Beta for v1.5 is online



Hi guys,

As I announced last week I am working on a new update (Version 1.5) for you guys. I am not totally done with it, but I already shipped a BETA update for those who want to take an early look and maybe even want to help with the QA - getting the last bugs fixed.

How to play the BETA version?



  • Right-click Artificial Defense in your library
  • Select [B]Properties[/B] in the dropdown menu
  • Select the [B]Betas[/B] tab
  • Select [B]beta[/B] and close the properties window
  • Let the client download the update (should happen automatically)
  • Enjoy the Beta!



Changes:



  • Some new GFX effects

  • Much smaller UI scale for non-touch devices

New Update in development

Hi guys,

I am currently working on a new update, which will:

  • get rid of some minor issues, which were reported in the last weeks.
  • re-scale the UI for larger displays and higher resolutions.
  • add some new GFX effects
  • increase texture size and quality for high resolution displays
  • introduce a new summer skin and a totally new music track
  • re-balance upgrade prices and tutorial rewards
  • improve the tutorial, concerning early game experience
  • a few more (no yet confirmed) features


Most of the changes are based on your feedback. Thank you very much for helping me to make this little game better and better.

Update - Early Game Balancing



Hi guys,

This is for new players having problems with the difficulty of the game, especially after completing the tutorials and starting with the real missions – using the basic equipment.

Important: I did not change anything for the Gold difficulty players, so the game did not become easier in general, just the lower difficulty levels got an update.

Changes



Halloween Mode deactivated
The Halloween skin won't be active on new installations, but you can still activate & deactivate it in the settings. Maybe some of you prefer the dark skin over the default white one.

Tutorial RAM doubled
This means that new players will be able to unlock 2 upgrades in the Uplab after completing the 3 tutorial missions (instead of 1 item). This should help to get a better start.

Soother Challenge Changes
The Start RAM in the early Soother challenges increased. This seemed to be an issue for a minority of new players.

Impact on Creep Spawn
The lower difficulty levels (Bronze and Silver) have now a bigger impact on the ingame values like creep spawn ratio, creep speed deviation, boss spawn cooldown, start RAM amount, and much more ...

Soother
The first 3 challenges in Soother got easier. I changed the start RAM and the cookie travel speed. This was a topic for some new players, who had problems hitting the fast moving cookies and could not complete the missions because of RAM shortages.

Video Tutorials
The first System (Soother) got a video tutorial link when starting the first challenges (Get Started). This is to ensure, that the player understands the basic mechanics. I will add much more video links in the future, this is just the beginning.

Balancing


I am already working on the next patch, which will target some mid- and endgame balancing.

HALLOWEEN EDITION

This update includes a Halloween Skin, which adds some new spooky assets and an evil music track.



Important: Yes, you can deactivate the Helloween Mode in the settings if you prefer the default skin! :-)

Update to v1.0.5





Hi guys, I managed to release another quick update just before the weekend. Long story short:

NEW: Camera Rotation Toggel Button
Some players did not like the rotation of the camera. You can now just visit the ingame pause menu and disable cam rotation at any time.

Tutorial Fix - bug reported 2 days ago
Placing towers early and on certain spots could make the 3rd tutorial mission (Conquer Tutorial) impossible to complete. Fixed!

Offense Use Fix - bug reported today
Launching a weapon increased the offense-use-count - although the user was too low on RAM for a successful launch. Very annoying when trying to complete offense-use-restricted challenges. Fixed!

This update ships some new particle systems (slightly improved gfx), some new high-resolution textures, a lot of minor bug fixes and some polish concerning the overall design of the game - change list see below.

Update incl. Major Controller Fix, Engine Upgrade

Hi guys, just a few minor fixes and 1 (very) major fix:



Major Controller Fix
Some guys had problems with the controller driver on Windows 10. The game now handles different driver axis schemes and should work perfectly on Windows 10 and on older OS version. (Unity games had/have some issues with Windows 10 concerning the controller input - long story).

Engine Upgrade
I upgraded the engine to the latest version, which performs much better and gives me the option to put in a lot of cool stuff in the future.

As always, if you recognize any strange behaviour, bugs, things you don't like ... - just tell me.
