Welcome again to our weekly update, "Meet Our Characters" where we shed some light on our characters - a colorful menagerie of personalities big and small in Best Month Ever!
We're sure you are eager to learn more about individuals you'll encounter during the life-changing voyage of Louise and Mitch.
This week we'll focus on the fellow whose generation is slowing fading away, with memories still as vivid as ever, and with charisma to rule over all the fellow people around him - Grandfather Elijah.
The patriarch of the family, forceful and stubborn in his ways. He is a war veteran and a first-generation Polish immigrant, rendered handicapped and wheelchair-bound due to his old age. Despite his failing health, Elijah continues to keep all members of the household on a tight, short leash. He carves up time into army-like rituals to preserve discipline.
He lives together with his daughter Margaret, granddaughter Kathy and his grand-grandson Butch, whom he views as subpar and never amounting to anything.
A Bible-thumper in his own right, Elijah views Father Judd as a very close friend of the household, well-above any of the family members. He is not ready to be confronted with the things Louise had been forced to grapple with for years but his formidable power over the family no longer scares her.
