Time for history: limited 64% off discount on Attentat 1942!
Hi! We don't do this often, but we just wanted to bump up the sale of Attentat 1942 that is starting now to anybody who might be into history but was still waiting.
Since the release, a lot of things happened with Attentat 1942 so let me list at least some of them: - we ported the whole game into the new engine and 4K! - we were nominated for Apple Design Awards (with the mobile version) for Social Impact, yay - the game came to Nintendo Switch, broadening the audience for stories we should never forget even more - and we released the follow-up, Svoboda 1945: Liberation to great success
Well, we were a few years younger when we got the Czech Game of the Year award in 2018.
So that's it. The discount runs for a week and it's our biggest ever. We make games to be accessible and we hope it might allow more people to dive into histories that still shape the present.
And as always, thank you for your continued support! Ondrej Charles Games
Our new game Train to Sachsenhausen is out!
Hello! We hope you are doing well, as much as possible in the circumstances. We have a new game to share! It's called Train to Sachsenhausen and it’s about student protests in Nazi-occupied Czehoslovakia. As of now it's available for free on iOS, Android as well as desktop (Itch.io).
Imagine you are 20 years old, just starting your university studies. Suddenly, history finds you in your dormitory - how do you act? Will you participate in the demonstrations? Will you manage to flee the Nazi transport headed to a concentration camp? What will you do in the face of evil? Several endings and multiple storylines await.

The game also includes a virtual museum put together by professional historians. The museum contains testimonies and memories shared by actual witnesses to that chapter in history, along with period documents and photographs.
We'll be happy if you take a look and decide to leave us your feedback or comment. Together we can make sure that events like these are never forgotten and hopefully never repeated.
Have a great rest of the day,
Ondrej

Svoboda 1945: Liberation about WW2 aftermath is released!
Hi, Ondrej from Charles Games here! It is my pleasure to announce that our long-awaited game Svoboda 1945: Liberation is now finally released! It's a follow up to Attentat 1942, taking place after the very end of World War 2, dealing with its chaotic aftermath, the rise of communism to power and other dark chapters of European history.
If you enjoyed Attentat 1942, Svoboda 1945: Liberation won't disappoint you. We pushed ourselves creatively and narratively, bringing you a game that shares the same blood type, while being different in its own way. Check it out here:
Some Attentat 1942 characters return, a cast of new ones awaits - from a German woman returning to her former home decades after being expelled, local businessman keen on reminding you of all the hardships private farmers had to face after the communist putsch, to other people who have their own views on what went down in Czech-German borderlands after World War 2.
We'll be doing a release stream later today at 19:45 so drop by and help us celebrate! Set a reminder and learn more: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1076620/view/2992064312017115328
Svoboda 1945: Liberation would have never happened without you - our dear Attentat 1942 fans who supported us all these years. So a big thank you is in order. We are happy to start a new chapter of our studio with you.
See you in Svoboda, Ondrej
Two weeks until Svoboda sale is on!
Hi! We are thrilled here at Charles Games and fully enveloped in the hectic days of the last chapter of Svoboda 1945: Liberation development! Our next game is coming in two weeks, on August 3! It is a huge step for us and a great new experience for you or your friends.
To give everybody a chance to play an award-winning Attentat 1942 (some of its heroes will return in Svoboda 1945!), we decided to discount it for a week. Now it's the best time to jump into our captivating story and get ready for things that will soon follow in Svoboda 1945: Liberation. Wishlist it now, by the way, if you have not done that yet.
We are so much looking forward to hearing what you have to say in two weeks.
Until then, take care!
Ondrej from Charles Games
Attentat 1942 is nominated for Apple Design Awards 2021!
We'll be brief as the news speaks for itself.
Attentat 1942 is the finalist of Apple Design Awards 2021 in the social impact category!
It means a lot to us since it is a testament to the fact that stories we tell in the game resonate all across the world. We are humbled and even more motivated to finish Svoboda 1945: Liberation, coming out in August!
It's also a sign of a great appreciation for the work of our art director Richard Alexander and artist Ticho 762.
The award ceremony is on June 10th. Thank you all for our support and keep your fingers crossed for us.
Check out the rest of the nominees on the official page.

Today is the 79th anniversary of the attentat on Reinhard Heydrich!
We don't often post about history here, but this anniversary is a big exception.
If you played Attentat 1942 you know how cruel the Nazi regime was. The ultimate goal of Reinhard Heydrich and other Nazi leaders was to eventually eradicate or assimilate non-germanic nations.
On May 27, 1942, Josef Gabčík and Jan Kubiš, supported by a vast resistance network, made an assassination attempt on Heydrich. After their weapon jammed, they threw an explosive in the direction of the governor's car.
Heydrich died as a result of the injury days later. Gabčík and Kubiš took their lives, surrounded by Nazis, in a crypt of the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Prague. Today, there's a memorial and a museum you can visit.
The reprisals for Heydrich's death were brutal, including Nazis razing the villages of Lidice and Ležáky to the ground, more than 1500 people were executed, and 3000 Jews were sent to concentration camps.
As you know if you talked to Málek, not everyone agrees about the legacy of the assassination.
Nevertheless, it is an important event that shaped the history of both Czechia as well as the rest of Europe.
It is a reminder of the immense bravery of those participating in anti-Nazi resistance efforts. Our game couldn't have happened without them.
Thanks for playing our games, because by doing that, you're helping us to keep those stories and events alive almost eight decades later.
