New PC update is coming!

Dear players,

we know there was no update in a while but we have been working on the game as a whole a lot!

The team has been adding, improving, and optimising many aspects in the game. Yes, it took us a while but we are now almost done and ready to share with you the new PC update. When? Within upcoming days!

What's coming?

  • Expert+ levels
  • New modifiers
  • Lights optimisation
  • New sabers
  • Practice mode
  • Optimised game performance
  • Improved graphics
  • Player statistics
  • And more!

We are now fully back on track with PC development and super excited to bring you all the stuff we have been working on lately.

In the meantime, you can watch our first Q&A stream ever. We know we are far away from any professional streamers. For sure, it was a bit awkward sometimes, but we had fun and it was great to answer your questions! In the stream, we were talking about Beat Saber, our past steps, future plans, road map, and much more (like schnitzels and stuff…:D).

WATCH THE STREAM HERE

We would like to thank you for your never ending patience and excitement. It's so amazing to see how supportive you are – even if some steps took our tiny indie game studio from Prague a little longer than expected.

ALSO: If you like Beat Saber a lot, you can nominate us in The Steam Awards – find the nomination button on our profile -> VISIT OUR PROFILE

THANK YOU and we will be back with the update within few days!

Beat Saber v0.11.2 Released

This update comes mainly to fix some important issues but also we did another refactoring of the codebase so it will make our job easier for the future.

  • Fixed critical bug when sound effects were not properly recycled which could sometimes cause performance problems or even crashes on some systems.
  • Fixed volume settings which were reset to default when restarting the game.
  • Fixed continuous rumble in haptics system.
  • Fixed losing combo when getting head into obstacle while paused.
  • Added animation to side screens.
  • Added full release notes.
  • Added health and safety warning.

Beat Saber v0.11.1 Released

This minor update of Beat Saber adds Angel Voices by Virtual Self as a new track into the game and it is now available by default from the start. No need to "unlock" it by finding an Easter egg anymore.

Additionally we also fixed incorrect BPM for $100 Bills level in One Saber mode which made it look like it ended in the middle of the level.

PS.: If you were running mods and are now having issues we would like to inform you that all currently available mods are not official (not made by us) so we can't really help you when they stop working and we can't provide much support. It is because every mod right now is more like a hack to the game because Beat Saber never provided a way to be properly moddable like you may know from other games. Please contact authors of your mods to provide the support and please wait until they update them for the current version. We will also try to help with this as much as possible.

Thank you.

Beat Saber v0.11.0 Released

Not only we added an easter egg with the new exclusive track. Also, we did some bug fixing and added some stuff. Additionally we did heavy refactoring of almost everything inside.

  • Settings for how in-game menu can be triggered added (instantly or long press)
  • Volume settings added
  • Swap Colors settings added
  • Static Lights gameplay options added
  • No Obstacles gameplay options added
  • "Cut in any direction" tutorial voiceover and text added
  • Fixed simultaneous vibration of both Oculus Touch controllers (only with -vrmode oculus)
  • Fixed calculation of maximum possible score
  • Fixed bug where you can spawn too far from the platform
  • Legendary Hardcore Flying Car!

Enjoy!

Beat Saber v0.11.0 Released - Easter Egg

🎁 We just hid an easter egg with the very first exclusive track somewhere in Beat Saber!

Beat Saber Multiplayer

Great news! A member of our community - @umbranoxus (on Twitter) will be helping us with Multiplayer development for Beat Saber. We'll start to work on Multiplayer after releasing Level Editor. Development of Beat Saber for PS VR will continue simultaneously.

First version of Beat Saber Multiplayer will be very basic, but we plan to continue with further development. First version will be a competitive realtime multiplayer, where players compete against each other to get the best score on a specific level.

Avatars of other players will be placed on player's left and right side. First version will contain default avatars, we plan to add custom avatars later. We're now considering how to represent cubes coming at the opponent player.

Meanwhile at Beat Saber

We’ve been a bit silent about upcoming updates in the game lately. Let's talk!

There are so many challenges you have to deal with when releasing such a hyped game title [spoiler alert: then challenges grow even exponentially]. Many times you can’t share any exciting news before it’s official, so it might look like you and the team are already gone to Bahamas [spoiler alert 2: we’re not].
Anyway, let's find out what we’ve been working on since the release.

Few months and weeks before an official Beat Saber release, we experienced a very intense push from VR community. We announced an official release date for Early Access version but we knew the game won’t be as perfect as we want. Postpone the release was complete nonsense, only way was to push harder and deliver Beat Saber on time.

We were so grateful for all the positive buzz around the game, but the pressure was insane. None of us ever experienced this before. Just incredible. People were tweeting, sharing and talking about Beat Saber and we had to be sure we deliver the best game possible only in the team of three people. On release day, the game in Early Access was working properly, but we were aware of a few smaller issues in code, which needed to be solved. We decided to release Beat Saber anyway.

And it was huge! The community and the whole VR world was amazed by the game and we knew we have to work hard to make it even better. We decided to get back to those problematic parts of the code and rewrite them. Soon realising it would need a whole refactoring of UI and editor code. To be honest, refactoring took us much longer than we expected and it still requires some more work. But the good thing is that from now on, it will be much easier for us to implement new features or deploy updates and make edits. Now we can focus only on a new content.

Here is only a fragment of what we have been working on so far:

  • Level Editor  — we knew for sure it has to work perfectly and look good. With the whole refactoring thing, not that easy tho.
  • Exclusive music content — truly one of our biggest challenges. We’re in touch with several global music labels, looking for fresh new artists. And since Beat Saber became a music platform itself, we decided to found our own music label.
  • LBE licenses — yes, if you want to offer your game to VR arcades, you have to take care of this aspect. Easy task? You bet it’s not!
  • PS VR demo for E3 — huge announcement we couldn’t be more excited about. Since it was top secret, we couldn’t share anything ahead. It required a lot of work and resources. Huge challenge!
  • There were conferences and many other events we had to attend.
  • And million smaller stuff. When the buzz exploded, we had to take social media, marketing and press seriously. And when new team members joined, we started to take care of new offices, accounting, contracts, invoices, payments… you name it.

At this moment, we are the team of five and even though we realise everyday it’s still not enough, we love what we do and carry the same passion and excitement. And that’s all that matters. We hope you enjoy playing Beat Saber as much as we enjoy creating it!

Thank you for being with us and being understanding about the fact that not everything can be done in a day and sometimes the good things are just worth waiting for.

Our very first team picture. Yes, we are adorable… Petr (left) wasn't in the picture so we photoshopped him into the pic. #legit

Beat Saber v0.10.2p1 released

This small patch should fix possible "black screen" bug on start which was caused by loading invalid config file.

Black screen / Far Menu bug fix

We found a small bug in Beat Saber which causes black screen on start or the whole menu is in the distance.

An updated version of Beat Saber is on its way but in the meantime you can fix the problem by deleting settings.cfg file which is located in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local Low\Hyperbolic Magnetism\Beat Saber\

The AppData folder is hidden so be sure that you unhide hidden files if you can’t find it.
