Survivors, the wait is over !
We're ecstatic to roll out Update 0.23 for Battle of Decay: Survival. This isn't just any update; it's a game-changer. Here's what's new.


  • Realism Boosted: We've added more background assets to make your environment feel even more lifelike.
  • Effects Galore: New grenade explosion effects, visual impact effects, and improved bullet effects will make every battle more intense and immersive.
  • Gameplay Enhancements: From the addition of an audio announcer and LAN mode for servers to an improved saving system and HUD, we've taken gameplay to the next level.
  • Bug Fixes: We've squashed a multitude of bugs, from animation glitches to AI spawning issues in the Bunker level. Your gameplay should now be smoother than ever.
  • Improvements All Around: Whether it's the UI, overall graphical quality, or the 'Bunker' level design, we've made enhancements across the board.



It's time to talk about the early access phase where people can finally play this game. We will engage the early access phase as soon as possible, but first there are some feature and maps to implement. For example I wanna have at least 4 levels ready (with sublevels), before I talk about the 'ea'.

What we need for enter 'early access'


Before entering 'early access', we aim to complete 4 main levels for a comprehensive testing experience. Each main level, like the Level 1 (Hospital), is divided into 3 sublevels, ensuring a gameplay duration of roughly 30 minutes per level. Thus, in the early access phase, players can expect to invest 30 minutes for each main level. While Battle of Decay: Survival is designed for quick fun, it's meant to be more than just a 5-minute distraction.

Our Progress so far


At present, our focus is on refining story elements, particularly animations. We've largely completed the Hospital Levels (Level 1), and Level 2 is about 70% finished. Overall, we're roughly at the 65% completion mark. However, this doesn't mean we're taking it easy. There's still a significant amount of work ahead. Your feedback is invaluable to us, ensuring we make the best first impression and incorporate the most desired features before launching into early access.


In the upcoming update multiple features will be added. We just need time to implement these features and them. Molotov Cocktails? Yea, sounds great, but what's about enemies and gameplay features?

Better Communication through text and voice chat



We plan to add a ping system for better communication in mulitplayer and additionally a compact chat system for players who don't wanna or just can't communicate via voice chat. Another construction side is the front steam shop page, which is not done yet.

Hey, what are these creatures over there?



But when we talk about Battle of Decay: Survival, there are more important feature which will be added in the next updates. More enemies. This is a very important change to the current game and will enhance the gameplay but also increase the difficulty of the game. The default enemies are sometimes slow and sometimes faster, but with future updates, we will add more kinds of enemies who will hunt you.

Initial Beta Updates & Community Hub

Welcome and thank you for your interest in Battle of Decay: Survival !
The games store page went online a day ago and can now be viewed by everyone.
I thank everyone for their support and feedback so far. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but together we will make the game, the store page and also the community hub successful.
I wish every beta tester a lot of fun while testing.



Battle of Decay: Survival will be released later this year (2022). The gameplay should last 10-15 minutes per sublevel. There will be three sublevels per location, so one main-level will last 20-45 minutes. If a main level has been completed, the next level will be unlocked. There will be exciting environments, a leading story and also different enemies / weapons that are adapted to each level.

Languages and other changes



There is already a new changelog for the upcoming version which includes an extension of the first level and a lot of fixes. Among other things, the damage of weapons is partly increased and the cost of certain 'merchboxes' reduced. The next update will also include changes to the gameplay with gamepads. Another point are the subtitles, which are still somewhat limited in the current version.




New images and texts in different languages were added to the store page. The images are mainly meant to act as 'Topic' separators and represent the current style of Battle of Decay: Survival.

However, all languages are in experimental stage for now, so mistakes may occur.

Battle of Decay: Survival is the first game I'm releasing on Steam and I plan to make it a small but also big game with a small little story, eastereggs etc. There are many features planned and I hope some of them can be implemented. I am very happy that the full gamepad support that will be improved in the next update works and that the game is already fun for some players. Of course there are still bugs at the moment, but without them I would have much less to do :P
