Patch 1.1.0.4 + 1.1.0.5

Hey (Everyone who released one or more custom levels should read this!)

with the latest update Beeftacular also got 2 "major" bugs that were fixed with this patch.
The first bug was that sometimes when you got the same worldrecord time as someone else you didn't get the "World Record!" Message. Now this should be fixed.

The other bug was even bigger because it caused published custom levels to not show up for other players in their workshop. In fact the custom level was released under "friends-only" visibility, which is of course not what I wanted. I apologize for that and hope that everyone who created a level will check the visibility on theirs and set it to public.

From now on released custom levels will be public again.

Edit Patch 1.1.0.5:
Patch 1.1.0.5 fixes even more Bugs! Yay!
Also a big change: The "Beeftacular Veteran" Achievement now takes only 5 speedruns instead of 30.

Also a new option in the game settings that, if enabled, will make the particles and corpse parts after a kill fade out way faster than normal.

Edit Patch 1.1.0.6:
Hotfix, fixing a rare bug where projectiles don't kill targets that are very close to a wall.

Steam Trading Cards are here!

Oh yea! Beeftacular finally got its trading cards!
And this means there are now not only new Beeftacular emoticons available, but also neat backgrounds and of course badges.

:ragebeef: :crybeef: :happybeef: :pukebeef: :ripbeef:

To get trading cards, which are used to craft these new items, you just have to play some Beeftacular! Later you'll also be able to buy them on the community market, but for now they are only available through playing Beeftacular.

But there is even more good news!

Beeftacular had it's final price drop to $2.99 and is therefore a <$5 game which I hope will get us some more players, levels and bigger leaderboards.
I really just want this game to be played. :crybeef:

Today I also released a tiny patch for Beeftacular that fixes some issues with the level editor and naming your custom levels. This patch also updates the SDK and Engine, therefore there could be a couple new bugs that I haven't found yet. If you find any new bugs, please report them in the forum. Thanks!

Enjoy the new stuff and good luck in beating Xerocus' speedruns!

Free Demo Version, Price Drop and Update 1.1

Hey!
The release was not that long ago, but I read a lot of feedback and comments.
Some were pretty mean but some were also very nice, constructive and much appreciated. Everyone who professionally tested the game gave positive feedback.

Today I release the first update for Beeftacular together with a free demo version and also announce a price drop from $7.99 down to $5.99. Permanently.

Okay, now one after the other:

Changelog 1.1.0.0:

  • Added a difficulty setting

    • You can now choose between "Experienced" (Default), "Beginner" and "Noob" Difficulty. Since many people had problems with the high level of difficulty in Beeftacular this difficulty setting will definitely help.
    • Beginner level will give you 50% additional time per level, Noob will even double the amount of time you got

  • Added a couple of new secret levels
  • Added a new setting to adjust the menu animation speed
  • Added Yes/No Question Window instead of y/n textbox
  • Added a few more hints
  • Fixed a couple of small bugs
  • Some other small changes

The new demo version:

Beeftacular just got a free demo version, available for everyone who has a steam account and doesn't already own the full version.

The demo version consists of 10 (rather easy) levels that are very similiar to some of the levels from the main game.
The demo also includes the level editor. But it's not possible to save, load or publish custom levels. So the level editor in the demo is just to take a look at some other objects or for experimenting.

This demo should help you deciding whether you want to give the game a chance or not. Since a platformer needs to feel right, and not just look right it's important that you can try it yourself. And now you can! And then you will see that Beeftacular is actually a very smooth, high quality and fun platformer.

Visit the Beeftacular Steam Store Page and hit "Download Demo" on the right to try the demo for free!

The price drop:

Although personally I feel that $7.99 was a fair price for Beeftacular, most non-buyers thought differently. And at the end of the day I just want my game to be played, that's why I decided to drop the price to a far lower price that I hope everyone acknowledges as fair and well worth it.

At $5.99 Beeftacular now has almost the same price as my other, older platformer game Just Get Through. Both games are coming with a lot of love and content and are well worth their price, especially if you're a fan of platformer games.

I hope this price drop will lead to more people playing the game and filling the steam workshop with high quality custom levels.

Bottom line:

I want to thank everyone who supports me and my games. Everyone who already bought Beeftacular or Just Get Through and everyone who gave constructive feedback.
To all the haters I can just say: If you like platformers, give Beeftacular a chance.
And for everyone who read this far a fun fact: You can unlock a secret skin by using the Konami code in the main menu.

Thanks again and enjoy my game!

PS.: Beeftacular is now also part of the Retrific Platformer Bundle, where you can save 25% when buying Just Get Through and Beeftacular together or when you already own one of these games!

Beeftacular launched

Hey everyone!
Yes, that's right! Beeftacular is now available to buy on steam and we're having a small event! Read below for more information

I spent the last days before release polishing and fixing up the final version of Beeftacular, and now I am pretty happy with it. But I didn't find the time to make some neat trading cards, so this will have to wait some more.

But at least we got some pretty nice achievements! :D

Now that the game launched everyone can go and climb up the leaderboards.
But what happens after you played all the official levels several times?
That's where the level editor and steam workshop comes into play!

But sadly there aren't many custom levels available at the moment.

That's why I decided to do a little competition:

Release some custom levels in the steam workshop and vote, because the 3 creators of the 3 top voted maps (Click here to check the current order) will win free Beeftacular and Just Get Through Steam Keys!

First place: 3 Beeftacular Keys, 1 Just Get Through Keys
Second: 2 Beeftacular Keys, 1 Just Get Through Key
Third: 1 Beeftacular Key, 1 Just Get Through

You have time till Tuesday next week!
EDIT: Contest is over! Thanks for participating, the winners received their prize.

Release, Press and Future

Hello everyone,
this is the first announcement for Beeftacular ever.
I just wanted to give a quick update on the current development and future plans of Beefacular.

Today is the 21st Aug 2016, 5 days before the public release of Beefacular.
Tomorrow I'll send out the press version. Yes, there will be a press version.
The last weeks of development went pretty well and everything was ready on time. But now I really want to get this game out.

The press will get their access to Beefacular on Monday and on Friday evening the rest of the world will get access to Beefacular for only $7.99 + an exclusive release discount of 10%.

If you're some kind of press you can still contact me for press release access. Just send me a mail to press@retrific.net

The press version is a little bit different compared to the final release because currently the steam achievements and steam trading cards are still missing. These will come with the final release. The press release is also good to fill the leaderboards and set some basic world records.

After the public release of Beeftacular I'll take a short break from working. But of course I'll read all the feedback and reviews and I'll try to fix bugs and problems as soon as possible.

Then later I'll start working on some of my other projects and depending on the success of Beeftacular I could totally see me developing some new content for it. I already have some plans for Beeftacular.
For example:

Future Plans for Beefacular
- I want to improve the level editor and make it even more user-friendly but also more complex.
- I want to add new objects and traps
- Improved Workshop integration
- I want to publish new official level packs, e.g. a hardcore level pack.
- More Secrets
- New skins
- Improved mod support
- Maybe new languages

But what exactly will happen after the release is not set yet because it depends on the success and feedback. But since Beefacular already has a level editor + Steam Workshop support the game should keep itself alive and provide itself with new content.

Anyway, I already want to thank everyone who supported me and everyone who buys and plays Beeftacular.
