Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan

The AurionVerse is coming soon... With a new Trailer

Dear Aurionics,
After a long time of silence and preparation: the AurionVerse is about to make a decisive evolution.
Since the release of Aurion LKO, we have worked in backstage to extend our universe, to clarify our vision.

We are sorry for the silence.
We are sorry if you felt abandonned.

You may not believe it, but we are still learning ourselves about the unique universe we are creating.
As you can see we changed the game description to be more suitable.
We just realised because of all your feedbacks that Aurion is a story driven game, not a beat them all and not an Action Game.

What happened since?

  • We struggled a lot to define our vision and culture for Kiroo and Aurion.
  • We struggled even more to rebuild and retrain a full team.
  • We ended the partnership (in good terms) with our publisher. So we are full indie and have more control on the community.
  • We Extented Aurion a a CrossMedia (Graphic Novel, Mobile Game)

So Where are we going from here?

  • We have a better view of what Aurion must become and we will share it with you in some days.
  • We are preparing a new game trailer you may really love.
  • Our Discord Channel is coming soon to build the rest of the Universe with you all.
  • We will also offer you some gifts we hope you will enjoy.

We will be more present for our community.
Thanks for all your supports and patience during all this time

---MADIBA Olivier (Founder & CEO Kiroo Games)

Comic News: a visual boost for Aurion Volume 2

Volume 2 and part 6 of the Aurion fantasy comic are finally available. The initiatory journey of the Kori-Odan carries on here, with more than 250 colored pages full of epic adventures, "badass" battles and existential dilemmas with a rare intensity.

This December 03, 2020, Kiro'o Games reveals the much-awaited volume 2 collector's edition of the colorful fantasy comic Aurion: The Legacy of the Kori-Odan. The release of part 6 of this fantasy comic completes volume 2, which now includes three parts (parts 4, 5 and 6). One year after the release of the first volume Aurion, Kiro'o is back with the rest of his comic, something to satisfy his entire community.

While in volume 1 the readers discovered the beginning of the saga of the Kori-Odan couple, punctuated by strong rivalries and the crisis of a military coup, in volume 2 the story highlights the candor and courage of our heroes facing the sometimes-cruel realities of life outside the cocoon of the city of Zama.

Here, the authors offer a real visual and narrative step up in the quality of their masterpiece :

  • An even more dynamic staging of the combat scenes to allow readers to easily animate each confrontation ;

  • A progression in the volume of dialogues with more reflections on human paradoxes;

  • Scenes of Afro-Fantasy sets magnified to offer to the readers more moments of contemplation ;

  • A real dive in the Nubian mythology to densify this fantasy universe of Aurion.

Aurion, a new genre of fantasy comic?

If the story of Aurion draws its inspiration from African mythology, the fact remains that in this comic strip, Kiro'o got their inspiration from Shônen manga and comics to build his genre.

Indeed, Aurion feeds on both the manga style and the comic style, and enhances itself with a certain creative freedom, coming from both the authors and the community :

  • The staging of the combat scenes, the dynamism of the movements, and even more, the exploitation of some manga tropes (disproportion of the actions, names of the technics, chibi gags etc.) all pay tribute to the manga.

  • On the other hand, in Aurion, we also find quite a number of western comic book tropes, such as color illustrations, the asymmetries of the boxes, the typical features of comic characters, or a narrative well centered on socio-cultural themes (tribalism, military coup).

"Aurion is a love letter to both manga and comic book creators out there with a touch of African ideologies." Says Willy Essombe, an artist at the studio.

From PC Game to Manga: Aurion joins the club of Trans-Media Made in Africa licenses!

Video game critics are unanimous: Aurion, the first Afro-Fantasy Action-RPG, is a masterpiece for the quality of the scenario and the story. By developing Aurion in a fantasy comic format, the goal of Kiro’o Games was clearly to:

  • Showcase this world of Afro-Fantasy to a larger community;

  • Prove to viewers and potential partners that a product made in Africa can have a future as strong as those of the big houses of global entertainment can.

Kiro'o Games has always had the medium and long term objective of becoming a capital pole of African Entertainment. Therefore, it seemed important to us to make Aurion, a cross-platform project as the universe has a huge potential,” says Yakan Dominique Lead Creative Designer of Kiro'o Games.

No African creation has ever succeeded in this challenge: to move from video games to a fantasy comic adaptation. Aurion would therefore be a strong license with a real Trans-media potential. With such a large universe, there would be enough to do even more: animated films, animated series, or even mobile games...

Moreover, an adaptation of Aurion as a mobile game is announced for the year 2021, details of this project will soon be revealed to the public.

Colored board, comic-style strokes, staging closer to Shônen for a writing oriented Seïnen African Fantasy. Aurion is definitely not a traditional Fantasy comic.

Aurion a writing that announces his anime?

An adaption into an anime is often the result of a captivating story immersed in a new and large universe. Aurion meets these conditions because if one explores only the Kori-Odan saga, the fantasy comic could be written over at least 200 chapters.

Kiro'o has already started to pre-write the other bows of the Aurionic history, which is what leads us to think that an Aurion anime could be born. The authors of Aurion are already building and cutting out the current fantasy comic as a giant storyboard of what the anime could represent.

Aurion Legacy of The Kori-Odan : Part 05 is finally available !!!

While humanity is living its darkest hours facing the Covid-19 apocalyps, we have confined ourselves to our studio to provide you with Part 5 of the Aurion comic book, more sublime than ever!

Watch the Part 5 trailer here [previewyoutube="wXudCe7FZuk;full"]

Discover an epic retelling of the first decisive battle of the Kori-Odans in exile. The opportunity for the creators of the universe to express themselves:

"Each page of Aurion is designed to offer the reader either seconds of wonder or moments of heroic emotions. This was our main goal at the studio when we worked on this part of the manga. " says Yakan Dominique Lead Creative Designer of Kiroo Games.

"Aurion is written for people who are passionate about human complexity. The duels between Aurionics are above all a battle between the paradoxal aspects of human souls. This narrative and symbolic element has been greatly deepened in this part compared to the game. "says Olivier Madiba, main author and founder of the studio.

For those who played the game, the story arc of the Bodiop forest was a "baptism of reality" (reality check) for the royal couple of Zama. This arc, which many of you had enjoyed, has been rewritten to immerse you more in the heart of the events and the action.

And if you think that's it, well, it's not! We didn't stop there!

Remember that Aurion was the 1st African-Fantasy Action-RPG in the world. By launching the Comic Book, Kiroo may have positioned itself as the initiator of something new: The Man-Kra which would mean Manga Adinkras".

The Adinkras are symbols of West Africa that describe many elements of life and they are said to have been used to create the universe of Aurion. It is still too early to say whether the
Man-Kra will end up as a separate genre (like the Korean "Manhwa"), but it will be interesting to watch.

"Visually, each comic book release serves as a "lab" for us to experiment with a new way of coloring, inking, cutting out panels and even writing. We think we're still in the infancy of what Aurion is going to become. " Says Pondy George, the studio's senior draftsman.

Kiro'o took advantage of this fifth release to make a daring move by changing the first names of these heroes for more authenticity. Enzo becomes Enkwo, Erine becomes Ewineh. Two pages, at the beginning of part 5, are dedicated to explain this choice to the readers (with humor).

Part 5 of Aurion in comics is available on Amazon and Kindle with chapters 12, 13 and 14 and 100 pages in color.

Kiroo offers chapters 0 to 9 on Mangadraft in black and white for free for those who want to discover the beginning of the saga.
