General Update - New Art, Steam Shmup Fest, and More!
Hello friends and fans, I'm sure many of you are eagerly awaiting the launch of Ascended Survivor's first episode. I did previously state that it would release in 2023, but that is looking to be very unlikely now. So much stuff has happened in my personal life that took attention away from working on AS, so that's not good.
But don't worry, good things are happening in the background! Progress on the game has been going steady, and most of the main content is finished. Episode One will release before you know it!
A new artist has also come on board the project! Sugarflow is an incredibly talented artist who has agreed to work on cutscenes and promotional material for the game. Already she's done a great job redesigning the main character.
I've also been working with another artist to remake the sprites, and they're looking amazing! More of that will be shared later.
But now, let's get to the most pressing news.
ASCENDED SURVIVOR WILL BE IN STEAM'S SHMUP FEST!
The last Steam Next Fest was such a great opportunity to grow, that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do it again! I won't be able to stream the game this time, so I've organized something else to excite you: the Ascended Survivor demo will be updated to include an additional level! Now you will be able to experience more of the game to get a feel with it.
But be warned, once the Steam Shmup Fest ends, the extra level will become unavailable, so don't miss your chance to play it!
The demo will also be updated with brand new, exciting features for you to enjoy. Including...
The game will now save your best level completion times, your best kill counts, and the lowest amount of times you died for each level!
Not only that, The game will also grade your performance, and give you a star if you manage to master a level in a particular area!
I hope these features encourage you to play the levels again and again, to find all their secrets and master each of them!

The Ascended Survivor Demo has been updated!
As stated in the title, the Ascended Survivor demo has been updated with new features and bug fixes. What are those features you may ask? well...
Bullets parried with a charged punch will now create a bigger explosion!
Your best times will now be stored and shown in the level select screen!
The Settings menu has been completely reworked, old options have been repositioned, and new options have been added!
New damage indicator effects show how much damage an attack does, both for the player and for the enemies!
Ascended Survivor now supports full thumbstick movement in-game and in menus!
A new splash screen has been added to startup, and a settings screen will allow you to change some basic settings when starting a new file!
As well as some general bug fixes to make the playing experience smoother than ever.
Progress on the full game is going smoothly. The main content is done, all that's left is to add some features that I personally want to include in the first episode. Speaking of which...
EPISODE 1: THE DOWNTECH MINES WILL BE RELEASED THIS YEAR

Ascended Survivor is participating in Steam's Next Fest!
Hello Everyone! I hope you are all doing well.
The initial launch of the Ascended Survivor demo has been rough as a brand new developer, but I'm happy with how the game turned out. Things are going well on the back end of development. The first three levels of Episode 1 are now finished, and only a few levels and polish remain before we're ready for launch!
Some of you may be wondering about the structure of the game. What will the release version look like, and how will future content be rolled out? All of these are great questions, which I will answer here.
Ascended Survivor will release with Episode 1: The Downtech Mines for $10. Three other episodes are planned, which will be released as free updates to Ascended Survivor. Any post-launch content after that point will also be completely free. Each episode will contain 4 main levels and any secret levels I feel like adding. Each episode will take place in a drastically different environment, with new enemies, mechanics, and bosses. They're packed with fun around every corner!
STEAM NEXT FEST
Ascended Survivor is also participating in Steam's Next Fest! And as a part of that, I'll be streaming gameplay of Ascended Survivor. All of the Demo's content will be shown, as well as some gameplay of the second level. If you have any questions or you just want to chat, then stop by! The current plan is to stream on Monday, February 21st at 6:00 PM EST, and Friday, February 25th at 8:00 PM EST.
