Audio Infection

Audio Infection goes free to play!

Audio Infection has been an amazing adventure for us all, but for the past couple of years we have seen that the game performed poorly on sales.

Keeping a game up to date with new technology and software is time consuming and we simply do not have that. We would rather focus on new projects and titles.

With this in mind we have decided to make Audio Infection free to play. No one is going to lose anything. The game will simply be no longer supported by the dev team starting 2023. We have newer projects and a lot more interesting things planned ahead to focus on!

We would like to take this moment to thank you all for your amazing support on this game and hopefully we gave you plenty of joy while you were shooting the infections.

Feel free to check out the latest game by RaafOritme RTX Sweeper. It is a free-to-play Minesweeper puzzle game on steroids. Not only does it feature ray-tracing, but also Minesweeper puzzles as never seen before with a story line and even a boss battle!

Summer update part C

It is finally here... Summer update part C.

This update is not only in the game, but you might have noticed that the whole store presence got overhauled (including the text) and the same applies to our social media platforms! So yes this update was technically bigger than just the game... but it was a much needed one.

In this update... a lot of things happened. Initially part C was supposed to be the smallest of the bunch, but believe it or not, it was the second largest.

A lot of things has been added but there have also been a lot of things removed... one of them being the demo. The demo was made during the beta stage of the game in early 2018. By now it looks like a complete different game and is visually a lot less pleasing with game breaking bugs in it. With this in mind we decided to keep the price of 1 USD as the permanent price.

Well this is what was updated:

  • Fixed laser weapons
  • Fixed tutorial in VR
  • Added the ability add custom tracks through a work-around
  • Added a game manual (will be added on Steam guides as well)
  • Fixed charging animations of Laser weapons and Cluster cannons
  • Added 74 brand new visual effects and removed all the old particles
  • Maximal intensity has been improved significantly
  • Tutorial weapon has been replaced with a more exciting one
  • Added toggle auto shooting for PC by pressing 1 for left and 2 for right
  • Fixed overall bloom and saturation
  • Changed text color in the preparation zone (previously known as pub)
  • Fixed transparency related bugs
  • Fixed all known and unknown bugs
  • Added camera shake for PC
  • New trailer
  • New screenshots

With the tools Valve offers us we get a lot of insight information and we know that plenty of you have spend a fair amount of time in the demo. The demo will not be removed, it will just no longer be accessible for new users. Since the demo was a free variation of the main game (and we are aware that some times it can be difficult to purchase a game), we would like to offer 1 life time a free key to the full game if you meet the requirements.
1. must have at least 10 hours in the demo version of the game.
2. must have installed the demo before the 1st of june 2020.
3. have a public profile so that we can verify it.
If you meet these requirements then feel free to mail us your steam username with a screenshot of the demo being in your library.
You can reach us at raaforitme@outlook.com
PS: the key can only be activated on the account that has the demo after being verified

Lastly, Audio Infection is on sale during the summer sale and it is quite a steal, especially with these juicy updates so make sure to grab it!

Summer update part B

As mentioned in previous update, the summer update is a massive one and was therefor divided in 2 chunks; part A and part B... well we have a surprise for you all. It will have a part C as well now.

So let's get straight to the patch notes.

For this update we have implemented the HDRP from Unity. This feature improved bloom, light and other effects significantly while it destroyed other effects (e.g. particles) completely. Therefor the update is stable but not complete.

  • Meet Spawner! An enemy that you can only encounter at 800+ multiplier. This enemy has no special trophy and is just here to increase the overall intensity for those that make it that far!
  • A brand new achievement has been added when you manage to trigger the maximal intensity possible in the game. You will have killed plenty of Spawners before making it to there!
  • A handful of new tracks have been added in order to give some variety to the music collection.
  • Major visual overhaul containing: better bloom, better lighting, better overall contrast, higher reflection quality, improved skyboxes, improved ambient lights and slightly worse performance. These apply to all levels.
  • The tutorial has been updated accordingly and has been enabled.
  • Removed camera glitch effect.
  • Laser weapon particle effect is straight up broken, weapon itself works, visuals will be fixed in update C.
  • Added volumetric spacedust in Deep Space.
  • Improved reflection in Steampunk and Neon City levels.
  • Significantly improved overall game intensity especially at higher levels with better weapons.
  • Added extra sound effects.
  • Changed text colors and image colors in order to remain visible.
  • Fixed visual representation of health for the following: Dice Jr, Mini boom and Boom Boom Twins.
  • Fixed a healthy amount of bugs.

We expect to release summer update C within 1 week time. If everything goes smooth and according to plan it can be done as early as tomorrow, if not it will be next week (worst case scenario). After all it is not a lot, but definitely important. The following will be added with summer update C.

  • A work around method to add your own tracks (will increase initial loading time).
  • High quality particle effects using the visual effects system from Unity.
  • A beautiful proper working laser gun 1 and 2.
  • Fixing certain transparency issues.
  • New store presentation.
  • Showing music + artist in every level.
  • Improving the effect once you hit maximum intensity.
  • Fixing the buttons in tutorial (they work, but you can barely see a visual difference).

That's it from us for today. Hope you all will have a blast with Audio Infection and make sure to grab it during the summer sale as it is extremely cheap right now!

PS: All these updates are free, we just want to deliver an as complete and decent looking product as possible.

Summer update part A

It is finally here! The summer update.

Back in december 2019 we started working on this update. I will just keep it brief and link you to the blog in which you can read about the update in more detail!

The list below is only about what has been changed currently in the first part of the update. Since it is a huge update that needs more testing we decided to roll out the first part. The second part will follow at best in 2 weeks.

You can find more info about the update in the blog.

Update 20/06/2019

Today we bring you our biggest update yet!
As a duo months of work went into this to ensure that the update would be as bug proof as possible as well as fixing existing bugs.

Let's get right to it.

Tutorial
The tutorial wasn't working properly and it didn't feel "finished" so we went back to the scratchboard. With this we came to the conclusion to completely revamp it. We also fixed the bug where the tutorial would make the game crash while at it. So right now we present to you a brand new and fresh looking tutorial!

Deep space
If you follow us on social media you might have seen the deep space sneak preview. It is a brand new level with amazing dynamic elements reacting to the music that you listen to. Killing enemies here will be truly an out of the world experience ;)

Steam time
Do you remember the pink fog level with some cogs and stuff? We completely revamped it to a new level called Steam Time. This level is one hell of a sight to behold, especially in VR.

Other changes/bug fixes

  • All highscores are saved properly and shown in at the jukebox
  • Multipliers no longer spawn once the track overview is shown
  • Visually updated start screen
  • All weapons are now properly aligned with the mouse (non-VR)
  • Fixed bug where Venom Viper would become immortal
  • Other minor bug fixes

We have also made a new trailer showcasing the 4 levels; all up-to-date. And Soundninja hooked us up with some brand new tracks as well!

Last but not least we would like to take moment to tell you about our future plans. We got some more levels planned to release, but that is not everything. We are planning to add new bosses (ranging from medium difficulty to extremely tough) as well as brand new weapons. With this will come a big revamp for the pub (where you can see your kills, level, xp, weapons and jukebox). This would bring in a lot new features especially for VR users.

If you could show us your support by purchasing the game and telling your friends about it, it would help is greatly. Essentially it means that we can spend more time working on the updates to roll them out at a faster pace. That being said the upcoming summer sale might just be the perfect moment for you to show your support towards us, more sales = more updates!

As always, updates and potential DLC's will remain free.

Update 11/04/2019

We have rolled out an update for both the demo and full version that fixes a few bugs.

In VR (both HTC and Oculus) the tutorial level can't be accessed anymore and instead will show a brief overview of the controls. This is permanent for the demo. Accessing the level caused a crash that a lot users recently reported. This had to do with an update from OpenVR. The full version will get a brand new tutorial in the new upcoming big update.

In non-VR the miniguns have been aligned properly with the mouse again.

The next big update is scheduled for early june. Small bug fixes might still roll out until then though.

Update 30/03/2019

Hey folks it has been a while!

We still have a lot left on our to do list to roll out. We are working on a big update in our spare time that we will roll out once we are ready. In the mean time we have a small update for you guys to enjoy.

  • Implemented haptic feedback for HTC Vive
  • Performance improvements
  • Bug fixes

The haptics are something that we have been looking forward to. The vibration in the controllers give a nice touch to the game, especially with the majority of available weapons! Try them all out and see which one you enjoy the best.

We will be looking for similar solutions for the Oculus Rift in the future. This might be added with the big update or earlier when possible.

Also, we will be having a sale next week. Make sure to grab the game for yourself, friends, family and pets as it will be quite a steal ;)

Stay tuned and happy shooting!

Small, but important quality update

As a two man army it is difficult to roll out consistent updates. But sometimes some updates are important and take priority in order to ensure the utmost quality that we can deliver towards you, our customers.

So let's get down to business.

This update was mainly orientated small but neat and necessary extra's:

  • When you meet the requirements of unlocking an upgrade/gun the gun will be shown in black. One of the requirements is having the previous version unlocked if it is an upgrade. For unlocks you only need the right level and credits.
  • The accuracy multiplier has been adjusted for the end game weapons. Only the Cluster Cannon and Laser Gun variants are affected.
  • The requirements (credits and level) per unlock/upgrade have been toned down heavily. This means that it is easier to get quickly to the sweet weapons!
  • Some small text bug fixes.

As always we hope that you will continue having a blast with Audio Infection!

Sky update

We have been working on a new update for Audio Infection. This update tackles some bugs and adds new features. With this update comes a brand new trailer which is more focused on action and shows a glimpse of the new level.

Update list:

  • Users are now able to add .ogg files to the jukebox in non-VR mode.
  • Updated demo; progression isn't saved, but lvl 1 and 2 gun are unlocked.
  • Added new level with a bunch of new assets.
  • Made menu a bit fancier than before.
  • Fixed audio bug for cluster cannon.
  • Cleaned up tutorial text wise.
  • Made game lighter in terms of gigabytes (-40%), loading time however increased (+20%).
  • Shows which track is playing in menu.
  • Added new hidden achievement.
  • Balanced some weapons and their upgrades.
  • Fixed minor bugs.
  • Last but not least, Soundninja hooked us up with some new tracks!

Head over to the discussion if you have any questions and in you are interested feel free to try the demo to get a taste about what the gameplay is like! It is still playable in both VR and non-VR.

PS: Audio Infection will be 50% off during the lunar sale 2019! Grab it while you can for quite the discount! :heartb:

Lunar Sale, updates and more!

First of all, great news! Audio Infection will participate in the upcoming lunar sale, which makes it a great opportunity to grab the game!

Other than that we have been silently working on a new update. Since it is just the two of us it takes a little bit of time, but we should be able to roll it out this week.

This new update contains:

  • A brand new level!
  • The ability to add .ogg files
  • Balancing
  • Bug fixes
  • New tracks by Soundninja

We will be adding a new trailer in a short while to showcase more of the higher level weapons, bosses and of course the new environment.

Stay tuned for more.
