Alpha 0.2.2 New Arcade Game and Some Changes/ Fixes

Alpha 0.2.2
Still hard at work on District 3. If you want a sneak peek check out our twitter @OuchGiverGames. When not working on the new district I’ve been polishing a few things here and there and fixing some bugs. Also it’s really been bothering me that the one arcade cabinet wasn’t playable, so I made it playable. Patch notes below.

  • NEW: New playable arcade cabinet. The final unplayable arcade cabinet “Versus” is now playable.

  • NEW: New achievement for getting 100 point in the Versus arcade game.

  • NEW: When wearing a World Police Corps hat enemies will take longer to spot you.

  • NEW: You no longer need to catch a World Police Corps hat in the air to wear it; you can also pick them up.

  • CHANGE: The alert speed skill doesn’t slow down the enemies spot speed quite as much(it was overpowered and I may need to tweak it more).

  • CHANGE: Repeatable missions are marked D1 or D2 when missions are district specific. This way you don’t need to click on the post-it to find out.

  • CHANGE: The MacMan arcade cabinet has been updated. Slower enemy bullets. Enemy collision boxes have been trimmed down. Enemies no longer damage you when flying off the map after being killed. The player now turns red when invincible after being hurt for a short time.

  • CHANGE: The Bomber arcade cabinet was updated to substantially slow down enemy vehicles.

  • CHANGE: You can now switch back to a missing person mission you accepted after canceling it to accept another mission.

  • CHANGE: Added several new tips to the loading screen.

  • CHANGE: After receiving the antibiotics, for the mission requiring them, you are informed by Arnis that you have them and it’s time to return to Winston.

  • CHANGE: Added a few cosmetic additions to the sewer base.

  • FIX: Fixed a crash that could occur when entering a basement while having a hacking, looting or any other ui open at the same time.

  • FIX: Fixed a bug that had a chance to occur during the mission requiring you to find antibiotics for Winston.

  • FIX: When hacking a vertical facing car you can now turn on and off the left and right direction arrows.

  • FIX: The text on the physical damage resist perk is now within the text box.

  • FIX: Camera beams no longer turn red when the player is in them if they have been hacked to target enemies.

Alpha 0.2.1 New Perks, New Loot and Fixes!

Alpha 0.2.1
As we continue to work on District 3 I am trying to make sure and add new content you can use now too. Kellie is finishing up some interiors and I’m still working on new assets for the forthcoming district. There is still a lot to do, including the main missions that will come along with the new district. The other thing I’ve been working on is adding more lore. At some point in the future I will be adding a lot more lore in the form of newspapers, more notes, etc. Patch notes below!

  • NEW: Perk. Select two choices from super computers instead of one. This also allows you to pick the same choice twice (half all enemy health and then half it again for instance).

  • NEW: Perk. The amount of fire from explosives is increased.

  • NEW: Perk. Sleep darts now cause enemies to betray instead of sleep.

  • NEW: Perk. Your QTD platform is automatically picked up after teleporting (This is useful if you’re using your teleport attack often).

  • NEW: Briefcase. Briefcases can be found like other loot bags. The difference is that briefcases have three extra slots for possible loot to show up and a greater chance of spawning loot in them.

  • CHANGE: When you hack turrets to target fish the turret will initially attract a nearby enemy to check on it, which will cause the turret to attack them.

  • CHANGE: I’ve added some traffic cones in the sneaking tutorial map at the beginning of the game to force players to the upper part of the map. People often seemed to think they should just barrel through the Mechs.

  • CHANGE: Missing posters in the sewer base now remain after completing the corresponding rescue mission, but they will have a green check mark.

  • CHANGE: Edited a few of the “Winston says” tips to make them easier to understand (also fixed a typo).

  • FIX: UFOs now attack when they should. Previously they wouldn’t attack if they were above a building when their sensor would be activated by the player.

  • FIX: UFO attacks should now work like regular explosions again (able to blow up doors, cars, enemies, ect).

  • FIX: Sleep darts put enemies to sleep again instead of blowing them up (I broke them last patch oops).

  • FIX: Fixed an issue caused by clicking on missing posters when the TV ui is open.

Alpha 0.2.0 Super Computers, Teleporter Gadget, New Missions and More!

Alpha 0.2.0
I’ve spent the majority of the last few weeks working on District 3, the corporate district. Kellie has finished the first set of buildings and I’ve finished a bunch of other assets for the district. We still have a ways to go, but it’s getting there fast!

While I’ve been spending most of my time working on District 3, I’ve also managed to add some really fun additions that you can play around with right away. There’s a new Super Computer that can drastically benefit your current run or get you a bunch of free loot. There’s a new Teleport gadget that can change the way you explore the maps. And then there’s a few more repeatable missions and some other miscellaneous changes. Thank you for your continued support. Patch notes below!

  • NEW: A rare “Super Computer” can now be found that will give you the option for one major boon. The computer has a small chance of spawning with a greater chance per point in luck you have. There are currently 10 boons to choose from and you will be able to choose one of three that appear. Here’s the list of possibilities:

    "Refill All Gadgets and Darts"
    "Lower Enemy Health to Half"
    "Receive 200 Scrap"
    "Refill Battery and Health"
    "Download all Door Codes”
    "Clear Fog of War"
    "Receive 200 Needs"
    "Receive 50 Scrap 50 Needs 50 Wants"
    "Receive 200 Wants"
    "Reveal Enemies on the Map"

  • NEW: Quantum Teleporting Device (QTD). I’ve added a new gadget that will allow you to set down a teleport pad on the map and teleport to it at any time. You will also be able to pick up the teleport pad and move it to a new location. To unlock the QTD you will need to complete a special mission (see below).

  • NEW: Survivor mission. After rescuing Douglas Fromm he will now have a special mission for you that will unlock a new gadget (see above).

  • NEW: Repeatable mission “Mech Invasion”. (District 2 only) A team of Mechs have come to District 2 on a ‘clean up’ mission . Dispatch the Mech Captains.

  • NEW: Repeatable mission “INFECTION”. (District 2 only) Fish men spread spores causing a rapid increase in toxic plants. Get to District 2 and clear out the Fish Men.

  • NEW: Added a Mech Captain enemy. These will be in District 3, for now you can only encounter them in the repeatable mission “Mech Invasion” in District 2.

  • NEW: Winston says. I’ve added around 40 tips to the loading screens when entering the city.

  • CHANGE: Added some more color to the mission board.

  • CHANGE: Upgraded the explosion artwork.

  • FIX: Your level in luck is now displayed properly on Winston’s computer.

Alpha 0.1.8 New Perk System is Live!

Alpha 0.1.8 The new perk system is separate from the skill system, although there are a few perks that won’t have any effect if you haven’t unlocked the appropriate skill. You can buy all available perks from Val for 50 wants apiece. You will be able to have three perks equipped at once, but they can only be swapped out in the sewer base via the skill book. This adds another level of strategy where you can swap out perks based on the mission you will be doing. Patch notes below!

  • NEW: Perk. Hacking costs half the battery points.

  • NEW: Perk. Boost through any door. If the door is locked you take damage.

  • NEW: Perk. Do five times more damage to Mechs.

  • NEW: Perk. Get double the NEEDS when looting them. (Does not include mission rewards)

  • NEW: Perk. Get double the SCRAP when looting them. (Does not include mission rewards)

  • NEW: Perk. Get double the WANTS when looting them. (Does not include mission rewards)

  • NEW: Perk. EMPs destroy turrets, cameras and damage Mechs.

  • NEW: Perk. Grenades start fires when they explode.

  • NEW: Perk. Molotovs explode as well as starting fires.

  • NEW: Perk. Infinite bottles in your inventory.

  • NEW: Perk. Boost cool down is cut in half.

  • NEW: Perk. Loose loot glows.

  • NEW: Perk. Take 20% less damage from physical attacks. (Does not include elemental attacks)

  • NEW: Perk. Sometimes grapple darts don't break when preforming actions that usually break them.

  • NEW: Perk. A compass is added to your HUD that points to the nearest enemy.

  • NEW: Perk. Hacked cars always leave a trail of flammable gas.

  • NEW: Perk. Proxy darts explode on contact.

  • CHANGE: The boost ability now boosts towards where you cursor was when you pressed the button as opposed to where your cursor is when you begin the actual boost. Basically this means boosting is easier to aim.

  • CHANGE: You no longer have to pick up the antibiotics for the story mission requiring them. They are now automatically given.

  • FIX: If you hack the brain of the final enemy on the map to betray it will no longer crash the game.

  • FIX: When you hack an enemy brain to betray it will now only explode once when contacting its target.

  • FIX: When running the “HACK – LOOT - DESTROY” mission; scrap and want amounts are now tallied based on worth instead of how many items looted.

  • FIX: Fixed a graphical glitch caused by dying when zoomed in or boosting.

  • FIX: Fixed an issue causing the trip mines to not show up in Val’s shop.

Alpha 0.1.7 New Missions, Skills, a TV for Your Base and More!

Alpha 0.1.7
New repeatable randomized mission, a TV that plays propaganda reports from the New World Order, 3 new investigations, 2 new unlockable skills and more. Patch notes below!

  • NEW: Added a TV to the sewer base. You can watch propaganda news reports from World News Now that will change based on where you are on the main story. To see all of the reports you will have to start the story over, otherwise you‘ll only see the report based on where you currently are in the story. (story mode only)

  • NEW: Added the new repeatable mission “Hack – Loot - Destroy”. This is a District 1 only mission that gives you a random list of objectives and a random reward each time.

  • NEW: Added a new survivor mission for Sabine. After completing her mission, med kits will heal 50 (instead of 20) hit points.

  • NEW: Added new investigation, “X Marks the Spot”, you can find in District 2.

  • NEW: Added new investigation, “Starved”, you can find in District 2.

  • NEW: Added new investigation, “Apple Peddler”, you can find in District 2.

  • NEW: Added the new unlockable skill for Winston “Stealth Kill Two”. The range for stealth kills with the throwing knife has 3 times the range. I also fixed stealth kills (see below in fixes).

  • NEW: Added the new unlockable skill “Drop Attack”. When dropping from a UFO onto an enemy you do major damage.

  • NEW: You can now pick up trip mines, mines and time bombs by hovering your cursor over them and holding the interact key(‘E’ by default).

  • CHANGE: The game now saves when you leave the sewer base and when you return. Previously the game only saved when you returned which was causing confusion because you may buy some stuff and unlock skills, go to town, die and everything you did in the sewer before dying wasn’t saved.

  • CHANGE: Lowered the hit points on the patrol truck that you need to blow up to get to District 2. This is the second time I've lowered it's hit points so if you were having trouble you may want to try again.

  • FIX: The stealth kills with the knife are more predictable. Enemies won’t suddenly spot you when hit by the knife ruining your stealth kill. The way it worked before required you to keep your cursor on the enemy until the knife reached them. Now the game checks if it’s going to be a stealth kill when you release the knife.

  • FIX: Fixed a bug where you would not receive the correct reward sometimes from the ”Help the Resistance” mission.

  • FIX: Fixed a bug that would spawn the resistance member in the wall of the long harbor buildings.

  • FIX: Fixed a bug causing the Poison Resist skill to increase in cost when purchasing the Stealth Kill skill.

  • FIX: The patrol truck no longer attacks when you are riding a UFO.

Alpha 0.1.6 Zoom Feature and Fixes

Alpha 0.1.6
This update was intended to just be a few fixes, but I added some small features as well. Patch notes below!

  • I’ve added a zoom function. It’s toggled with the scan key (alt by default). Most menu related interactions and boosting will zoom you back out. It’s useful when looking for loose loot in buildings. I may add more functionality to it in the future.

  • I’ve added a notice to the mission report that tells you how much scrap, needs and wants you gathered while on your mission.

  • I’ve added a few tool tips to the mission report you can hover over that explain what resources gathered and resources used is referring to.

  • Val’s bag upgrades are working properly now.

  • The patrol truck that you need to blow up to get to District 2 now has a third less hit points.

  • Fixed a bug allowing you to gain scrap, wants and needs beyond the cap (I also increased the scrap cap to 999).

  • Fixed a bug causing your needs to be replaced by your wants when completing a repeatable mission.

  • There’s a hidden opportunity to get some extra scrap in District 2 that was supposed to use up a grapple dart. It now does.

  • The ATM now drains battery to hack as intended.

Alpha 0.1.5 New District, New Missions and Much More!

Alpha 0.1.5 Patch Notes
District 2(The Harbor District) is now open to explore! To access District 2 in story mode or free play mode you must first get the submarine progress to the point where your mission report states “Missing Part”. After that point you must then procure the part by destroying a moving patrol truck and looting the part off the ground. Return to the base after looting the part and district 2 will be unlocked after talking to Winston. All repeatable missions(unless stated otherwise) can be ran in either district.

Moving on from here I will be adding more content to both districts while also working on District 3. Kellie is getting bunches of new buildings ready for District 3 and they’re looking great! While District 2 is a more organic area with less technology, District 3 will be the exact opposite. It will be a high security district with more mechs and more hackable objects. Patch notes below!

  • New procedurally generated district. Like District 1, District 2 is newly generated each time you enter.

  • Tons of new assets for District 2 including; New building exteriors, new building interiors, new cars and buses, new trees and plants and much more.

  • 6 new enemy types.

  • New story missions.

  • New investigation missions (free play and story modes).

  • New dynamic music theme for District 2.

  • New survivor mission. After rescuing Mitch you have the option to run a mission for him. You will not have access to his orders until you complete his mission.

  • New playable arcade cabinet (only playable after rescuing Mitch and completing his mission).

  • If you saved a certain bird in District 1 you may find a new friend in District 2 that will spot enemies on the map for you(only in District 2).

  • Added 8 new achievements(there’s more to come).

  • Fixed a bug causing explosions from arcade games to damage you when exiting the game during an explosion.

  • Updated the artwork on the arcade cabinets.

  • Fixed an issue preventing the spotted speed ability from saving.

  • You can now only grapple a UFO when under it.

  • The sewer exit now always spawns in the center of the street.

  • Updated the artwork for the resistance member found during the “Help the Resistance” mission.

  • Fixed an issue causing trip mine capacity to be capped at 2.

  • Fixed a bug that would start a new game with Lester already rescued when playing on slot 1 or 2.

  • Fixed a bug causing you to throw equipment when selecting a dialogue choice (I thought I fixed this last patch, but there were still some issues).

District 2. The Harbor District.

I'm planning on having District 2 ready within the next few weeks. District 2 will be the second procedurally generated district and will have a swampy harbor look and feel.

In District 2 there is no police presence, instead you are faced with occultists and former citizens of Fleece that have transformed into fishy monstrosities.

District 2 will include 4 brand new enemy types. New missions and investigations to run into while running missions. All new buildings and other assets including a new dynamic theme song for the district.

All repeatable missions will be playable in either district once you have unlocked District 2 through the main story in story mode or by getting the first unique submarine part in free play mode.

Thanks for all your support!

Alpha 0.1.4 New Repeatable Mission Type and Lots of Fixes!

Alpha 0.1.4 Patch Notes

  • New repeatable mission. The mission titled “Help the Resistance” can be found on the mission board. This repeatable mission is a little different than the others. You won’t know the reward until you finish it and you won’t know your assignment until you meet up with the resistance member in the city. Once you find the resistance member you will be given one of four assignments(more will be added later). Finish the assignment and return to the resistance member for a reward, then return to the sewer base to find out what your second reward is.

  • Fixed an issue that caused the game to crash when scrapping certain vehicles.

  • The timer has been removed. I may add some optional repeatable timed missions in the future, but (except for the intro) there’s no longer a time limit.

  • Fixed an issue which would allow enemies to see you through doors.

  • Fixed an issue causing the game to revert to full screen when returning to the main menu while in windowed mode.

  • The repeatable mission “Clear the Area” now only requires you to kill ten enemies as the description states.

  • NPC orders(reveal loot, clear fog of war, ect.) should now be working properly.

  • Fixed an issue that would cause Arnis to shoot/throw equipped items when talking to an NPC after you had already talked to them.

  • Prices in Val’s shop have been reduced.

  • Skill point costs in the skill book are now only displayed when hovering over unpurchased skills.

  • The mission report now includes the number of blue prints found and a notification if you found a missing poster while in the city.

  • Fixed an issue with the "Destroy/Hack Thermal Detectors" mission causing an enemy to not become aggressive when you say the wrong thing.

  • When remapping keys the map key will be titled “Map” instead of “Winston”.

  • Fixed an issue allowing you to save missing survivors by talking to them through locked doors.

  • Health, Battery and skill points can now be seen on the status section of Winston’s computer as well as the skills section.

  • Text above player’s head will no longer obstruct the noise indicator.

  • Graphical artifacts when in windowed mode are no longer an issue.

  • When accepting a mission from the mission board the accepted mission is no longer visible on the board.

  • Fixed an issue with the grapple gun icon not showing up in the correct place when opening your inventory near the top of the map.
