Removing from Steam

I apologize if anyone was looking forward to updates, but I'll be removing this game from Steam. I plan on using this game as a starting point for other projects in the future, but this one isn't up to par quality wise even if I did release updates. The changes needed would be too extreme and my spare time to work on this isn't where to used to be so I won't be finishing this game. Trying to make this game has given me great knowledge with game design and I plan on making much better games in the future.

Temporarily Removing Purchase Option

For the time being I have removed the purchase option until the next update is released. The current build of the game is not up to par with where I want it to be and I don't think it's fair to sell it in it's current state. Sorry for the inconvenience! I'm working diligently to get the next release out, however, it's taking me a lot longer than I hoped. My aim is to release it this December before the holidays.

Progress Report - Melee Combat Physics

Hey! I just want to keep everyone up to date on what's being worked on at the moment.

Currently the entire game is being reworked to incorporate melee physics. This is a huge task. Every aspect of the game needs attention for this to work so it is taking some time, but once it does it'll be awesome! So far it's looking really good.

A new title scene has also been added. This is where you'll create/select your character before starting in the house.

All in game menus have been touched up. The text resolutions have been increased. Also a bug not allowing the laser pointer to interact with UI at certain angles and distances has been fixed.

I'll do my best to keep you all up to date. Very exciting stuff is on the way!

Cheers,
Ryan

Update 2.2 - Volumetric Lighting & Fog

Hey everyone. This update has some lighting improvements to give the environments another push forward. Also a few controls have been changed.

Features

  • Added volumetric lighting and fog. The lighting effects are subtle, but it's just enough to give a richer feel for little performance cost.
  • Removed run button. Running speed is always enabled for forward direction only.
  • Improved right thumbstick controls for oculus. Pressing thumbstick toggles first and third camera views. Tilting thumbstick up positions camera behind character.

Bug Fixes

  • Heartbeat sound not turning off bug fixed.

Cheers!
Ryan

Update 2.1 - Oculus Rift & WMR Support

Update 2.1 is live! Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality Headsets are now supported.

In addition this update includes a new telekinetic feature. Simply reach out your hand in the direction of a weapon and press grip to grab within a short distance.

As usual some minor bugs were found and fixed.
- Fixed rounding issues and float to double conversion issues.
- Fixed player hair not being seen on death while in first person.
- Fixed music not playing if volume setting previously set to 0%.

Enjoy!
Ryan

Oculus Rift & WMR Support Coming Soon

Lots of progress being made! On March 6th I'll be releasing an update to fully support Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. At that time I'll also be having a steam sale.

Additional features in future update:

  • Telekinesis ability so you can pick up weapons from a distance.
  • Audio settings.
  • Don't have to hold down trackpad/thumbstick to run. Press and release while moving to stay in running state. When you stop moving you return to walking state.
  • The starting house interior has been redesigned. I've added more detail and moved the character select menu to the side of the mirror so it doesn't block your view when customizing your character.

Cheers!
Ryan

Patch v2.0.2

Bug Fix
Some people were experiencing some settings automatically being set to max when accepting any changes.

Patch v2.0.1

-Stage 5 portal now loads correct stage.
-Fixed a staff that wouldn't cast spells.
-Fixed a couple bugs with starting and ending the skirmish music for enemy caves.
-Fixed player spawn positions in stage select scene.

Update v2.0.0 live!

I'm happy to announce v2.0.0 has been released! Lots of improvements in this update. It's basically a new game!

Major Changes
- Added 6 new stages.
- Game play no longer based on defeating waves of enemies. Explore each stage and find the crystals.
- Added magic selection system. Each controller has 4 spell slots. Purchase spells to fire from you hand, wand, or staff in the new magic shop.

In addition known bugs were fixed, such as the camera view messing up when changing settings. NPCs now have head and eye movement. The environment's grass was replaced to improve the look. Many other tweaks to improve the overall experience.

I hope you enjoy! A lot of work went into this. Next I'll be shifting my focus to fully support Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. I'll still be adding new features though, like a telekinetic ability to easily pick up items and in game tutorials to help you get started.

Update 2 Coming Soon

Within the next few weeks there will be some big changes and bug fixes.

  • A new magic shop has been added where you can purchase wands, staffs, and spells. You can assign spells to four spell slots on each controller.

  • Settings menu glitches have been fixed and will make it into this update.

  • Lots of other minor improvements/changes/bug fixes.
