In this update we have the introduction of AI enemies into the existing challenge modes to form the new challenge modes. This is our first foray into having AI enemies in challenge modes and we'll be watching player feedback closely so make your voice heard!
We hope you enjoy this mid-month mini update as the BCDM team work hard to bring you a much larger update coming at the end of this month!

You can read the exact changes below!
----------------------------------------- NEW CHALLENGE MODE #3 & #4 -------------------------------- A far harder version of the existing challenge modes, these new challenges include infinitely re-spawning AI enemies who will come at you again and again!
Unlike deathmatch mode, when you die the challenge is immediately ended so ignoring them is not an option.
Once defeated, the AI enemy will respawn further down the map and after a 7 second delay, will begin hunting you anew.
However, skilled players who find the first two challenge modes too easy will be able to rack up a far higher score as each AI balloon popped earns you 15 points and each kill earns you 200 points!
------------------------------------------------------- OTHER ----------------------------------------------------- We have reduced the 30 second wait after each challenge mode down to a 10 second wait as we found it too long when you just wanted to try again.
[Early Look] Challenge Mode #3 and #4!
Happy new year to all and one!
As the BCDM team work tirelessly developing the next major content update aimed for release at the end of the month, we have a quick mini-update for you!
Coming early next week, Challenge Mode #3 and #4 are being introduced into Balloon Chair Death Match. They're higher-difficulty versions of the two existing challenge modes, but with re-spawning enemies who's sole purpose is to disrupt your attempt at a high score and shoot you out the sky!
https://youtu.be/hW0o9VYv6J4
Will you try to run past them taking a few pot-shots to slow them down, or perhaps you'll fight them head-on to rack up the points their death will provide!
Either way, look forward to next week when you'll be able to play the new challenges to your heart's content!
Bots & Challenge Mode Update! - Version 0.1.200
The Bots & Challenge Mode Update is now live! We're very proud to introduce our first ever update for Balloon Chair Death Match with many many more to come!
You can read the exact changes below!
----------------------------------------- NEW DEATHMATCH BOTS -------------------------------------------
With it comes an all new bots system to either populate multiplayer games with, or to just play deathmatch solo against the AI!
To use the bots, simply go into a multiplayer game as host and press "Start game with bots". This will fill all empty player slots with bots! So if you're alone in the lobby, you'll end up playing against three bots. If you're in there with one other player, the two of you will enter a deathmatch with two bots etc..
However the "Start game" button still exists if you don't want bots in your game!
---------------------------------------- NEW CHALLENGE MODE MAP ---------------------------------------
A new challenge mode map can now be accessed via the challenge mode menu! The new map focuses far more on vertical movement and manoeuvrability, so you'll likely find it's far more challenging than the first map!
The challenge map also comes with it's own leader board, seperate to that of challenge mode #1.
---------------------------------- SCREEN RECORDING IMPROVEMENTS ---------------------------------
We've made improvements to the monitor display for Balloon Chair Death Match to make it easier to record your screen, or just make it easier for your friend to watch you play :)
On both the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift you'll now get a full field-of-view display of what the player is seeing.
Previously, the Rift showed to mirrored two-eye view, and the Vive showed a single narrow view.
We the team of Balloon Chair Death Match hope you enjoy the new update and look forward to bringing you loads of great new stuff in the new year!
Until then, have a good holiday and a happy new year!
Come'n'Play with the devs! Right now!
A load of us devs are online and playing some Balloon Chair Death Match so why not come along and join us for some sky high balloon battles!
We'll be around for the next few hours so there's plenty of gaming to get done!
Looking for Games - Using Discord
Hi all,
We've currently got a few different things going on to make multiplayer games consistent. Some focused on promoting the game to get more players in, others are more development focused like basic bots.
But until that's sorted I wanted to make it as easy as possible to schedule games with other players. One good option is to use Highdroid's thread located here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/498990/discussions/0/152391995419317272/
Another option is to use the new BCDM Discord server to speak with other players and devs to organise games. We have a channel specifically for organising games and letting other players know when you're available to play. If you already know how Discord works, you can join us here:
https://discord.gg/JwYYbk9
If you don't know how Discord works, you can think of it as a more gamer friendly version of Skype. You can download the desktop app or simply login through your web browser:
https://discordapp.com/
I've written a quick explanation on how it works below:
1. Server list. You can have multiple servers here which you switch between simply by clicking on them.
2. Text channels. These are the different areas you can chat in, similar to sub-forums. Some you will see like #public and #lookingforgames, and some you won't see because of privileges like #devchat being only for devs.
3. Voice channels. We don't currently have them set up but if there's interest, we can set up voice channels so that players can be on voice comms with each other during games too.
4. Chat area. This is where you type and talk with other players in your currently selected text channel.
5. Member list. These are all the members that are currently in the text channel you have selected. Keep in mind that you're universally 'in' all text channels that you have access to across all servers so you don't disappear from #lookingforgames when you click on #public for example.
It's actually a lot easier to understand than all of the above and you get used to it very quickly :) So whether you're looking to organise games, or just want to come hang out, come join the BCDM Discord server!
Just click on an empty server button on the left, select join server and use this URL:

Come play BCDM from 4pm UTC!
Thanks to everyone who joined us! We had two straight hours of game after game :D
