Before the Kingdom Falls

Player input.

Just a small update as per feedback.

Updated attacking to hit nearest enemy even when moving. (Improvements will be made to this.)

Updated in game menu to say exit to main menu and moved the settings to the middle.

Updated tactical map icons and added a voice for when you do not have enough gold.

Holding the sprinting button would drain stamina without moving and now it won't. (Small bug that sometimes appears but this will be dealt with.)

I appreciate all player feedback and will update all the other requests in due time.

Before The Kingdom Falls Revamp

Hi Everyone

I have some exciting news regarding the improvements of BTKF. I scraped everything and started all over from scratch in Unreal Engine 5!

From now on lighting look much better going forward and load times might be even faster now. This will allow for better looking environments and characters!

This update will showcase how I wanted certain systems to work and a bit of the story is presented in the playable mission.

I want to thank you all for your patience however now things might get rolling even quicker now that the base mechanics are fully modular. The AI on the other hand is definitely in need of some work but everything will come together eventually.

Fence Update

Just some fixes.

- Fixed fence so you can't get stuck on them.
- Fixed Wave timer.
- Fixed Weapon upgrades.

Generals have arrived.

Well isn't this nice. I have finally added some generals that will give some playful banter as you play the map. These Generals will be unlocked as you play the campaign and will grant you different perks. Right now though all they will do is give random commentary every now and then. So there are two available at the moment to select, which will change as the story is added.

- Added Male Commander.
- Added Female Commander.
- Fixed start mission bug.
- Changed some UI elements.

Bug fixes.

Thanks to some feedback I have added a few more tips for when you start the game and have added the control list in the options menu.

Other changes:

Finally fixed that irritating sound bar.
Fixed the health widget on the troll.
Changed RTS commanders position.
Removed the one troll by the Kraken.
Added a healing relic.

Wave Timer

Added a timer to tell you when a new wave begins. It should make planing your attack easier.

Adding the Campaign Menu

Just added the scene for the campaign menus.
Changed desktop icon.

Quest Journal

Just adding a few objectives that you can see by holding J.

Earning an income and healing?

Hello everyone.



I seem to be on a roll with adding features and I really hope that this trend can continue. At the moment I lack the funds to get new models so some things may not look quite right. This will not stop me though. I will continue to develop the game until it is an enjoyable experience for every fantasy lover out there.

Now I shall describe what I am adding in this update and why.

Number 1:



I have added new attack animations to the character. This hero is not the final design. I have my eye on a set of characters however it will take some time to get them.

Number 2:



Have you ever been stabbed? Well if you did then you wouldn't magically heal the wounds almost instantly it would take awhile. This is why you can't outright heal however I have now added that when you get to the mysterious pool and go into the water then you start to passively heal over time! Magic water am I right? This feature is a bit buggy so bear with me as I find a way to stop loopholes.

Number 3:



The Village is empty at the moment except for a few monsters so at the moment killing all the monsters will allow the village to give you a small trickle of gold to help you keep re-spawning however your position can still be overrun so don't rely solely on it. Once I have the assets then I will be adding villagers that give quests and bring better immersion to the area.

Well that is it for now. I also fixed some things but those above are the biggest things added for now. Here are a few more things below. Please feel free to send bug reports either by discord or email.

Bug fixes:



Enemy death animation was not working at times and now they should play it.

Added:



Added an execution area in the fort. (aesthetic reasons.)
Scattered stronger weapons around the fort.
Added more base guards. (may or may not be more useful.)

Path 2.1

Just a little update to the AI.

- Changed 2 enemy skins.
- Reduced the likelihood of getting stuck AI.

If there are still stuck then please let me know. Next update should include changes to characters attack and movement.
