Badminton Warrior

Kickstarter Campaign Now Live

Badminton Warrior is getting closer and closer to its final release date. There are still some extra finishing touches I would like to put on the game. I'm hoping a successful Kickstarter campaign will help fund these efforts. Elements such as steam achievements and a badminton game between Ral, Mindy, Jing, and AJ would be added if the stretch goals are achieved. If you like the demo, please consider backing this project here:

Badminton Warrior Kickstarter Project

It's been over two years since I originally conceived of this idea. The whole process has been rewarding yet difficult at times. Now that it is coming towards the end, I'm not sure what to think. My wish is for Badminton Warrior to find its audience. I truly believe that for the right player, this is a really fun game. I've played it hundreds of hours, and I still enjoy it. ːsteamhappyː

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Version 4.3 Out Now (Includes End Credits and Ending)

So this update has been a long time coming. I want to thank all the early access purchasers for their patience. Without further ado here are the biggest additions:

  • An ending to the game as promised (See what happens after Ral rescues Mindy).
  • An end credits sequence (Subject to change).
  • A bonus mini game after the credits finish.

Along with these additions, there are the following adjustments to gameplay:

  • Ral now falls faster so his jumps do not feel as floaty.
  • Tennis balls fly slower and higher to make shielded tennis launchers easier to hit.
  • There are now buttons to quit out of the game in the stage select screens.
  • Multiple platform adjustments were made to make platforming slightly easier.
  • There is now an option to reset the screen resolution to its native 1920 X 1080.
  • Various bug fixes and UI elements were done.

Badminton Warrior is coming into the home stretch. If you want to make any suggestions, now is the best time to do it. I hope everyone enjoys the updates. ːsteamhappyː

Badminton Warrior Chinese New Year Edition Out Now!

Happy Chinese New Year Everybody...!

...or will it be? Someone has kidnapped the parade performers and replaced them with evil imposters. Only one kind of warrior can save the celebration now... a badminton warrior!

I am proud to announce Badminton Warrior Chinese New Year Edition. This version contains a completely new stage with firecrackers, red lanterns, dragons, and more. Enemies have been redesigned with a Chinese New Year theme to them plus an additional enemy type was created just for this level. Of course, there is also a brand new boss battle at the end with a funny twist.

Celebrate the holidays by smacking projectiles at opponents, testing your skill against new obstacles. and experiencing a lighthearted story that will put a smile on your face. I hope you enjoy this new edition!

The Chinese New Year Edition includes the original game that has sixteen levels plus a tutorial stage.

Version 2.0 Released Now!

With the new year now upon us, I thought I would start it off with an update. Sorry this took so long, but I have also been working on a Chinese New Year update that I will give more details about later this month. Still, there were so many changes to this current update, Badminton Warrior is going all the way up to version 2.0! Two of the things players requested most were for more manageable boss battles and better indications of when enemies were going to attack. With that in mind, I made the following changes:

Version 2.0

• Added animations to multiple enemies so that they telegraph their attacks better. This includes the tennis launcher, shielded tennis launcher, fly boarder, and soccer cannon.

• Added animations to multiple bosses so that they telegraph their attacks better. For example, the hockey boss now will do a quick crouch before leaping into the air. Also added animations to bosses so players can more easily tell the difference between their various attacks.

• Made certain boss attacks slower to give players more time to react. This is especially helpful in the Lollol and Ticktocker boss fights.

• Changed the frequency of certain boss attacks so that the player has more opportunities to counter attack.

• Changed menu so that if player has defeated level one or above, it will automatically select the "Continue" button instead of the "Start New Game" button.

• Changed menu so that quitting out of the eight boss levels will bring player back to the stage select screen instead of the start screen.

• Fixed a camera positioning bug in the clocktower level.

As always if you find any bugs or problems, please report them in the report bugs section, and I'll do my best to fix them as soon as possible. I tested this version pretty thoroughly, but as a one man team it is hard to discover all the issues.

Let me know your thoughts on these changes. I rely on player feedback to determine what needs to be adjusted or fixed. Hope everyone has a happy new year!

Updates and Bug Fixes Version 1.05

This update took awhile even though it doesn't seem like a big one. Many of the pixelated graphics that I used as a stand in has been replaced with higher resolution graphics. I also added more checkpoints. Details are below.

Version 1.05

• Switched out images such as the spikes, trees in the forest level, and some of the backgrounds to higher resolution graphics.

• Added more checkpoints to level one, the space stage, and the basketball stage, so players do not have to start as far back after dying.

I played through the demo and the entire game to make sure everything was working correctly. If you find something has been broken or if you discover a bug, please let me know, and I will try to fix it as soon as I can.

Have fun playing!

Updates and Bug Fixes Version 1.04

I am continually pushing out updates based on player feedback. Here are the latest ones.

Version 1.04

Updates:

• Created Lao Pi tips for the first level so players can get hints on how to beat enemies.

• Changed some of the design and enemy placements for the first level.

• Replaced some low resolution tiles with higher resolution better looking graphics.

If you have any problems or questions, let me know. I've been listening to players and making changes based on their recommendations. Be a part of the community and help shape the game!

Updates and Bug Fixes Version 1.03

Hello everyone,

I got more feedback from players and made adjustments to the game accordingly. People were still finding the bosses too difficult. I slowed them down and changed their attack frequency to ease things up. Also made the player invincible for longer. See list below for more details.

Version 1.03

Updates:

• Lengthened invincibility time so that players stay invincible for longer after being hit.

• Slowed down puck speed of hockey boss and changed skating speed again.

• Made the dodge ball boss battle easier by changing the frequency of attacks and movement speed.

Bug fixes:

• Fixed bug where music could be triggered twice at the beginning of the castle gate fight.

Updates and Bug Fixes Version 1.02

Hello to all Players,

So I received some valuable feedback from initial players and created an update to the game.

Updates:

• Made it so that when enemies are shooting directly from above, a properly timed clear shot will hit the projectile upwards. (Before, a direct shot from above would hit the player in the head no matter what).

• Shortened the delay time between when a player presses the button and when the racquet activates.

• Decreased the skating speed of the hockey boss.

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed a bug where rotation of the discuss thrown by the discuss bot was not resetting after the discuss was destroyed.
