DNA & Manual Reload Update

DNA Feature

DNA are buffs you search for in-world or earn by completing missions. You evolve them from common to epic and install up to 3 of them. They are designed for you to select your playstyle. For example, a DPS soldier may use Weapon Gas Damage + Reload Speed + Range. A tank may use Player HP + Support DNA. A harvester may use Grappling range + Enemy coins DNA. A builder may use Tower Gas Damage + Tower HP DNA.

Manual Reload

Manual reload is probably the most asked for feature and we finally implemented it. Since manual reload uses both hands, thereby losing the ability to dual-wield weapons, the DPS reward must be big. So, if you manually reload your weapon, you can continuously fire your weapon, unleashing a bullet storm onto enemies. Manually reloading a weapon also tops up the magazine so you never lose ammo.

The Anti Gravity Launcher

Introducing the first weapon found in-world, the Anti-gravity launcher. While searching for DNA, there’s a 25% chance you’ll find this powerful weapon. Send the mutants to space!

Target Strong and Overcharge

Strategists can now program towers to target the strongest enemy. They also can overcharge towers. An overcharged tower gets ludicrous damage, range, and HP, until it self-destructs 45 seconds later.

Mid-air Explosions

Strategists can now explode arrows mid-air! Just upgrade you bow to rare to get rid of those pesky flying cowboys!

New Main Menu

The new main menu has a bedroom where you select a hero, a big lab, and a terminal. At the center is a spore tree that shows you the number of spores you’ve collected by completing missions. The lab features 3D weapons and storage shelves and a DNA section where you can evolve and install DNA.

Roadmap August 2023

Hi Players,

In a few weeks, Ash of Legends is getting a huge update ahead of the Steam Strategy Festival. Manual reload is probably the most asked for feature and we finally implemented it. It was tricky to balance the DPS between manually reloading and dual wielding weapons. I’m excited to show you our DNA buff feature. You collect DNA, evolve, and install them to give you meaningful buffs that can alter your playstyle. A new weapon found in-world will also be introduced.

BioFusion, the multiplayer version of Ash of Legends, will be ready for NA region playtesting in a couple of months! Please join us for both events in the coming months! You can sign up here… https://store.steampowered.com/app/2170380/BioFusion/

Roadmap February 2023

Hi Players!

For the last 8 months we have been working on 3 main features: Co-op Multiplayer, a previously unannounced DNA feature, and the new Main Menu.

Co-op Multiplayer will be a free app on Steam. I sincerely hope those who enjoy it will purchase the single-player version and get a free weapon skin to use in multiplayer. Up to 4 players per mission, you and your friends can cooperatively build your defenses and defend the spores against the horde of mutants. The first incarnation of multiplayer will include 3 scenes: Hangar, Orchard, and River, plus the mandatory Tutorial and Main menu. The other scenes from single-player may follow in future updates. In a few weeks, we plan to start multiplayer playtesting on Steam.

The DNA feature allows you to collect DNA through successful missions as well as finding them by exploring any scene. They are meant for you to modify the playstyle of the 2 heroes, think Soldier + Tank or Strategist + Support. Finding a balance for these 14-16 abilities is going to be challenging. I apologize in advance for abilities that are "broken". Hopefully, we can include the DNA feature with multiplayer playtesting in a few weeks.

We needed more space for the DNA feature so we made a new Main menu ;). This is a vast improvement from our old "table with 2D menus". The new Main menu will definitely be included in multiplayer playtesting.

In a few months, after playtesting is done, we are hoping to release all 3 features in a new multiplayer app on Steam. We will update the single-player app shortly thereafter.

Thank you for your patience. We are always trying new things to see which missions, mechanics, or options players want. Please let us know in Discord (https://discord.gg/xGE78wk).

Spitter and Spores Update

Spitter

The evil corporation replaced their grunt shooters with an army of mutant lizards. Their unique tail attack damages walls and they spit acid at you, but they have a weakness, the mind-altering spider on their backs! We replaced their health bar with damaged skin, gibs, roots, and minimal green blood for more immersion. Soon, all enemies will follow suit.

Spores

Extraterrestrial spores are the key to accelerated evolution. Protect them at all costs! The crystal shows its damage through cracks but the green health bar on top and health indicator on the wristwatch remains the same.

Roadmap May 2022

Hi Players!

In the last roadmap I mentioned a new scene was in the works. That has been delayed making way for our biggest feature yet...

Multiplayer Co-op

It was the top priority for 42% of players in our survey last year. Free alpha testing should start by the end of this year.

In a few months, we will introduce a redesigned lizard enemy with unique attack animations, a new crystal showing the spores of life to better represent the lore of the game, and damage indicators to make killing enemies a lot more satisfying!

Thank you for your patience. We are always trying new things to see which missions, mechanics, or options players want. Please let us know in Discord (https://discord.gg/xGE78wk) or Steam community (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1280290/discussions/).

The Soldier's arsenal includes loot found in-world: Freeze Grenades, Pet Hawks, and Berserk Injections!

Freeze Grenades

Freeze grenades, pets, and injections upgrade within the same mission depending how much you use them.

Roadmap October 2021

Hi Players!

We are working hard on our first major update and it's dropping in a few weeks!
Our current hero is a strategist and some of you wanted to do something while waiting for enemies to arrive. To that end, we are introducing a new playable hero focused on face-paced action. Because the play style is so different, this essentially doubles the playing hours. By the time we release the game, we promise 20+ hours of content to play through.

Also in a few weeks, we are introducing the very first pet in the game! Your pet is designed to take out those pesky flying enemies.

We are re-doing the tutorial because most of you gave us feedback on its length. This major update will address that.

We are starting to replace all the placeholder 2D assets so menus, notifications, and the unlocking ceremony will feel a lot better.

In the next few months, we will be working on a new scene for you guys which was number one in the player poll taken in June. New scenes are especially complicated by the fact we now have 2 heroes, 2 game modes, and 3 difficulty levels. A new scene also means an exciting new enemy. So, watch out for more hints in the next roadmap!

We are always trying new things to see which missions, mechanics, or options players want. Please let us know in Discord (https://discord.gg/xGE78wk) or Steam community (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1280290/discussions/).
