Belko VR - The Next Phase!
Hello!
To all gamers, horror fans, escape artists and VR room-scale aficionados, on behalf of myself, Top Right Corner, David Yarovesky, Paper Crane Games and Blumhouse Tilt, we want to thank you for playing Belko VR: An Escape Room Experiment.
Honestly, the response from the community has been tremendous and has far exceeded anything we could have imagined. Dave and I came to develop this game from our involvement in the film The Belko Experiment- Dave as a creative consultant and myself as a producer and the evil speaker voice - and it's been an amazing experience to take the dark/funny/messed up/bizarre tone of that project and turn it into it into an original escape room game.
Many of you have commented that although this clearly an ad for the film, which we admit it shamelessly is, you still very much enjoyed it as a stand alone VR experience. That was exactly our goal. We're using this game as a launching off point for more Virtual Reality games and we want to give you a few updates:
<*> First of all, while the game will always remain free for home users, we're giving Arcade Owners worldwide the ability to download commercial licenses. Many of you have reached out to us asking for this and have been kind enough to ask about using it commercially. The arcade market remains relatively uncharted territory and we're excited to see how Belko VR is received there. We'll have more on this soon! If you run an arcade and want to know how you can use it, always feel free to reach out to me directly.
<*> Secondly, we can't say too much but David and I are about to begin a brand new endeavor that is at least in the same genre of games as Belko VR. We'd love to get direct feedback from you the user about what you liked, what you didn't like and what you'd enjoy in a new Escape Room premise. ːsteamhappyː
<*> Last but not least, we're very proud to announce a new partnership with Alienware. We'll have more on this in the coming months but suffice it to say, their team is fantastic and have been hugely supportive as we complete this journey from film producers/directors and creatives to fully fledge VR developers (or semi-fledged if that's a term ːsteamfacepalmː) We're excited to bring Alienware along for this ride as they power many more of our VR adventures!
Thanks again for all of your feedback and support. We're excited for new things!

Thanks for all of your kind words!
Dave Yarovesky and I had such a great time putting together this game, inspired by the of The Belko Experiment. Now that gamers everywhere have had an opportunity to play our VR experience, we've gotten some really great reviews and kind words from all over the world.
We've decided to turn a lot of these into memes and posted them here. Enjoy and thanks again! --Dan
"Belko Experiment Escape Room will make you love Virtual Reality"
We just our first amazing review in from Inverse.com
A big THANK YOU to Jamie Loftus (first pictured below) for checking out our game at the demo day at the Microsoft Lounge in Venice Beach, CA
Now, for the game itself: You, the player, are trapped in a small office in Belko headquarters, which is presumably not too different from the one the film’s protagonists find themselves in. A phone rings, you speak briefly with a co-worker who doubles as your best friend … and then the lights go out. Then an intercom informs you that you’ve got 15 minutes to escape the office using a control panel attached to the wall … and if you don’t, a small explosive device in your head will go off, blowing you to bits Elmer Fudd-style.

While VR is still in its infancy, the Belko Experiment escape room is one of the first filmic integrations that doesn’t feel completely shoehorned into an unrelated piece of media. This could be because its creators are more well-versed in film and story than in game mechanics in the traditional sense. Film ties aside, Yarovesky and Clifton were more or less given a creative blank check in developing the escape room and pulled from their own experience with gaming and the experience of the ever-popular escape room experience.
Welcome to our Belko VR Demo Day!
Thanks to everyone who participated in Day 1 of our Belko VR: An Escape Room Experiment Demo Day. We had a great time showing off the game before it releases officially on Friday, March 3rd!
One part courage, two parts patience
Hang in there, Belko Employees. Our game launches in only 4 days....
Bloody Disgusting helps spread the Belko VR Philosophy
We're 5 days away from launching our Belko VR Escape Room on Steam.
BloodyDisgusting.com just gave us some good press about our process and the idea behind the game.
“We felt that we had a unique opportunity to do something a little crazy by taking the core idea of being trapped in the Belko Industries building and distilling that down to a Roomscale experience,” states Dan Clifton, who co-produced the film and also developed the game. “Players will become a Belko employee and be immersed into a fight for survival. It’s fun, at times threatening and scary and fully interactive.”
James Gunn said, “The Belko VR – Escape Room Experience is scary as hell with lots of insane puzzles and moral choices. As an active gamer, I’m so excited about where VR is going, and this is a step in the right direction. David Yarovesky and Dan Clifton did an amazing job capturing the film’s unique tone and the game is just as twisted and fun as the movie.”
