Berserk Mode 1.0 release

I’m very proud and excited to announce the 1.0 release of Berserk Mode. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who played the game in early access (or the demo!), and an even bigger thank you to everyone who gave feedback and reported bugs. The game could never reached this stage without your support. Thank you!



What’s in 1.0?


  • Zone timers added

  • 2 new weapons: Spiked Shield and Iron Boomerang

  • 4 new items: Fury potion, Ambrosia, Sharp fangs and Dragon Scale

  • Curse system upgrades: Added new curses and ‘Super Curses’ are less common

  • Improved Resurrection mechanic

  • Added mini-tutorial on first play

  • Various bug fixes and balance changes

Maintenance patch 0.752

What's changed:

BUG FIXES



- Fixed an issue where stamina could get stuck at zero
- Fixed an issue where War Paint would lower the stamina recharge rate
- Improved an issue where the player could get stuck in/on walls
- Fixed an issue where the Rogue's Jacket would de-select on restart
- Fixed an issue with little goblins getting stuck on high areas in Goblin City
- Fixed a bug that caused both crystals to activate on level selection


BALANCE CHANGES / ENCHNACEMENTS



- Reduce spider attack damage and attack speed
- Exploding goblins can now be kicked/knocked away at the last second
- Kick has a slightly longer range, tweaked animation
- Improved little goblin's leap attack



What's coming?

More content! Next up will be a few improvements and additions to shop items. There will also be some new classes and new weapons coming soon!

🔥Descension Update for Berserk Mode is now Live!!🔥

Berserk mode is back with the biggest update yet! A huge amount of content is here to sink your Axe into.



What's Changed?

'DESCENSION' DIFFICULTY LEVELS



Difficulty settings have been added! You must beat the game on standard to unlock Descension 1. Players who have previously beaten the game will need to beat it again to unlock. Descension levels are unlocked one-by-one and get increasingly more tricky. The highest currently unlockable is Descension 5, there will a couple more added later.

There is also an easy mode that gives some serious buffs to Berserkers in training.

NEW ALTERNATE ZONES AND ZONE REWORK



Each zone except the final zone now has an alternate option for extra rewards. The game is now only 6 zones long, and the final zone is now completely new. New zones include the ACID WAY, THE SLIMY SEWERS, GRAVE TOWN and THE RAMPARTS.

ARENAS IMPROVEMENT



Arenas are now unlocked after a certain number of kills, rather than a timer.

NEW HIGH-TIER WEAPONS



Say hello to your new little friends: the Ballista, the Bone Rifle, The Flanged Mace and the General's Glaive. They show up after zone 2 and are powerful.

PHYSICS IMPROVEMENTS



Physics have been changed so that enemies can be sent flying with multiple knocks. The player is also a lot less likely to go through walls.

Coming start of May - DESCENSION Update

I've been working hard on the biggest update yet for Berserk Mode - the DESCENSION Update, set to release in the first week of May.

What's Coming?

NEW DIFFICULTY MODES



Train up in Easy mode, then prepare yourself for new unlockable 'Descension' modes, each one more nightmarish than the last.

NEW ZONES



Each zone other than the final zone will now have a selectable alternate zone. Upcoming new zones include 'Acid Way', 'The Grave Yards' and the 'The Ramparts'. (Note: the game will be shortened to 6 zones, and the final 2 zones are being totally reworked.)

NEW WEAPONS



New higher tier weapons will be purchasable in later zones. These will include the Ballista, Bone Rifle, Treasure Glaive and Flanged Mace.

NEW MONSTERS



Give a hearty welcome to the gurgling Slime Lord and lowly attendant Slimes.

IMPROVED GAMEPLAY



More level variety, reworked arenas, better physics and better performance await.

CLASS Update is now live with 3 playable classes

The 'CLASS' Update is now live!


What's changed:

CLASS SYSTEM



This update features a new class system and reworked loadout page. Select From 3 playable classes: Berserker, Brigand and Stalwart. Each class has 3 starting abilities which can be upgraded in the safe room. Each class also has 3 additional abilities, 1 of which is unlocked when another ability reaches level 4.



UPDATED LOADOUT



Armor and helm categories have been removed from the loadout, with some most of these becoming artifacts. Maximum artifacts can now be increased to 5. There are 2 new loadout options: Wizard's cloak and Eye Patch.



IMPROVED MOUSE LOOK / AIM



Mouse aiming has been overhauled, and now operates independent of framerate. This should address issues such as stuttering aim/ visual lag, over/under mouse sensitivity, and play nicer with certain vsync/ refresh rate configurations.

MINOR QOL



Updated some graphics and transitions to better support ultra-wide and alternate aspect ratios.

BUG FIXES



- Fixed a major issue which allowed the player to sprint/be pushed through walls
- Fixed a bug with level generation that would block the path on Exit shaft
- Fixed an bug that would stop the Homonculus reviving the player properly on zone 6/7
- Minor performance enhancements


WHAT'S NEXT?



Next up I'll be adding more content to the game. While nothing is set in stone and I'm always trying to adapt to what people are enjoying, the next phase should include:

- More Alternate stages
- More shop items
- Upgrades to arenas/ level variety

After that, I'll be looking at:

- 2 more classes
- Tutorial level
- Difficulty selection + 'Descension' mode

Small Quality-of-Life and Performance Update

What's changed:

IMPROVEMENTS
- Added option to rebind movement keys
- Added option to disable Vsync
- Added option to cap FPS at 60
- Some small performance improvements

BALANCE
- Beast Limbs are now boosted by weapon upgrades on that side
- Buffed Hydra fire attack
- Nerfed Lich Hand tornado damage
- Buffed Haunted Skull damage

BUGS
- Improved Homonculus respawn mechanic, now it should only move you if you have fallen off the level.

BEAST Update small bug fixes patch #2

This is another quick patch to address some pressing issues introduced in the BEAST update.

What's changed:

- Fixed a bug where gaps/black abyss would appear on the first zone
- Fixed it so the player doesn't get mobbed immediately on Spider Caverns and Exit Shaft
- Fixed a bug that allowed death's door skeletons to spawn in the safe room
- Fixed an issue with the max curses bonus reward
- Rebalanced the lich hand, tornados are now slower and do less damage per tick

Small bug fix patch

What's changed:

- Fixed a bug that would block off the path on Zone 1: Exit Shaft
- Fixed a bug that would cause the Mantis Mandibles to get stuck after ascending
- Fixed a bug where the end crystal could get knocked out of reach
