mm gun and cutting edge technology. The project was a failure and the tank was never adopted for several reasons, including an extremely high price. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Kampfpanzer 70 is a Tier 6 Premium Main Battle Tank, just like the MBT-70. Although both vehicles generally look the same way, there are some differences. For one, the Kampfpanzer 70 cannot fire the Shillelagh guided missiles, but can use HE ammunition, making it truly deadly against lightly armored opponents.

In Development: Centurion AVRE

Commanders!

You’ve been waiting for a new Contract vehicle to replace the Arjun for a while now and we are finally ready to unveil it – it is the Centurion AVRE Main Battle Tank!

It’s highly likely you’re familiar with the Centurion already – either from the history books or from our game where we have the Israeli variant present as a progression vehicle. But to sum its history up – the Centurion has its roots in the end of the Second World War and the search for a multi-purpose tank. Today we’d call the concept “Main Battle Tank” but back then the British called it “Universal Tank”. It was a classic early Cold War design with steel-only armor and a rifled gun, on par with the American M48/M60 series and the Soviet T-54/55. It started with the QF 20-pounder gun and later got the famous 105mm Royal Ordnance L7.

The British used it successfully in Korea, during the Suez Crisis and on the Rhine but the fame came from its Israeli service during the 1967 Six Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War (ironically, both sides used the Centurion with the other operator being Jordan) before being phased out and partially converted to heavy APCs. One of the most famous tank commanders ever born, Zvika Greengold, commanded a Centurion.

But it wasn’t just Israel – the Centurion was used by more than a dozen other countries and saw numerous conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the Indo-Pakistani wars. The major users were also:
  • Sweden (Stridsvagn 81 and 100 series)
  • Switzerland (Panzer 55 and Panzer 57, both countries replacing it with Leopard 2 in the 1980s)
  • Canada (in service until 1978)
  • Australia (used it in the Vietnam War)
  • South Africa (the Olifant series, in service to this day)

And many others, twenty in total. The British began phasing the Centurion out of the MBT role in 1966 and finished the job in 1977, replacing it with the Chieftain MBT completely.

But that wasn’t the end of the story for the British Centurion because other, specialized variants existed as well and those would stay in service for decades longer. One of these variants was the AVRE.

AVRE stands for Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers, which implies what it was used for. It was a standard Mk.5 Centurion with its gun replaced by the L9 (later L9A1) 6.5inch (165mm) short-barrel demolition gun firing massive HESH demolition charges to devastate field fortifications and other obstacles. The charge weighed roughly 30kg, half of which was the PE4 explosive. For comparison, this roughly amounted to 6 120mm HESH rounds. The gun was fairly accurate as well, all things considered – its maximum range was roughly 1800m, at 1300m it could hit a bunker and at 730m it could hit small targets such as individual steel bars of a bridge. The gun could depress to -10 degrees and elevate to +20 degrees.

The tank weighed some 57 tons, had a crew of four and was powered by a 650hp Rolls-Royce Meteor engine. The engine was later upgraded to Rolls-Royce BL60 producing 695hp. It was a slow tank – its maximum speed was 48 km/h, but that was just theoretical. The real maximum speed was somewhere around 30 km/h on rough surfaces.

The vehicle carried a wooden fascine that would be dropped into various holes, trenches, brooks and other such obstacles in order for other armor to be able to cross them. Don’t let the mention of wood mislead you through – the fascine weighed 5 to 8 tons and could carry the weight of a tank, including the AVRE itself. Another upgrade was a hydraulic dozer blade intended to clear various obstacles and to dig emplacement on moment’s notice – in soft soil, it took only roughly 7 minutes to dig a hull-down position for another tank. The AVRE could do a lot of other things too, including towing trailers, mechanical minelayers and other engineering devices.

The design of the AVRE was approved in 1955 as a replacement for by then completely obsolete Churchill AVRE. The first prototype was built in 1957. This Centurion variant in its most basic form entered service in 1963 and stayed in it until 1992, after which it was finally phased out as well. Roughly 40 vehicles of this type were built.

The AVRE was used during Operation Motorman as a heavily armored plough – four were used on July 31, 1971 to clear the barricades erected by IRA extremists in Ulster, Northern Ireland. The guns would not be used, only the dozer blades – the use of tanks for such purposes, although a bit of an overkill, ensured that nobody would be harmed had the militia booby trapped the barricades with explosives. All the tanks that participated were withdrawn soon after.

The second and more famous use was the Gulf War – three engineering regiments (21, 23 and 32) equipped with 12 AVREs were sent to Iraq to do what they were designed to do – clear obstacles and breach enemy fortifications. Each of the regiments was attached to an armored brigade belonging to the 1st Armoured Division.

By then, the tanks were already obsolete – one of the deployed AVREs was even deployed during Operation Motorman two decades prior. The gun was also deemed unsafe to be fired from inside the tank – for it to happen the crew had to, per regulations, exit the tank and fire the gun remotely. Fortunately, the assault was so swift that armored engineers were not needed.

For the Gulf War, the Centurion was upgraded with a ROMOR ERA kit. This upgrade was done by the engineers themselves and it was believed that it made the tank resistant to any anti-tank weapons the enemy could deploy.

Unfortunately, the AVRE became famous for an accidental ammunition detonation likely caused by a crew member using a stove inside the tank, igniting petrol fumes and subsequently the ammunition. Additionally, the fire spread to another AVRE nearby. The resulting detonation basically leveled the area.

Amazingly, there were no fatalities to the incident – everyone managed to run away on time, only four men were injured (minor burns and scrapes). Embarrassingly, another Centurion AVRE exploded in a similar manner a day earlier when its mine-clearing device misfired, bringing the total loss to three tanks despite never firing a shot in anger. The only task the tanks undertook was clearing the Iraqi tank wrecks from a road in northern Iraq due to the fear of unexploded ammunition.

The Centurion AVRE was retired in 1992. It was just too obsolete at that point and too slow to keep up with the Challenger MBTs. It was replaced by the Chieftain AVRE (developed in 1989), which in turn would be replaced by the Challenger-based Trojan AVRE.

In Armored Warfare, the Centurion AVRE will be a Tier 8 Premium Main Battle Tank.

Yes, that’s right, Tier 8 – before we get to the game concept of this rather unique vehicle, let’s talk a bit about the Tier because it sounds a bit strange to have a vehicle from the 1960s so high, doesn’t it?

The core of this decision is – you, the players, or more specifically your feedback. We really wanted to introduce the AVRE into the game because it’s such an interesting vehicle. We also wanted you to have it not as a part of a Battle Path, but in an event or a Contract, which meant we’d be looking at the Tier 6 to Tier 8 bracket. Tier 6 was a relatively fine choice but we traditionally offer at least Tier 7 vehicles as a part of the Contract Mission system. The thing was, Tier 7 is not exactly popular these days based on your feedback. It’s either Tier 6 or Tier 8 that matter. Additionally:
  • The vehicle was in service during the Gulf War alongside the Challenger (we know we are stretching it but we’re creeping into the Tier 7-8 territory here)
  • The shells of the gun are simply enormous, the firepower is exceptional
  • Armored Warfare armor values are not historical but according to reputable sources, the engineers claimed that the vehicle was fairly sturdy for its day

All these factors led to the decision to introduce it for Tier 8. We hope you’ll forgive us if we make it properly awesome to play. We fully intend to make it fun.

Speaking of fun – let’s dive right into the core idea, which is to give you basically a slow, heavily armored mobile bunker with a massive gun lobbing 165mm HESH shells at the enemy. The armor itself should be able to withstand the fire from other Tier 8 guns and should be roughly as thick as that of the Al Hussein MBT. The ERA kit is the same too – the ROMOR armor is also used by Al Hussein. Note that just like in real life, the hull side panels are not ERA – they are composite armor elements. The dozer blade will also act as additional armor – just don’t expect much ramming damage here – the AVRE is way too slow for that.

And the gun – well, 165mm HESH is no joke. It’ll fire slowly but deal tremendous damage upon hit. The exact amounts are still being tuned, as is its penetration. What is sure, however, is that:
  • The shells will fly slowly so hitting moving targets at longer distances will be tough
  • The vehicle will feature excellent gun elevation and depression (-10/+20)

The downside will, of course, be the mobility – the AVRE will be very slow (34 km/h maximum speed) and sluggish. The turret will traverse fast enough for you to engage anyone circling around you but you definitely won’t be able to out-maneuver anyone, that’s for certain. And as for camouflage and view-range, well... it’s a massive steel box that levels a building with a single shot but has the optics from the 1960s. You get the meaning. As for its active abilities, we’re planning to offer two – Defense and Rapid Fire.

And that’s about it. Unlike the rather simple Osório for example, the AVRE will require some skill to play and will not be suitable for completely new players. The veterans, however, should have a lot of fun with it on the battlefield. We hope you will enjoy it and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Offer: American Firepower

Commanders!

Today we’ve prepared the following items for you:
  • MPF Tier 10 Premium Light Tank
  • Griffin 120mm Tier 8 Premium Light Tank
  • Bradley AAWS-H Tier 8 Premium Tank Destroyer
  • Stryker ADATS Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer
  • MBT-70 Tier 6 Premium Main Battle Tank
  • Rise of the Dragon Loot Crate

MPF Light Tank

The General Dynamics Light Tank prototype is one of the contenders in the U.S. Mobile Protected Firepower program to replace the Stryker platform in the fire support role for the U.S. Airborne forces. It is one of very few modern Light Tanks in existence. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the MPF is a Tier 10 Premium Light Tank. Within its class, it’s one of the heaviest and the best protected specimen with its hull protected by NERA armor capable of absorbing damage in the initial stages of battle. With its powerful 120mm gun and decent mobility, it is a decent front-line fighter, holding its own even in the thickest of fighting.

The MPF Tier 10 Premium LT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

Griffin 120mm

The Armored Warfare version of the Griffin Light Tank is based on an early 2016 tech demonstrator, intended to show the U.S. military during the AUSA 2016 conference that General Dynamics meant business. It was built as a private venture; effectively a scaled-up example of General Dynamics was capable of providing when it came to highly mobile vehicles with a lot of firepower for the U.S. airborne forces. The U.S. Army was impressed and the design has since evolved into what is generally referred to as the MPF Light Tank. You can read more about this vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Griffin 120mm is a Tier 8 Premium Light Tank and a powerful, fast machine, armed not only with its 120mm cannon, but also with special ammunition types, making it deadly at any distance. Few Tier 9 vehicles can match its sheer ferocity on the battlefield.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Bradley AAWS-H

The Bradley AAWS-H Tank Destroyer was an attempt by Loral Vought to mount four kinetic guided missiles on an extendable arm while using the Bradley IFV chassis as a platform. Kinetic missiles were cutting edge tech back in the 1980s – unlike standard ATGMs, they destroyed the target by their kinetic energy instead of a HEAT warhead, accelerating to several times the speed of sound. There was little to no defense against them, although they did have some drawbacks, which was why they were never adopted in real life. You can read more about the vehicle in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Bradley AAWS-H is a Tier 8 Premium Tank Destroyer. It’s an ATGM-based TD, carrying special kinetic missiles that actually become more effective with increasing distance to your target. It is the embodiment of a long-range missile carrier and is perfect for players who prefer sniping to close combat.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Stryker ADATS

ADATS stands for “Air Defense Anti-Tank System,” describing its purpose very well. The system is intended to engage both air and ground armored targets. It was developed in the 1980s by a Swiss company called Oerlikon-Contraves and was offered as an interesting hybrid that would be able to deal with both Soviet tanks and helicopters or attack planes. Unfortunately for it, it came too late – only Canada would actually accept it in service and the end of the Cold War meant the end to all attempts at its large-scale introduction. The ADATS missiles were quite large but, more importantly, extremely fast and were certain to be extremely destructive to any Soviet armored targets, even though this thankfully never had to be tested in real combat. The ADATS turret was offered for a wide variety of platforms and was actively installed on a vehicle that is kind of like a cousin to the Stryker, the Canadian LAV-III. In this configuration, the vehicle was called MMEV.

In Armored Warfare, Stryker ADATS is a Tier 9 Premium Tank Destroyer. It is a wheeled vehicle armed with two weapon systems – powerful long-range guided missiles and short-range unguided rockets, offering it some survivability in short range combat as well as the ability to deal tremendous damage if left to its devices.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

MBT-70

Germany and the United States cooperated in the 1960s and 70s to create the ultimate Main Battle Tank to replace the aging Patton tank series in service. The MBT-70 prototype tank was the U.S. result of the development program. It was exceptionally well armed with a 152mm gun, capable of firing guided missiles and equipped with cutting edge technology, but high costs and endless delays in development led to the cancellation of this project and the subsequent adoption of a more reasonable design – the Abrams.

In Armored Warfare, the MBT-70 is a Tier 6 Premium Main Battle Tank. Several features make it quite unique – it has a large caliber gun that, while slow to reload, delivers tremendous damage with each shot. It can also fire devastating guided missiles and while its mobility levels aren’t the best, it can devastate its opponents with well-timed shots, relying on its armor to keep it alive while it reloads. And last but not least, this vehicle has a hydraulic suspension available, allowing it to tilt its hull to improve its gun depression and elevation.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Rise of the Dragon Loot Crate

The Rise of the Dragon Loot Crate is now available. This Loot Crate contains Rise of the Dragon Battle Coins and Boosters.

  • Battle Coins are the primary currency of the Rise of the Dragon Battle Path campaign and are used to progress through it and to obtain its prizes.
  • Battle Coin Boosters are usable only during an active Battle Path and increase your Battle Coin income by 900 percent for two hours.

Please note that you have to obtain the access to a Battle Path to use both items.

Merkava Mk.2D and Israeli Bundle

The Merkava IID (also known as Mk.2D) is an advanced version of the standard Mk.2 Merkava, upgraded with a modular “Dor-Dalet” composite armor kit. It’s a tough and unyielding vehicle, featuring a number of battle-proven components such as its 105mm rifled cannon. The first version of the Merkava Mk.2 entered service in 1983 and the last vehicles were phased out in 2016 after thirty long years.

In Armored Warfare, the Merkava IID is a Tier 7 Premium Main Battle Tank. It is not equipped with an explosive reactive armor kit, but is, nevertheless, a very tough customer due to the introduction of the applique armor, allowing it to take a lot of damage. Additionally, the tank is equipped with a Ready Rack mechanism, significantly increasing the rate of fire for the first four shots.

This vehicle is also available as a part of the Israeli bundle, which contains the following items:
  • Merkava Mk.2D Tier 7 Premium MBT
  • Sinai Grey base paint
  • Israeli Experimental camouflage
  • Israeli Flag decal (free bonus)
  • Israeli Flag banner (free bonus)

The Sinai Grey base paint is based on the color commonly used by the Israeli vehicles. You can now apply it to all your Merkava MBTs for maximum realism. The camouflage, on the other hand, is an experimental one and not used in active service. It was developed in the 1980s for a series of trials, but Israel ultimately decided not to adopt it. Still, it’s a piece of history and will fit your Merkava Mk.2 MBT really well. You can read more about both in our dedicated article.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Syrian Bundle

This gorgeous Syrian camouflage was seen in the aftermath of the 1973 Yom Kippur War on a captured Syrian BMP-1 IFV and consists of sand, green and grey stripes. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

It is available as a part of the Syrian Camouflage bundle, which contains the following items:
  • Syrian camouflage
  • 14 days of Premium Time
  • 2.000 Gold
  • Syrian Flag decal (free bonus)
  • Syrian Flag banner (free bonus)

This camouflage can be installed on any vehicle that has the camouflage customization feature available and can be used in all three environments.

Clicking the link below will open the game’s launcher. Please select the Market option on the left and select Armored Warfare to access this offer.

Altay

The Altay is the result of a Turkish program to build a true indigenous MBT. After a decade of development with hundreds of millions of dollars spent, Turkey finally achieved its goal and built a tank that is roughly on par in performance with decades-old Leopard 2 variants while it still uses many foreign components, including some of its most critical systems. Nevertheless, future Altay variants are expected to feature some cutting edge components.

In Armored Warfare, the Altay is a Tier 10 Premium Main Battle Tank based on the current prototypes, but also upgraded by various hypothetical aftermarket components of the future to surpass its current capabilities and to match its assigned Tier in power. The basic tank is – gameplay-wise – a mobile sniper, much like the Leopard 2 series, relying on its mobility and the penetration of its shells rather than on its armor. There are two key features to this tank: Adjustable Suspension (tilting forward and to the side) and Hybrid Engine with its distinctive electric sound, giving the vehicle excellent mobility and agility.

The Altay Tier 10 Premium MBT is available in our Web Shop via Loot Crates. Collect 100 blueprint pieces from these crates to obtain the vehicle.

Magach 7A

The Magach 7A is an early M60 series American tank, upgraded by the Israelis to meet the requirements of the 1990s battlefield, especially to combat the threat of anti-tank guided missiles that had started to find their way into the hands of various terrorist groups in the late 1980s. The most distinctive upgrade is its box-shaped extra turret armor. While well-protected, the tank was quite lethargic when it came to its mobility due to the use of its old engine, a shortcoming that was only corrected in the final evolution step of the Magach series, the Magach 7C. You can read more about it in a dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Magach 7A is a Tier 6 Premium Main Battle Tank. With its excellent gun accuracy and aiming time values, the Magach 7A is a good sniper for its class and is perfectly suitable for those players, who want to experience long-range combat but who also want to keep some level of protection and survivability instead of completely relying on mobility and camouflage. It’s a rather sluggish vehicle, but more than a match for anything that it encounters on the battlefield.

Sabre

The Sabre is an interesting British recon vehicle, assembled together from older Scorpion hulls and Fox turrets after both parts were brought to zero hour state (completely overhauled) by a company called Alvis. The resulting vehicle from the early 1990s was called Sabre and, considering it was made of decades old components, it worked fairly well as a scouting vehicle, participating in the Iraq War as well as in several peacekeeping missions. You can read more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the Tier 6 Sabre Premium Armored Fighting Vehicle is one of the deadliest vehicles on the battlefield thanks to its rather unique upward-aimed Swingfire missile launcher that allows it to fire over obstacles or while hidden, for example behind uneven terrain. While being quite difficult to master, this ability makes it a potent ambusher, especially in skilled hands.

Challenger 1 Falcon

The Falcon is an experimental turret developed in the early 2000s in Jordan as an upgrade to the Jordanian Al-Hussein (Challenger 1) Main Battle Tanks. It's a low profile turret, armed with an automatically loaded Swiss 120mm L/50 RUAG smoothbore gun, capable of firing standard NATO ammunition. The operator controls the turret from inside the vehicle's hull, significantly improving crew protection. A prototype was built and tested, but the design was never mass-produced.

In Armored Warfare, the Challenger 1 Falcon is a Tier 8 Premium Main Battle Tank. The best word to characterize this lumbering behemoth in the game is “tough” – its excellent hull armor shrugs off most shells while the damage its low profile turret takes when it is reduced by 90% thanks to the fact the crew is not located directly in it. Despite being generally very slow and sluggish, the Challenger 1 Falcon can take tremendous punishment and is ideal for the players who prefer the British Main Battle Tank play style.

Historical Skins – Germany (Leopard 2A4 Bundeswehr)

Commanders!

Starting from this autumn, we’d like to do things a little differently than we did before, try a few new things, integrate the world of Armored Warfare more into our skin and vehicle decisions (more of that later) and take new approaches to our traditional event celebrations. The final point is something we’d like to tell you more about today.

One of the most important events we celebrate every year is the German Unity Day on October 3 every year. Usually we present one new German-themed skin but this year, we’ll make it a little different. Instead of one skin, we’ll have five skins for you, representing two countries that were united in 1990 – East and West Germany. Unlike the previous ones, these skins will be available for low-Tier and mid-Tier vehicles to offer them the correct, era-appropriate appearance. Most of these vehicles haven’t received any skins before so we hope this set will provide a breath of fresh air in that regard.

Let’s start with the Bundeswehr and the Leopard 2 skin for the Leopard 2 progression MBT.

Of course, there’s no need to introduce the Leopard 2A4 – it’s one of the most common western MBTs to this day, although its days of glory are long over with more advanced Leopard 2A5 and 2A6 variants taking its place. It was used extensively by the Bundeswehr as a frontline tank with 2125 built or converted between 1985 and 1992.

The skin is based on a Leopard 2A4 belonging to the 123rd Tank Battalion (Panzerbataillon 123) stationed in Amberg. Aside from the tactical insignia and the number Black 325, the vehicle bears the symbol of the unit – a knight helmed belonging to Seyfried Schwepperman, a German knight from the 14th century. Panzerbataillon 123 was disbanded in 2004.

We hope that you’ll enjoy this skin set and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Offer: Light Tanks

Commanders!

Today we’ve prepared the following items for you:
  • MPF Tier 10 Premium Light Tank
  • ZTQ-15 Tier 9 Premium Light Tank
  • ASCOD LT-105 Tier 8 Premium Light Tank
  • VFM Mk.5 Tier 6 Premium Light Tank
  • Pile of Gold Loot Crate (with new Key mechanics)

Between September 9 and 15, 2022, the following items will be available:

ZTQ-15

The ZTQ-15 is the current most modern domestic Chinese Light Tank and is reserved for the Chinese military only with its export counterpart, VT-5, offered for export. The ZTQ-15 Light Tank is intended to be used in mountainous regions of China where standard MBTs are all but impossible to operate. You can learn more about it in our dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the ZTQ-15 is a Tier 9 Premium Light Tank. It combines excellent mobility with plenty of firepower as well as adequate protection for its Tier and vehicle class. It also features several neat elements that increase its value on the battlefield, such as its active suspension and the ability to launch guided missiles from its gun or its advanced ERA. For players who prefer fast-paced, high-risk and high-reward combat style, it’s one of the best options out there.

ASCOD LT-105

If there was a word best describing the ASCOD platform, it would be the word “international”. It was developed by the Austrians and the Spanish, adopted by the British and available with a wide range of turrets. The joint project from 1988 eventually led to a number of vehicles using the ASCOD platform, the two best-known results of which are the Austrian Ulan IFV and the Spanish Pizarro IFV. The ASCOD LT-105 was a fire support variant of the platform, offered with pretty much any turret a customer would like, including those from B1 Centauro, M1128 MGS or even a South-African one by Denel. However, after two decades of not having to found any customers, the project was terminated and by 2015-2016, it was removed from all official offers. You can learn more about it in a dedicated article.

In Armored Warfare, the ASCOD LT-105 is a Tier 8 Premium Light Tank. It is fairly unique in one aspect. It is possible to select one of the two turrets: the manned Denel turret with the GT7 gun or the Low-Profile Turret by General Dynamics with the M68 gun, known from the M1128. The first turret has better kinetic shells but fires in a normal manner, while the latter has a clip-style autoloader, balanced by worse overall characteristics of the gun.

VFM Mk.5

When it was designed, the VFM Light Tank by Vickers was expected to be a success. Produced for export, it was just what customers required – MBT-level firepower (thanks to its 105mm Royal Ordnance L7 gun) on a light, tracked and – most importantly – affordable chassis. What the designers at Vickers didn’t anticipate was the end of the Cold War, which flooded the market with surplus cheap armor, sealing the fate of this otherwise excellent vehicle.

In Armored Warfare, the VFM5 is an excellent Tier 6 Light Tank. One of the first premium vehicles introduced to the game, time has only enhanced its battlefield value. It is fast, agile and perfect representative of the Light Tank flanking play style.
