BUILDING UPDATE NOW LIVE 0.13.1
Hi everyone,
A new update has just gone live which includes a major addition. Players will be able to construct their own buildings by crafting a selection of items. We have decided to share the crafting recipes with you, but first we have a brand new video which will share some of the constructs you can make in the system
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYfKBNWDSYo
Crafting recipes
Wooden Plank = Wood Stick + Wood Stick + String + Tie
Wooden Post = Wood Stick + String + Wood Stick + Tie
Wall = Post + Post + Post + Tie
Slope = Plank + Post + Wood Stick + Tie
Window = Plank + Plank + Cut + Tie
Door = Post + Post + Plank + Tie
Floor = Plank + Plank + Plank + Tie
Pillar = Post + Post + Tie
Fence = Wood Stick + Post + Tie
To help with the large amount of wood that players will need to find to construct these buildings, we have added a new item, an axe! The axe will be found on the island and can be used to chop down a new type of tree which will have significant amount of wood sticks. You can still gather wood sticks from shaking trees but chopping down these dead trees will give you a greater amount of wood.
Additionally, players will begin each game wearing a random clothing item. Sometimes they may be wearing jeans, other times they may be shirtless.
We hope you enjoy building and please share your construction in the steam forums!
Update 0.12.0
Hi Everyone,
A big thank you for all those who continue to show support for Better Late Than DEAD.
We an update which adds a new feature to the game and some new items.
0.12.0
New craftable item - Cotton Line (Name subject to change)
New craftable item - Small Trap
New trap system in place
Use items directly from inventory
Keys can now be rebound
Key binds saved in editable text file
Names of items appear when hovering the mouse over
Trap System
You can now place traps around certain parts of the island (Mainly inland away from beaches.) Once you have placed the trap, you will need to leave the area so you don’t spook small animals. After a certain period of time an unsuspecting creature may wonder into your trap.
New Key Binding System
You can now change your key bindings to suit your needs. You can do this both in the main menu and in the pause menu of the game.
Currently there are issues with the key binding while in the main menu; however it is working as intended when bringing up the options while in game.
Thanks again for all the support over the last couple of months.
Update 0.11.12
Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for your continued support through the early access of Better Late Than DEAD. We are continuing to gather your suggestions and improve the game.

Update 0.11.11
Hi Everyone,
Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their continued support of our product. We would also like to apologise for the delay in this update. We have been away at gamescom and are now back to updating BLTD full time. But to make up for the last two weeks, we have a very long update list for you.
0.11.11
- Added Help guide to main menu
- Added control guide to pause menu
- Added a notebook to the Stats area so you can read past notes
- Added new item, Edible coconut.
This can be crafted by cutting the coconut again after you have finished drinking from it.
- Retexturing of buildings to improve overall performance
- Changes made to the rain to further improve performance
- menu button fixes
- Old key has beter visuals so it can be seen better
- Removed many of the invisible walls which can be found on the island
- Drinking animation fixed
- Many of the ground clutter decals have been fixed
- You can now exit the pause menu using ESC key
- Resolution change issue where mouse would be restricted has been fixed.
Known issues
Sadly there are a few known issues with this update which currently do not effect gameplay but we felt players should be made aware of. All previous saves sadly are no longer compatible with the current version and will be deleted upon updating.
- Dutch and German languages currently broken
- Additonal text currently not translated
- New notes in the notebook not being saved correctly when save/loading a game
- It currently rains inside buildings
We will be working very hard to get these issues fixed for you as soon as humanly possible.
Translations in the game are of course still not in a final state. These are community translations so there may be some issues. Also with the game being constantly expanding, some text may not have been translated yet.
Many Thanks
Tim
THE NEXT FEW MONTHS OF DEVELOPMENT
Hi everyone,
We’ve just finished our second week on sale and I’m really pleased with the constructive thoughts that you’ve offered us over this period. We have a major QA report list that we are going through and prioritizing and we hope that we can make a much better game over the coming months.
I’d like to share a few thoughts about what we’d like to add between now and the end of the year.
At the end of August we will be looking to update the game with the following key features:
- New Sleep System
- New Combat System
- New Items & New Crafting Recipes
- Fixes to issues reported by the community
- Some changes & suggestions from the community to be implemented
- Optimization
At the end of September we will be looking to implement the following:
- Building System (let us know what you’d like to construct)
- New Trap System
- New Items & New Crafting Recipes
- Fixes to issues reported by the community
- Some changes & suggestions from the community to be implemented
- Optimization
The next major update after that will be looking to work on:
- Multiplayer Update
- New Clothes
- New Items & New Crafting Recipes
- Fixes to issues reported by the community
- Some changes & suggestions from the community to be implemented
- Optimization
And finally, after this we will then be looking at the following:
- An expansion to the story (with a real game ending) and new islands to explore.
We have a lot of work to do, but right now. I think what we will need to do is take some suggestions from you as to what you’d like to build and what resources you need to complete construction.
Thanks again for being a part of the development process. We hope that you keep checking back and work with us on making a better game.
All the best,
Chris

Incoming Update - Blurriness & Inventory space
We are working hard on the game here and wanted to just share a little more information on what you can expect to see in the game by the end of this week.
