Yes the Asian Google Play has said yes to Boston and yes to madness, so the gang are all off on an Asian tour!
Months of work have made Beerman available to every phone in Asia and the bubbling beakers and sparking welders are still hard at work in VS1 Studios HQ building more future fun...
The Boston Madness sees a second release on the Microsoft App Store!
What took you so long? I hear the question...
A long time ago in a far off but very clear nightmare I released the first version on the UWP application on the Microsoft Store which was a huge lift for me then. Shortly there after another huge lift in the form of university put the brakes on everything and plunged me into a coding nightmare of survival.
In the midst of this carnage as I watched countless other students fall around me and get eaten by huge university demands an error in the second level of the first app ( When Beerman got battered by Team Geriatric and fell over the bloody level wouldn't end and Malcolm was left running around the store screaming unintelligibly with a rake ) saw me scramble to get the Android App fixed on Amazon but alas due to the time constraints I couldn't reach out to fix the UWP app on Windows.....why?
Because fixing things for UWP which needs work across multitudes of systems is a beast!
How much so... well lets run this by you, I figured this whole build would be over in 3 weeks....
Week 1 : Weekend attempt at fixing app and starting build..... failure
Week 2 : Weekend attempt at figuring out why over 3 days I couldn't start..... failure
Week 3 : Weekend attempt at ...... get the idea?
In between these weeks :
madness depression resignation to failure possible psychopathy more screaming and uncontrolled anger considering admitting defeat and going off to....
Week 10 : Several Unity upgrades and several UWP Builds and the first attempt at uploading the finished article to Microsoft Store Complete.....
There are now 53.1 Gigabytes of Boston Madness uploaded and on station on the Windows Microsoft App Store!
its quite cool how they work, you don't erase the one before if it works, instead you add each successful build and the system when someone tries to download makes a copy of the game from the build their Windows Device accepts trying the x64 first then if that isn't acceptable the x64 ARM and finally if their device is older the x86 x64 ARM.....mine wouldn't accept the larger first two and forced me to upload the third 1.1.8.0_x64 before it would accept it!
You then get a much smaller game build downloaded to your device in Beerman's case 1.91 Gigabytes!

Anyway that's my explanation as clearly as I can explain for anyone who was bewildered as to why one was fixed and not the other at the time.....the short answer is because I can't pull 12 weekends in a row out of my Ah huh hoo lets keep this a family show now lol.
Now about this nomination thingy...my as described above nightmare might qualify Beerman but that's all Tech Dev speak and might not float everyone's boat so the game would have to do what it always does and make folks laugh.....and some cry ːsteamhappyː
So to that end the Beerman Website has had an update where the gang have been let loose one more time across the page to bring a laugh to everyones phone or desktop...
Yes weeks of cutting let me send them tearing over the screen and I even made sure a ninth gunner emerges from the van roof to show they are animating and the wheels are turning as its hard to see on mobile but the desktop proves they have their wheels and no corners where cut!
Well its finally been done! After tirelessly working back and forth over months the VS1Studios staff ( Me ) figured out how to change Beerman from an APK to a Bundle.
Not as easy as you might think after a lot of time away from developing due to the real world demanding I work.
Anyway after picking up where I left off I had to figure out how far up the Unity Archive I had to take... could take Beerman to be able to generate a Bundle that websites are beginning to insist on.
After finding the right Archive year of Unity then going through over a dozen of that year then cracking up as each time you increase the Unity year and upgrade the game to that year another tire falls off the car or the exhause blows up or some damn thing that you then have to back in and fix Aaaaarrrrgghh!!!
Now why is this being done I hear the haters ask incredulously! Well there is the serious development side of upgrading to 64 bit and that meaning Beerman is compliant with app providers but also there is something else..... The rules of those there competitions state that your game has to have been built or ugraded within the last year and of course they say "Game" not which version of the game, so Beerman now technically qualifies and can be entered into competitions with this new upgrade!
Also there have been many sprite upgrades including the unfortunate ones that had words written backwards and stuff.....you know the ones.
So when is the Steam Game being updated with the same? Its on the list and really i'm waiting for Unity to put the Unity 4 Archive series on the Unity Hub because the Hub doesn't like you starting a stand alone Unity without its say so and so id have to dismantle all that hugeness to do that.....wow Unity 4 sooooooooo long ago.

The original Beerman Demo was created from a version of the game that still had some bugs in the first level and the big developer radar beam missed this on its first swing round!
This new Beerman Demo has been made from the final version of the game that had all the issues resolved in an earlier update and concerns level 1 and all of the odd things that needed ironed out, details below :
Yes unfortunately Jamaican George's launchings did tend to drift under the helicopter as if they had been drinking.....well no longer, now the missiles launched head directly for Beerman or the helicopters nose.............Jamaican George got his aim back!
2. Beerman Blasted
It was the strange case that even with Beerman's Vietnam experience if he inadvertently smashed into another helicopter there was the possibility of him literally being blasted clear of the game screen in the resulting explosion.....this has now been fixed with it truly impossible for our hero to go AWOL.
3. Magic JaMan
In the previous builds when JaMan was preparing to throw the student to his death from the top of the building if the player was quick enough and opened the chinook ramp and killed the two guards JaMan would also be seen walking onto the aircraft with the Veggie Baddie.....
Now although JaMan is Jamaican and therefore cool enough to be in two places at once this didn't really sit well with reality so I have since revised this and now the chinook door will not open for boarding until JaMan has finished throwing the student to his death.....
Hooray for order!
This of course brings the demo inline with the main game, a little Boston clean up so the madness can continue!
The Beerman Android App has been updated with the following :
1 - All levels control colliders reworked to ensure much greater accuracy in all control directions.
2 - Level two bugs that got in the way of level end removed.
3 - All explosions on all levels reworked to ensure no sprite rendering problems on creation.
4 - Some mobile phones had difficulty when too much was animating at the same time, like when the cat leaps onto Beerman and tries to scratch his face off - so i've added a little gravity to the tussling duo so even if your phone is struggling they will eventually settle nicely on the ground and you'll get your extra life.....
Alternatively if you have a fairly fast phone you can still overpower the gravity and send Beerman hurtling around fighting with the cat taking it to a high height or off to the side before dropping him to the sidewalk cracking his skull and leaving him to drain of blood and die.....i've left all options open to keep everybody happy! ːsteamhappyː
