Major performance improvements and bug fixes! - Patch 1.7.1

Patch 1.7.1 brings with it major improvements to Atama's performance especially in the first area of the game as well as an overall reduction in file size for the game. If you experienced frame drops in the first area of the game please consider trying the game again!

Minor fixes:
-Fix a keyboard/controller menu navigation bug with the controls rebind page.
-Fix a possible audio bug in the intro.
-Fix a bug where player movement audio could continue while on the ladder if you held down a movement button.
-Fix a bug where you could trigger the shrine door opening multiple times by spam clicking.

Japanese Localization and various fixes! -- Patch 1.7.0

  • Japanese localization is out now! (Dev Commentary mode is still only English, but everything else is fully translated.)
  • Fix an issue where the audio of the Journal Archive would erroneously double, triple, quadruple, etc. up for each time that you viewed it and reloaded an area either by dying or any other way.
  • Fix an issue where an enemy could see through a window in Residential District and fly up into the wall and get stuck.
  • Fix an issue where the "It's too risky to touch the bell again" message would erroneously appear when the enemy was chasing you instead of just when it is already distracted.
  • Fix an issue where you could click the ladder before Residential multiple times and trigger the climb event multiple times in a row which could cause the game to lockup.
  • Other minor fixes.

Patch 1.06.4 -- 3D Audio improvements and various fixes

Bigger changes:

  • Improve 3D Audio in the game to fix some audio issues and make it more clear where sounds are coming from.
  • A few more changes to make the first area of the game more clear (another hint about where to use key, make the second gate a little more obvious by adding a gap between the doors, and add an extra checkpoint in case the player died after thinking they needed to re-traverse the factory district).

Small fixes:

  • Fix a bug where you could re-trigger the earlier checkpoint in Old Town after dying and re-loading at the shrine checkpoint.
  • Improve some enemy collision in Factory District and Shanty Courtyard.
  • Add an extra folding screen in a house in Residential District to make it so one patrolling enemy can't see you if you are hiding behind it.
  • Fix a situation where the Overseer would occasionally repeat the same taunt in one scenario.
  • Fix a bug where RNG audio triggers (like bell 'dings') weren't playing while remote viewing.

Patch 1.06.3 -- Cloud saving and bug fixes

Bigger changes:

  • Refactored save system to allow for Cloud Saving support which is now live! Your save file should seamlessly update to the new save system, but if you experience any save-related issues please let us know and we will try our best to resolve your situation.
  • Increase hitbox of colliders for most items and journal entries so that they are easier to select.

Small fixes:

  • Fix a bug where hitting 'J' after dying would still bring up journal and could cause various issues.
  • Slightly increase the threshold for triggering the "low FPS" warning
  • Make it so you can't interrupt/repeat the sound of the large gate in Factory District while it is still playing its sound
  • Fix an issue where the first enemy in the game could consistently do odd pathing if detected in a certain location
  • Move the spawn point in mine back so that the first enemy can't see you when you respawn (It was previously in this area but a small change unintentionally affected it)

Atama 1.06.1 Release Notes

  • Fix a small story/dev comm bug where remote viewing ambient sounds would continue if you died while viewing the last remaining enemy in an area.

  • Fix an issue where for some monitors, the proper resolution options would not be listed on settings.

Soundtrack now available!

The Atama Soundtrack by Jonny McBane is now available to purchase on Steam! In addition to all the music featured in the game, the soundtrack also contains 11 bonus tracks featuring prototype versions of many of the game's tracks.

We've also set up a bundle for the game and its soundtrack for a small discount.

Update notes for patch 1.06.0

Patch 1.06.0 introduces a few additional settings including the ability to reduce flashing from the remote viewing "eyeball" animation for those who found this bothersome, the ability to reduce the draw distance which should help performance issues on some computers in outside areas of the game, and several small fixes and improvements.

Changelist:

  • Added a setting to change the view distance. Set it to a lower quality to improve performance on low-spec machines, this should be especially effective for people who had performance issues on the outdoor segments of the game.
  • Added a setting to reduce flashing graphical effects
  • Added a setting to inverse vertical mouse input
  • Enemies can now be distracted in any state as long as they aren't already distracted or actively chasing (so, if they are returning, readjusting, or searching last known area they can be distracted)

Minor Fixes/Changes:

  • Turn down volume on some additional sound effects
  • Better placement on the number key gazing tip trigger
  • Fix a situation in Tower where a head could get caught in an aggro-loop

  • Small improvements to first scene for performance, add obstacles blocking the inaccessible stairs in Residential
  • Make it so if you attempt to open Tower door with Servants' Quarters Key it specifies that your key doesn't fit.
