December Patch

Good evening,

I have just released the latest patch for Beyond. I imagine this being the final patch for the game. I have updated some materials that allowed the player to leave the level, as well as improved the audio greatly. The player will now hear the footsteps and different sounds that the footsteps will make depending on what ground they are on.

Also, just because Christmas is around the corner I added a few small scary surprises.

Let There Be Light

I have updated the game yet again. One thing I am hearing a lot is that the battery in the flashlight runs out too quick. I originally planned this to encourage exploration to find battery pickups. Unfortunately my thinking didn't materialize how people actually play the game. Due to this I have doubled the battery life of the flashlight as well as added a lot more batteries to the world.

To balance this out I have added a few more enemies so the game doesn't become too easy.

I have also added notifications for doors that are locked and are unusable to not confuse players.

Collision has also been added to the fountain in the graveyard.

AI now spills blood when you shoot them.

Major update is live

First off I want to say thank you to everyone and your patience. This is my first game on steam so it has been a bit of a learning process for me. I'm not making excuses, I just want to express my graditude to you all.

Update Change List

Changed the intro story screen. The screen will now stay up until the player hits the space bar. This has also been added to the story screen so the player is aware that the game is awaiting their input.

Fixed the weather. It will only rain where it is supposed to.

Adjusted all locations for pick ups that had issues due to bounding boxes. Every item can now be picked up with ease.

Undead AI has been rebalanced. Their movement speed has been slightly increased, and their attack range has been reduced. This will keep the game challenging without being unfair to the player.

Reduced the Boss attack range.

Fixed the path in the forest to a camp to where trees were blocking the entrance and exit. The path has also been retextured to make it more obvious to the player where he way in and out is.

Fixed an error to where the player is reading a note and dies and cannot move after respawning.

Fixed a glitch that would cause the forest level to disappear when getting too close to the manor.

Fixed a glitch that caused the main manor door to lock after it has been opened, not allowing the player to continue moving forward in the game.

Fixed a glitch that caused part of the floor to the entrance to level 2 to disappear.

Updated the camera for aiming down sights. The gun is now more steady if not moving while aiming. If the player is moving the gun will still move. This is natural.

Reprogrammed the ammo capactity, and max ammunition allowed to be collected. The player now starts with 3 full magazines, and has a max capicity of holding 1,000 bullets. Although not realistic, this ensures the player will always be able to grab ammo pickups when they walk over them.

Smoothed out some of the pathway terrain in the forest level to ensure the player cannot get stuck while moving. Now if a player gets stuck it will be because they are trying to move through a tree or tree branch.

Major Update

Good evening! I have been working very hard fixing everything that has been brought to my attention. The good news is that I have fixed all of the bugs. The bad news is that I am having difficulties uploading the patch to Steam. I'm not sure if there is an issue with Steam's servers or what, but I assure you that I will get this patch uploaded so everyone who was gracious enough to spend their hard earned money on my game can play it as it was meant to be played.

I will provide another update as soon as the patch is live. I apologize for the issues and I appreciate everyone who has purchased my game.

Good evening,

The game has been updated. Here are the things that were changed with the patch.

Fixed a small section of the level 1 where rain was coming through a wall. The level 1 loading sound has also been removed.

Level 1 will load faster now.

Fixed the entrance to level 2. Entering this level is much smoother.

Fixed the ammo count. Previously the ammo capped out at 39 bullets. The cap is now above 100.

Overall performance enhancements. The game should transition between levels quicker and smoother.

Thank you for purchasing my game! This is a one man project that has taken me a year to create.

I have been made aware of a few bugs that I am working hard on fixing. Please be patient, and although I know you spent your hard earned money on this I assure you I am doing the best that I can to give you the best experience that I can. I have fixed the bugs and I am testing them. I expect to have the fix uploaded to steam tomorrow.
