BattleBlade 2020 March Update!

Hello once again!

I've got a new update exclusively for all of you ;)

This update mainly fixes bugs but also brings some new features that people have been asking for along with it. I've also created a new trailer for the store page, this should hopefully help people see how the game has developed over time.


  • D-Pad controls for movement and menu navigation is now supported for gamepad.
  • Letting go of the jump button early will now reduce your jump height thereby allowing you to control your jumps a lot better.
  • The player is now properly knocked back and stunned after being hit by a melee attack.
  • Improved enemy animations.
  • Improved performance.
  • Vanto's rage mode should now be more consistent and less buggy.
  • And of course, a lot more!

BattleBlade 2020 Update!

Hey there! A new update has been released for BattleBlade fixing many big bugs and updating the Unity engine to the newest 2020 version. Here's a full set of patch notes!


  • Controller Input System reworked making the game playable with many more controllers.
  • Jumping improved - Double Jumps are now more powerful and jumping in general is more consistent. As well as that the animations have been improved.
  • Shadows while jumping not disappearing bug fixed.
  • IsGrounded check now allows for jumping if player is nearly touching the ground.
  • Unity Engine updated to 2020.1.0a17
  • Many more bug fixes!

BattleBlade Weather and Score Grading Update!

A brand-new little update for BattleBlade has been released!


  • Almost every arena now has weather effects or particles that cover the battlefield in relation to the arena. For example, Axku's arena now has rain that covers the map!
  • After you complete a level, you will be granted a grade in regards to how well you played. This is basically just a different way of seeing your score, although the original score version is still available.
  • ] Small bugs fixed and various other changes


This is only a small update but I believe it makes the game more fun! I will soon be making changes to the Steam Page to update the screenshots and trailer with all the new changes to the game.

BattleBlade Balance and Polish Update!

A small new update for BattleBlade has been released!


  • Endless mode now stores your high-score and displays it under the endless mode choice on versus mode!
  • New achievements! There is a new achievement for each battle of the campaign (1500 points achieved) as well as two new achievements for endless mode (10 waves survived and 20 waves survived). Expect more achievements soon!
  • Every Demon has more HP due to the recent AI changes making the game too easy, this should help out whilst still keeping the gameplay satisfying!
  • Updated the score equation in order to take difficulty into account.
  • Other changes and fixes.

BattleBlade Endless Mode Update!

A new update for BattleBlade has (finally) been released!

This update adds a new mode to the game, improves gameplay and fixes bugs!

The main addition in this update is the inclusion of Endless Mode, a new game mode available under the Versus Mode menu. This game mode is only possible to play in single player and involves testing your might against a single Demon until you lose. Think about it like the standard PVE versus mode except you only have one life and the enemy has an infinite amount! How high of a score can you get?

- Endless Mode!
- More knock-back for attacks to the player and enemies.
- Notification when the player beats their high-score.
- Enemy AI tweaks such as more Shadow Attacks and faster Demon Melee Attacks.
- Fixed many bugs!

They'll be a sale next week to celebrate this update, and I aim to have more frequent updates from this day forward :)

What's been going on with BattleBlade?

Hey!

There hasn't been many updates to BattleBlade recently and I'd thought I'd explain whats been going on with me and the game.

My life has changed a lot during these past few months, including moving where I live and going to university. As a result, I've not had much time to update the game. I am working on some changes to the game mostly relating to balance some of which are already in the game in small little updates that haven't really justified a blog post. More updates will also be coming in the future!

I've also been working on a few other games one of which is a small puzzle game which should be released by the end of next week or this week. You should be able to hear more about it on my website by then ;)

The main changes I've made recently since the last blog post include:


  • Sound effect when the player's shadow attack is ready to be unleashed.
  • A slight delay on enemy attacks to make the game slightly easier and to make the enemy's swords look more like they are actually hitting the player
  • AI changes so the Demons
  • should* no longer sit on the player's head when the player doesn't move and the Demon jumps.
  • Changes to difficulty by increasing the number of shadow attacks for most Demons.
  • More of course!

BattleBlade Difficulty Update!

Hey!

A new update for BattleBlade was released just now. I've been working to improve any problems players find, and the number one issue is the difficulty. So, with this update, i've added difficulty options to the Campaign and the Versus Mode which should hopefully help people who want an easier experience and the people who want an evil experience!

- Difficulty options for the Campaign/Versus Mode

- Footstep particles added to the player

- Transitions added to the dialogue scenes

- Better looking dialogue boxes

- The characters name now appears when you win on PVP Versus Mode

- Many bugs fixed!

BattleBlade has been released!

After a year of work, my game BattleBlade has been published to Steam!

This isn't the end of this game though, I plan to update this game with new features and bug fixes in the very near future. I plan to create a new singleplayer game mode named Endless Mode where you battle opponents endlessly until you (inevitably) lose a round. I also wish to add difficulty options and versus mode parameters so you can play around with the difficulty of the game. I'll also be adding new achievements to reward players who excel in these challenges. And of course, I'll fix any remaning bugs left in the game!
