Army of Tentacles: (Not) A Cthulhu Dating Sim

patch, 9/22/2020

NEW GAME+ BENEFITS RECODE

- New flags
- New dialogue
- New pathcode

This one was fun to do. It got me thinking that maybe I should do a straight up Army of Tentacles dating sim as a full game. No RPG, no nothing. Just straight up wacky dating sim set in the AoT universe.

I mean, Halloween is coming up....

New Game+ Benefits Recoding incoming

Expect a full recode of New Game+ Benefits in next weeks patch.

All acheevs, flags, etc., will still be in game, but all saves involved with the New Game+ Benefits DLC will be invalidated. So, if you are planning on playing New Game+ Benefits, or doing a replay, I would hold off until the patch.

We're about 20% done with the recode right now, it's just a busy week. Who knows, maybe it will get done sooner.

patch, 9/11/2020

- ALTERED: Archive code in options.rpy

Source code is now accessible from the Steam folder.

- ADDED: Failsafe flags for party menu

Paper Shakespeare: The Legend of Rainbow Hollow is released!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/828760/Paper_Shakespeare_The_Legend_of_Rainbow_Hollow

I always wanted to do a self-drawn game, as well as an adventure point-and-click. Hand drawn as quick sketches, then scanned into the computer, and then re-done in the computer paint programs, this one was an experience. Not sure it's an experience I'd do again, but I'm glad that it finished.

It also was the first try at a real puzzle game, and as such, I am super interested in hearing what works and what doesn't.

The Shakespeare play that it is very thinly based on is actually five: the five "Problem Plays" of the Bard's portfolio, and it also kind of ties all of the past Stick Figure Paper Shakespeare games together.

The game uses a new, more simplistic version of Army of Tentacles' Argument System, for a combo of puzzles and word battles. We might be using this in the future, but with a version that is a bit more buffed up.

So, enjoy.

patch, 8/9/2020

- CHANGED: The code for for Cheat Mode works
- ADDED: Menu flags for the end of each Argument to make sure that the proper menu shows
- DELETED: Acheev related to Cheat Mode

Furries/Bears 2, Hamlet, and release date announcements

Announcing the final 2020 games.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1349170/Furries__Scalies__Bears_OH_MY_2_Return_to_Kale_Bay

Sequel to the first Furries/Bears, but can 100% be played as a stand-alone story.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1312380/Paper_Shakespeare_Very_Naked_Hamlet/

A silly little game where you need to know the entirety of Hamlet. It's like those learning to spell good games, but with sexytimes and Shakespeare. It was also a big back-and-forth for us, as it has text-based sex scenes baked in that go further than we've gone in a base game.

Release date changes

Paper Shakes: Date? 2 is going to launch sooner, as Furries/Bears 2 has taken priority as our late year game. This doesn't mean that it will be less of a game. We always were going for a November release date as a "LOL it's a stress-free election game during a real election", but realized that it doesn't really matter if it comes out then or not. Plus, I had an urge to deep dive into it.

Paper Shakespeare: Lizards is now 2021 due to various stressful factors that this year has brought to the team. It's a rather odd change, because it's a smaller game, but we feel that we do not want to push the issue and make it a rushed and stressed work environment for people.
